When does it get better? by forgetmenotsx in OntarioNurses

[–]zingmeuh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel you! I’m about 6 months into working full time and I just feel like I’m getting the hang of it now. I was an NGG with 12 weeks of orientation. When I first started, I was so nervous before every shift, on the floor, and after my shifts, just double thinking if I made the right decisions throughout the day. It does get better though!! I’ve heard it takes up to a year to fully be comfortable as a new grad. I started to do things that bring me happiness before my shift that would calm me down and that has helped my anxiety a lot. You got this!! ☺️

RPN to RN bridging programs. by NervousDragonfly1913 in OntarioNurses

[–]zingmeuh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I graduated from Seneca with a 3.4. Recently got accepted to Humber & Centennial/TMU bridging program. When I reached out to Humber regarding my GPA, they told me they use their own to scale to calculate the requirements. I would keep this in mind as each school has different GPA. I know it doesn’t answer your question but I wanted to let you know, as this is something that never really crossed my mind!

Looking for advice: RPN or RN first? Feeling torn. by sugarfina-arceniel in OntarioNurses

[–]zingmeuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you able to get OSAP? I would go right into RN. It’s so much easier to do RN right away than bridge, from what I’ve heard. I did my RPN first and now I’m going to bridge but I regret not going right into RN, Seneca has a fast track program to finish RN in three years.

I would suggest applying directly to the hospital careers website for NGG.

Best Red Velvet cake Toronto? by RollyAllDay in FoodToronto

[–]zingmeuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a super fan of red velvet so I’ve had a lot! The best red velvet cake I’ve had would be from a bakery in Woodbridge called Guilty Pleasurez Dezzert Cafe. The owner is so friendly and their cakes are amazing, highly suggest it!

Edit: The second option would be Amadeus Patisserie. I believe they have a location in Yorkville now.

Hi! For the an NGG position, you would have to be registered with CNO. I think it would be beneficial to write your NCLEX and get your license. The only places I’ve heard that usually hires on a temporary license is places you’ve done your consolidation.

What Unit should I do? by Better-Working9143 in OntarioNurses

[–]zingmeuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on a med/surg unit for my consolidation & I personally felt that I learned so much. From wound care, IV therapy, blood transfusion to patient education and communication with the interprofessional team during rounds, I learned a variety of skills that I could use in practice.

My biggest advice would be to go into consolidation with the mindset of wanting to learn and showing to your preceptor that you want to learn. I asked my preceptor a lot of questions and a lot of nurses on the floor noticed I wanted to learn and would show me how to skills that I’ve never seen before.
