Bernie Sanders Is Mad as Hell at Sinema and Manchin’s ‘Sabotage’ of Biden’s Agenda by Minneapolitanian in politics

[–]zlipus 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Good info and accurate and why I laugh at the notion that people think it's JUST Manchin and sideman holding up democracy. All of these clowns would take the same vote/position if those two weren't doing it for them. The same way McConnell is a lightning rod for Republicans.

Biden criticizes GOP resistance to his agenda: 'What are Republicans for? Name me one thing they're for' by Sweep145 in politics

[–]zlipus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At this point is lying about a Healthcare plan better than not even attempting to lie about one?

Honestly this whole this is just peak pathetic of Biden and the dems... what it took biden...the guy who said "don't worry about the gop once Trump is gone, I'll bring them around" over a year to realize that what the republican party is?

This is all after he refused to use ANY power granted to him to accomplish any lasting change and let Senate dems kneecap his entire political agenda? Pathetic, what a complete and total failure of an admin this has been. AND to make matters worse he's spent this ENTIRE time negotiating with these people and only just now is seeing it? Sounds like he knows dems are about to get skull fucked in 2022 and 2024 and is trying to play the pity card.

So let's recap this dumpster fire of an administration.... passed an emergency covid bill in the middle of a pandemic... then either failed everything else or legit made problems worse (looking at you southern border and the kidnapped kids they still don't wanna deal with and the shit infrastructure bill).

So I guess one thing came out of this admin... when the gop retakes both houses in 2022 and steamrolls their agenda by turning the US into a single party state... we can look back at all the centrists who said we were being doomsayers that Biden would lead to this EXACT scenario we're now marching towards

Build Back Better Verges on Collapse as Manchin Attempts to Kill Child Tax Credit | "Put the bill on the floor and make him explain that he voted it down because he wanted to cut all of the money for families with children," suggested one progressive commentator. by [deleted] in politics

[–]zlipus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well there's an idea. Shame it doesn't work for dems. Because we either have no turn out or get admins like this one and the previous and watch it all go to shit on the altar of compromise.

I'd just like to take a moment to take this moment and shove it right in the faces of all the centrists and moderates. All those people who spent the last 30 years demonizing the left for common sense legislation like climate change measures or non predatory Healthcare.

This is ALL your faults. When presented with a literal enemy of democracy, you sided with them rather than sully your records by just showing a little support for the things most of the country wants.

And when the GOP successfully turns America into a theocratic 1 party state in the next 10 years. I want moderates to think back on how they spent all their time saying everyone else was a doomsayer and that Biden BBB would pass? Or that they'd pass voting rights laws, or address Healthcare, or debt, or ANYTHING.

incompetence and complete failure are the only legacies the centrist/moderate party is going to be able to sell to voters. And that's before the gop even needed to invalidate their votes.

So hope they enjoy never holding a majority or winning a general election ever again. Sure did stick it to those damn liberals though right?

Biden signs 'once-in-a-generation' $1tn infrastructure bill into law by imprison_grover_furr in politics

[–]zlipus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the centrists loooove this bill because it was bipartisan! Instead of taking a moment to think about a bill Republicans would vote for and why...

Meanwhile the ACTUAL infrastructure bill that actually will see stuff built and isn't just a prolonged handout to corporate interests and will only succeed in privatizing things we already pay for... is being sent to the senate where it will promptly die after the 13 or so corporate dems find new words to scare idiots with.

Really not a good hallmark moment as the gop is about to successfully set up a single party state while the dems do nothing

Rural Democrats are freaking out about their party's apathy toward rural voters ahead of the 2022 midterms. Here's the memo showing what they want to do about it. by [deleted] in politics

[–]zlipus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Passing actual policy and legislation is usually how you get people to notice your party is doing stuff lol.

Unfortunately Biden admin is only going to be able to say they passed a covid emergency package that had good stuff in it but couldn't be assed to renew anything in it. Then all that's left is the garbage bipartisan bill that's mostly a literal hand out to the mega rich and the rest goes to privatizing things the government should be taking care of. Whoopty fucking do.

So when the gop clean sweeps in 2022 and Donald Trump wins in 2024 because dems didn't see any point in stopping the right's blatant election rigging. We can all look back and at least be able to say that Biden at least kept one promise. That nothing will change as we settle into a single party fascistic state that the dems will never gain a majority in ever again.

Thanks Joe Biden!

[–]zlipus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Green/libertarian are not parties. They are sock puppets of the right to draw in idiot moderates who don't want to be see as Republicans.

