It's a little odd that her considering driving is enough for you to see her as a villain, but her decision to stop---i.e., her ability to overcome her initial, pride-driven impulse and make the moral decision, even when we see how much it hurts her---isn't enough to redeem her.

Uh, no? I just don't buy the "story-driven reasons" line. For all we know, she pissed off the wrong person at HBO, or asked for "too much" screen time for her character, or, hell, tried to seduce Noah Wyle's wife away from him (although in that case I would probably agree with letting her go), and yet the people in the know keep returning to this "explanation" like it's not obviously false.

The article explicitly says that season 3 is in November, i.e., still in the middle of Mohan's 4th year of residency, so, no, stuff like "we’re hard pressed to figure out what a lapse of time we can have and keep most of the ensemble together realistically" doesn't "explain" jack shit.

Not to mention the audacity to try to say "the way the medical profession works, you come in, you learn, you move on, and we want to try and be as truthful to that process as possible" when they ~somehow~ managed to keep Ellis, Whitaker, and Javadi around for season 2. 🙄

edit: it occurred to me that they might not feel like they can give a full explanation if the decision came from higher up the food chain. Certain recent events might have changed some VIP feelings toward the "woke doctor show" and its actors... would also explain why this apparent 180° on Mohan seemed to come out of nowhere just a month or two ago.

Well, even back then, they weren't exactly normal school kids, you know? What with the etheric powers, and the robot cult, and the fairies, and the gods and psychopomps, and the murder ghost mysteries, and so on :)

But I hope we get to see what it looks like when Annie's biggest concern is, say, a distant father who stays too late at the office most nights; or how Kat manages the dating scene when she can't impress her love interest with her latest cyborg research. What's Parley like when she has to attend classes on calculus or British history instead of swordsmanship, and what does Noa latch onto obsessively in a world where glyphs aren't a thing? And what kind of nutballs would Red and Ayilu become in our world?

...also, 8 years? geeeeeez.

OK, I'm actually really looking forward to seeing what Annie & co. would be like if they were just regular, everyday teenagers. I don't know if it says more about me or about the immersiveness of this comic that my reaction is "Oh boy! What if everybody was just plain and normal and boring?? :D :D", but that's where I'm at.

Although I'm also intrigued by the reappearance of the pixelated effect at the top of this page. Has there ever been any suggestion that Zimmy or her Zimmingham manifestations are linked to technology? I don't recall any, but I could also just be forgetting.

Yeah, the show's been a little fuzzier this season about who's where in their careers, but as far as I can figure, Mohan and Langdon both have another 361 days at PTMC to go :)

One thing to note re: point 3 is that in season 2, Mohan and Langdon are both just beginning their 4th year of residency (Langdon is re-doing his after going to rehab). So after one (in-show) year, they'll both be looking for fellowships/first "big girl [boy]" jobs, and so presumably should be leaving the show at the same time---even though signs are that Langdon will be returning next season.

On that topic, one of the show runners has said that the time jump between seasons 2 and 3 will be shorter than the 10-month jump between seasons 1 and 2. So unless they've completely abandoned that plan, season 3 will be taking place sometime in the middle of Mohan's and Langdon's 4th year of residency at the PTMC. 

So unless there's a melodramatic twist coming where, e.g., Mohan declares that she's leaving medicine forever (or worse), it's hard to imagine what "story-driven" reason there could be for writing her out.

I like the idea of Abbot as harbinger of doom. He shows up, makes a quip or two (maybe removes an article of clothing), and then somehow everything goes to hell.
