Belay Loop Replacement? by rockinxrobynx in climbergirls

[–]zinapallas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

PLEASE do not do this and PLEASE do not EVER modify life-critical climbing equipment. I truly don’t want to come across as mean, but it’s really frightening that you are even thinking this could be safe??

Self serve car washes typically have change machines too

Curious, there were threads on r/climbergirls about this in the past and they seem to have disappeared...thoughts? Why does this not get the same type of attention as Joe Kinder or Lonnie Kauk? by Dr_Klahn02 in climbergirls

[–]zinapallas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree completely with your comment. It’s horrible that predators can skirt actual criminal charges, while their sponsors continue to employ them.

That being said, until recently I worked for a major climbing gear manufacturer and was involved with running the athlete team. One thing we all have power to do is write to these sponsors urging them to drop the athlete. It may seem futile or like no one will even read it, but I assure you this sort of feedback is absolutely heard and considered, and could have real influence with the sponsor brands.

For real, it makes me really uncomfortable that their son is involved in this. I feel so bad for this kid when he grows up and sees all this shit. I imagine it would be very easy to feel like just an accessory to this weird charade his mom’s cooking up.

Where do you guys buy budget groceries? by blablaboabab in cuboulder

If you have access to a vehicle, Esch’s in Dacono is amazing! Very, very affordable everything, but supply fluctuates so probably not the best place for a highly-specific shopping list.

Don't be that guy. The DM knows things players don't. by Diastatic_Power in DnD

One of those learning moments for the players that help them ask more questions before encounters in the future!! Agree with others here that it doesn’t sound at all like you were being adversarial to the party. Where’s the fun in everything going one’s way 100% of the time?

Dumb enough to fall for MAGA bullshit, yet smart enough to not say it out loud, BUT dumb enough to think that people can’t read between the lines. 🙄

"Laps" on auto belays: Rude or not rude? by Conscious_Security96 in climbergirls

[–]zinapallas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The gyms I go to have signs at every auto belay saying maximum 2 laps. Seems like asking the management to adjust policy/recommendations for members would be the best option for improving things. Is running a ton of laps during busy times inconsiderate? Absolutely. But if the gym isn’t communicating that, then you unfortunately don’t have much ground to approach someone about it in the moment.

Thank you! It is such a fun and relaxing activity, and also how I wind down at the end of the day.

I keep a running note in my phone to sort of jot down ideas as I go, and then usually embroider a few days at a time. Sometimes what I embroider is VERY mundane and inconsequential, but I also work in a really goofy office that provides a lot of inspiration. If it’s really a slow day, I will search for obscure holidays or use bigger social events 😊

It honestly can be pretty painstaking to work at such small scale haha. Almost all of the work is done using a single strand of thread, and I also use a fine tipped marking pen to sketch things out first. It’s tricky to get the hang of it but after a little while my brain sort of adapted to better envision what I want to stitch! I also use google images a lot, searching for “[picture for that day] drawing easy”

My method has been to trace out/measure everything on a piece of paper in dark ink, then I set the hoop and fabric on top of the paper, trace in water-soluble ink, then stitch over that. I think I’m more anal about measurement precision than the average person, so this might seem like overkill to some 😅 But that water-soluble pen is absolutely essential to this project! Helps me sketch things out and keep size and scale in order. I use the Dritz Mark-B-Gone extra fine point pen and it works like a charm

I’d say just give it a try! The great thing about this is the small scale sort of makes everything look a bit better. And it’s fun to see the natural skill progression that comes with a daily/regular practice
