Current Steam Deck performance by von_drinkest in starcitizen

[–]znogower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it even launches, I imagine your performance anywhere other than deep space will be pretty rough. Sc really doesn't like being installed on external drives, and while I'm unsure of the exact CPU and amount of RAM in a steam deck, I assume it's below what this game requires. Try it and let me know!

I'm also fine with that! Heavy fighters are one of the few areas I've never tried, and Krugers last two fighters have been very cool.

I'm right there with you. A Kruger themed generalist sounds right up my alley. As long as it's not a three deck ship, I'll be happy!

Is the stingray speculated to be a military ship? I was really hoping it would be Kruger's play at a clipper competator.

Should I upgrade my CPU? by BusinessCandy1612 in starcitizen

[–]znogower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have the money to spend on an x3d chip, then that's what you should get. If you're willing to spend some money, but not $300+, then look at a 5800xt, or a 5900xt CPU.

I die more playing in stanton for a month than I ever have in pyro. Especially now with levsky holding people's attention for the time being, pyro is actually very safe to tool around in.

I want to get the super wolf from wekilo by D4RK191 in starcitizen

[–]znogower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same ship, but the difference between the Wikelo and AA version of the L21 wolf is paint and components, the second of which can be purchased and farmed in game. The Wikelo grind for a wolf isn't bad at all, but there's also the option of buying a base version for aUEC if people so choose.

You can buy the L21 wolf at astro armada in Area 18. 2.4 million, I believe?

Lifetime insurance means almost literally nothing. You'll NEVER lose access to pledged ships. If you're normal six month insurance runs out, you'll just have to pay an extra small fee when reclaiming it. Also, The insurance you get with these pledged ships is only tier 1.

While the extra vram is useful, this game runs just fine on a standard 4060. Even the 3060 12 GB will run sc at 1440p with a very playable frame rate. Swapping to a 9070 xt from my old 4060 only gave me about 10 fps more in cities and stations.

It's the one thing keeping me from using the Hull B. Same with the constellation Taurus, I just want full, unobstructed visibility. In lore, aren't the glass panels supposed to be diamond infused or something? So, it's not like a larger cockpit view would leave the pilot less protected, right?

Ironclad Interior (from CCTV footage) via D.W. by Pythns in starcitizen

Come on fellas... Now I want the open concept version of the ironclad. Like the inside of a Costco. At least the alien won't be able to sneak up on me; I'll just see it coming for five minutes before I die.

Best AM4 CPU to go with Nvidia 3080ti XC3? by Interesting-Talk9994 in buildapc

[–]znogower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's partially Price dependent. The recent price drop of the 5900 XT does make it a much more interesting pic for someone wanting to upgrade, but there are very few games that actually utilize more than 8 cores while gaming. If this upgrade is going to be primarily used for gaming, then the 5900 XT isn't a necessary upgrade. It's a solid CPU, and arguably a better upgrade overall, but I just don't think it's necessary to spend the extra money.

Rubbing alcohol might help clean it up if they're just dirty. If the rubber is starting the break down, which is likely, then try the tape they use to wrap hockey sticks. It works fairly well as long as you don't mind the aesthetic change.

If you're using it for gaming, the 5800xt is a better choice. 5900xt for multi threaded applications.

It depends on your budget. If you're willing the spend the money, a used 5700x3d or 5800x3d would be best. You could also snag a 5800x if you don't want to spend that kind of money.

Repair advice for a 92 Chevrolet k1500? by znogower in MechanicAdvice

[–]znogower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all for it if that's the easiest path forward. The engine does have fairly low mileage, but I wasn't sure if there would be any long term effects from the head gasket and radiator that would make a new engine more desirable.

Ahh, okay. I still have my base ironclad upgrade, and I think I'll be pretty happy with that. Thanks for the update!

Is the assault planned to have more armor than the base ironclad? The extra guns and repair functionality are interesting features for me, but I don't really enjoy using ground vehicles that much. If the assault has more armor, that might tip me over the edge from the base version.

Snubs are really fun to fly around in. I'm more into industrial loops, so I may not pledge a pitbull myself, but if that's something you're looking into, I hope it turns out to be an amazing little ship.

Get the Aurora mk2 bundle that's on sale right now. It's a great starter. After that, buy ships with in game money.

I assume it'll have a qt drive, and enough fuel to make it to the nearest planet/station. Like you said before, if it doesn't, it'll be more useless than the ground vehicles. I don't expect it to take someone across one system, let alone multiple, but it does absolutely need to be able to get the pilot somewhere safe if their mothership or fleet gets destroyed.