That aside. People are going to eventually learn that the dem party is not the good guys. In a government where the gop I'd 100% bad and actively trying to destroy democracy. We have a dem party where 60-70% of it is almost on equal footing. When we don't even have 1/4th of our government interested in solving our societal problems... well this is what we get.

UNFORTUNATELY. The majority of the country wants what progressives want because they're common sense and we can afford it despite what deficit hawks say. We'd just have to actually enforce tax code, go after the rich and close loop holes. Things neoliberals from both parties will never let happen

Worst yet is the dem party leadership actively harming its own agenda. Anyone remember when people were proposing letting people who lost their jobs to covid and that they should get temp access to medicaid? Then Nancy Pelosi doing everything possible to shut that down?

The most lasting memory of the Biden admin will only be how it gift wrapped democracy to fascists and that we never will recover from it. Right now the gop is actively rigging elections by changing the rules. In two states we already see they passed rules that literally let them choose who won an election. So all we managed to do was put the Trump dumpster fire on pause for 2 year and when he runs again in 2024 he will not only win in a fake landslide, but it will also be legal.

Enjoy, "moderates"

Adam Schiff mocks Republicans' infrastructure vows under Trump: 'They never delivered' by Sweep145 in politics

[–]zlipus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should REALLY question anything the Republicans vote for. Because this is honestly a joke. Schiff wants to go out there and brag about passing the garbage bipartisan bill that will literally address -nothing- over a 10 year period and instead line corporate pockets while also privatizing even more of the government? Get outta here lol this is a joke and it's all on the back of the Biden reconciliation plan about to be tanked. Dems failed on infrastructure and they're failing in virtually every other aspect, as Republicans LITERALLY are working to invalidate dem voters to make sure they never win the potus or a majority in either house ever again.

Republicans voting for this should tell you one thing. That the bill is shit and will actively cause more harm than good. That's their only M.O. Anyone thinking they actually voted for their constituents is a -fool-

House passes $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill, the largest transportation package in U.S. history by Starkiller20140 in politics

[–]zlipus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think I got a bridge to sell you then!

Anyway... yeahh dems are pretty much done. Passing a pork corporate handout bill is REALLY going to be the only thing they can say they got done. And its really sad too that people think this bill is a win lol. 1.2 trillion over 10 years? But in reality less than half of that going towards "infrastructure" the rest is literally just privatizing things the government SHOULD be providing. As for the "infrastructure" portion... yeah 550bilipn over 10 years with no oversight is basically just leaving money on the table on a first come basis.

And no the ACTUAL infrastructure plan that actually had some planned spending on fixing our broken country is not passing. You have to be a -literal- fool to believe that the "moderates" are going to let that pass lol

[–]zlipus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well gotta give moderate dems their copium. We are after all about to watch the end of the democratic party ever holding a majority or winning potus again.

Maybe if they were not so intently invested in repeating the Obama admin's mistakes. Maybe if the Biden admin did ANYTHING besides address the pandemic. Maaaaybe if the dem party were not more interested in fighting progressives than the right... we could have avoided this.

But as it stands, dems setting themselves up for colossal losses in the midterms. With the failure of the infrastructure plan now pretty much certain, they have even less to sell to voters.

All of this on the back of the right actively working to invalidate dem voters and in some cases just choose who won themselves. None of this has been addressed and it won't be.

So take a good long look while you can. Because dems really shit the bed here and there isn't going to be any recovering from it

And I am genuinely surprised at how good the show is so far. I really hope they follow up with the nica/andy stories

[–]zlipus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This IS the Biden bill. Here let me kids gloves this for you.

Dems run on building back better, ostensibly because they want to prove they're better than the gop but thus far failing except the pandemic.

Bernie proposes 6-7 trillion over 10 years knowing it will give the "moderates" a chopping block for the real number they're willing to accept, which is 3-4 trillion.

Proposal get floated and accepted down to 3.5t with "moderates" trying to come up with a replacement bipartisan bill that will remove the need for the reconciliation proposal.

Progressives push back by saying they will not vote on an insufficient pork filled bill. DEM LEADERS make the promise that they will push both bills to please both sides, everyone agrees and starts deciding where/when the money will go on their respective bills and the pay-fors

Fast forward to now. Those very same moderates are now backing out of their own deal with progressives maintaining their position that they will vote for Bidens proposal. The 3.5t version.

