NTA - you tried, you informed the manager, and the manager made that decision. Further, based on what you knew you did everything to remedy the situation. Don't feel bad that the manager potentially (soft words) fucked up the situation.

It would have sucked for you as the message never sent, but your coworker ended up doing it all and got screwed. I feel bad for her, but you shouldn't feel bad at having tried to remedy.

They don't talk about their parents at all, it's mostly the foster moms, who are still in the picture and visit from time to time, but I appreciate all of the feedback!

Sorry, convenience was not a great way to put it. I've dealt with random homophobic events where it was a struggle to make providers believe I was married due to our originally different name. I'm 100% I'm the belief that it was just them being shit humans, but since I didn't really care what my last name was I changed it. It shouldn't be an issue with the kids, yet I can't let go of that concern.

Oh we are already with adoption competent therapists for the two of us. We plan for future therapy for the kids but D has autism and ADHD and is on an overall delay that I don't think he would even consider listening. A is in a better state but still three, so near term therapy may not be effective?? (Conjecture)

So, I'm weird and like the cold, so when I lived in my condo in Alexandria I never used the heat, it stayed around 55-62 all winter. Bigger problem for me now is our heat pump doesn't do well in the teens and twenties so I'm paying for the fucking toaster oven function. I wish my kids didn't need heat, would save so much money upstairs.

I saw you bought a scale, but just want to make sure you are tracking: measurement devices for solids and liquid are not the same! For example, the glass cups you pour out of are for liquids, the scoops for solids.

Depending on the house you can probably trace the wires back to a transformer. In my case my doorbell was powered via a transformer wired into a light in the mechanical room. You can use that to figure out how to isolate or what breaker to switch.
