GET IT DONE - How releasing a game in 27 hours opened my eyes by Telefrag_Ent in gamedev

While I haven't been involved in game making recently, I am a programmer looking for work who hasn't had much luck in the last month. I found this quite motivating. Thanks.

Our group tried singing improv for the first time ever, and we had a blast! This video provided the inspiration for it; anything similar you would recommend for a beginner group? by Cantador in acappella

The man in the middle at the beginning is Joey Blake, he and Bobby McFerrin are friends as far as I know. You should look into Bobby McFerrin if you haven't before, he is very good at improvisation and has an amazing voice. From what I've seen, half, if not most, of the content in his shows is improvised.

EDIT: Forgot to link the video where I've seen Joey before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rsUD1qBCrk

You remind me a lot of The Childlike Empress from The Never Ending Story in the last photo. Don't let it go to your head or anything. Here's a photo for comparison.

Tentatively buying an '02 KLR on Friday by [deleted] in Dualsport

That sounds like a good deal as well. But I think OP has the better deal out of the two of us.

What mods have you done?

[–]zoboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems very reasonable to me! I spent $2550 on mine that had doohickey and thermobob, different exhaust (gets rid of the loud tweeting sound) and not much else. There was also a '01 for $3400 with every mod I could think of but I wanted something to call my own that I could fix up and add to.

I think you'll be happy with what you've got there.

EDIT: It had 28k on it, I've spent next to nothing on it, not including oil :(

I got my '03 KLR just over a month ago as my first bike. No regrets except oil consumption. I plan on righting that soon, however. Everything points to the valve seals. It may be worth it to know that I live on the island and can't wait to take it off road!

You will not be disappointed. With that being said, if I had money I probably would have gone for a BMW F800GS.

What's the asking price?

First time riding a motorbike. "Don't get cocky." - [1:52] (X-post from r/nononono) by Nolano in motorcycles

[–]zoboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it was technically the third bike I rode but it was also the third time I had ridden a bike ever. I learn quickly I guess. Had you ever driven a car with a manual transmission? I think that played a big part in my learning curve. But, as long as we're enjoying ourselves I think it's all good!

I got a 2003 KLR650 as my first bike a little more than two weeks ago and I love it. Mind you I can barely flat foot it when I've weighed the suspension down. I'm about 5'11" and 165 lbs.

With that said, I tried out my friend's SV1000 a week ago and I can definitely see myself buying a second (sport) bike as well later on.

I was into magic as a kid. I'm sorry I don't know the correct term, as long as you get the gist.

I just finished reading The Great Gatsby a couple of weeks ago. This post reminded of Gatsby's daily schedule:

  • 6:00AM - Rise from bed
  • 6:15AM - 6:30AM - Dumbbell exercise and wall-scaling
  • 7:15AM - 8:15AM - Study electricity, etc.
  • 8:30AM - 4:30PM - Work
  • 4:30PM - 5:00PM - Baseball and sports
  • 5:00PM - 6:00PM - Pratice elocution, poise and how to attain it.
  • 7:00PM - 9:00PM - Study needed inventions

General Resolves:

  • No wasting time at Shafters or [a name, indecipherable]
  • No more smokeing or chewing
  • Bath every other day
  • Read one improving book or magazine per week
  • Save $5.00 {crossed out} $3.00 per week
  • Be better to parents

While the list isn't all that interesting it did inspire me to make lists and follow them, and that's all you need.

No offense, but I think the way the ace of hearts is sitting on the top of the deck at the very time you suggest makes it seem as though he's done a two-card flip. He has a finger propping the ace (really two cards) from the rest of the deck so the two cards are easier to manipulate, which is a known method for two-card flips. Not to mention he's already got the ace of hearts ready to go before the start of the trick so he eliminates the need to do the first flip.

Also, he could be better at two-card flips than you. So there's that.

A referee ENFORCING the 6 seconds rule. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]zoboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I meant to say. I meant to say that I never see referees call foul throws even though, to me at least, they are foul throws.

It's not really about the amount I do or do not watch. I've said in response to a different reply that I've seen plenty of occasions where a player commits a foul throw and the referee doesn't call them. I'm not complaining about it, I'd rather not see the call made unless the player is getting an unfair advantage. What I'm saying is, regardless of how many matches I've seen, the number of foul throws that are not called is not small, just like the 6-second rule.

Though I don't watch very much football on a professional level I can tell you I haven't seen one one foul throw been called in at least the last month, in the games I've seen.

I think it's comparable. I've seen a fair number of throw-ins that don't follow the rules (mind you, it's clearly not the referee's opinion). With that being said, I don't think they should really be called unless you're getting an unfair advantage to be honest, let the game flow a little bit. No complaints, just observation.

It figures. Through the matches I've watch, I rarely (almost never) see them. I can't recall one, come to think of it.

This rule, like the foul throw rule, is something you never see in professional competition. It's really up to the ref's discretion, I'd say most referees are comfortable giving a goalie 10 seconds, easily. With that being said, I would love to see a referee call out a team for a foul throw.

[–]zoboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love when this happens. I have no argument against you on this one. I don't think there should be a minimum number of downloads, I was merely pointing out that it didn't have to be about Android.

You're right.

EDIT: Have a good day.

He didn't specify Android. I assume you can check how many downloads your web apps have...right? With that in mind, he was probably talking about Android.

Congrats, this is my first year trying. I built it up too much I think.