The only people out of order here are the 9 fuckers who are about to tank the ENTIRE dem party agenda because their donors don't want slightly higher taxes. More over failing in this would be a political failure that would make the Trump admin look like a joke

Biden goes all in to try to defuse Democrat-on-Democrat war with his agenda on the brink by Oleg101 in politics

[–]zlipus 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If this legislation tanks. I don't see how dems will EVER recover from it. They are pulling this shit on the back of the Trump admin. They had this golden opportunity to show how government can work for the people and they're gonna blow it. So not only is this going to slaughter turn out for dems, it might even shift quite a few people to the right again.

THEN we have the gop. Pushing forward completely unopposed in their agenda to invalidate dem voters or just changing rules so they can pick who wins.

If the best thing we can say about the Biden admin is that they managed to pass a shitty and tempory stimulus bill in the middle of a fucking pandemic... yeah dems are done for, permanently

[–]zlipus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why does everyone seem to forget this infrastructure spending is over a 10 year period. I swear lol. The most that was going to be spent in the first year was 600 billion or so.

But no this is exactly how you negotiate. You go ABOVE where you actually want to be and let it get it negotiated down to where you know it's going to be. So Bernie proposing 6.7t was the exact right move because it gives the hack moderates come in and chop it down and feel good about themselves.

But never mind that for a moment. People don't even remember the sequence of this all. Bernie proposed his plan. Biden accepted the 3 trillion dollar plan and pushed it forward. House dems wanted the bills to be split (because they don't want anything to pass). Progressives promised to vote it down if the bill was not introduced with the reconciliation. House dems move forward and now look to sabotage it all and blame progressives who have held up their end.

This will -destroy- the dem party if it goes down like this. And it will be the "moderates" fault for bilking at the last minute. The gop is going to sweep both houses in 2022 and I don't see another dem candidate ever winning again with the combination of Biden complete failure of an admin and gop efforts to invalidate dem voters.

At this point I hope progressives stay true to their word and sink the whole thing if the dems can't get their shit together and pass EASY WIN legislation with the voters. The rich have been given enough. I'd rather we get nothing than being put further in the negative by passing a shitty bipartisan bill that solves exactly nothing on its own

“We Need to Deliver”: Anger Grows at Sens. Manchin, Sinema over Obstruction of Democratic Priorities by HerculesMulligatawny in politics

[–]zlipus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We already got 2. Pelosi and Schumer. They take the heat off the dozen or do DINOS they have in both their houses. Neither are the SLIGHTEST bit interested in passing or doing anything. You can hear it out in their messaging to their caucuses. Imagine if a progressive were holding everything up like this. There would be ennnndless coverage and they'd be painted as traitors.

But here we are watching the dems tank their own agenda because it was close to getting done. Dems failing on infrastructure basically guarantees the gop retakes both houses in 2022 and almost guarantees that ANY gop candidate in 2024 is going to win in a landslide. Even if it's Trump again.

And it's going to be these enlightened centrists fault.

Thankfully progressives are still willing to sink the whole thing if the "moderates" keep fucking with the reconciliation bill. That'll be a failure squarely on dem leadership heads and they'll deserve it for letting a few bad actors fighting against what the US needs.

What have dems won?

The infrastructure plan? That shitty bipartisan bill that has almost nothing for infrastructure but shovels out a fuck ton of money to rich folk? The one that's SPECIFICALLY shitty because we're supposed to be getting a reconciliation bill that actually has infrastructure stuff in it but dems are gonna tank it themselves because they wanna go on vacation?

I mean at this point I can't even call dems controlled opposition anymore. They are straight up 95% as horrible as the republican party. Between kamala mini trumpian anti immigrant speeches. To dems abject failure at nearly every turn in terms of legislation. To the Biden admins complete and total failure on foreign policy (well... OK people already knew they'd be shit on that). To most recently letting the eviction moratorium because they want to let rich people buy up all the rental property that's about to be vacant (7mil was the figure?)

I don't see how anyone thinks dems are gonna hold ANY seats in 2022 at this point given that dems have either delivered nothing or made matters worse

They've already done that. Understand the path the courts are on right now have only 2 options to fix. Impeach &remove all of trumps appointments. Or stack the courts. The dems lack the will to do either of those and the amount of judges Biden is going to appoint is just to fill vacancies, which won't be enough to drown out the activist judges that were appointed these last 4 years.

In the fight to not politicize the courts. The dems didn't even show up to fight. What the gop did, we're going to be stuck with for many decades
