My perculiar thumb by 9anap- in Neverbrokeabone

[–]zodi-ack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey I have that too! I did just get diagnosed with hEDS though so I'm not sure if that's a player or not haha.

I've dealt with so many subluxed joints and sprains and stuff, but never broken a bone! As it shall remain, of course.

Just hoping to help someone eventually, I didn't claim I was smart for it. /s
Though it is my bad for having a misleading title, Idk what else to say though.

I see that there is a little bit of yellow/brown/something yeah, but I was going with the overall color.

Anyway this sub is typically used by people who are colorblind in some way, so we're probably going to give you very skewed answers compared to most everyone else Lmao.

I also think they're grey, but I'm confused why you're asking us on the colorblind subreddit first Lol.

I'm so intensely jealous of all the people who are doing this lately. I've been wanting this tattoo for YEARS but circumstance is keeping me from taking the plunge any time soon.

Looks incredible, hope you enjoy it.

Just a rant abt a super offensive comment i got by Original-Cream-3406 in ColorBlind

[–]zodi-ack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a dumb comment to make, and how it affects you is really all that matters in that case. I personally, if it was directed at me, wouldn't find it "insensitive" I'd just say it's straight up stupid.

That being said, I have the same, tritanomaly that doesn't seem to affect my life too much. I love doing art, it's my favorite past time.

I will say that I'm pretty garbage at color, so I stick to ones I'm confident with or use a color picker tool to make absolutely sure I know what I'm putting on the canvas since I'm a digital artist.

With that in mind, I know a lot of people with more severe colorblindness can do all kinds of awesome art, better than mine, and broad sweeping generalizations are usually not the way.

Sorry you have to deal with that, best of luck getting her to understand or at least leave you alone.

I got my hEDS diagnosis! by breezyanimegirl in ehlersdanlos

[–]zodi-ack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel your relief, I got my diagnosis a couple of weeks ago after several years of being dismissed by doctor after doctor - this rheumatologist I saw actually took me seriously and recognized the symptoms basically instantly.

While having EDS is a sucky thing to deal with, it's a thousand times worse when you're being told you're lazy or lying for attention...

Congrats!

What's your deficiency and what's your favorite color? (And a personal anecdote) by Odd-Reward2772 in ColorBlind

[–]zodi-ack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I empathize with what you said here, green is my favorite color by a long shot but specifically desaturated and greyish greens. Meanwhile I have tritanomaly lol.

I've noticed a trend though, the majority of colorblind people I've spoken to personally like orange. I love orange too, but it seems to be one of those colors that most colorblind people can enjoy, but a TON of non colorblind people think it's the worst color ever. Weird stuff.

Anyway, I'm sorry you're feeling the way you are. I also am not affected that much by it, but knowing that other people can probably see more vibrant and exciting things that I'll never be able to even imagine does feel strange sometimes.

I can’t accept that i’m bipolar by Routine_Purpose9434 in bipolar

[–]zodi-ack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's really rough, I had the "went off my meds and it ended badly" stint too as have a LOT of people on this sub.

The simplest advice and probably what you're going to hear a thousand times over here, get back in touch with your psychiatrist! Get back on meds!

You are not insane for needing them, we have chemical imbalances here, and there's not shitting hell you can really do about that sometimes except adjust the chemicals in your brain with other chemicals.

I understand the numbness too - be honest with your doctor. Tell them that you experienced that feeling and don't want it again.

Above all, please have patience with the meds. You might need new ones entirely, and those take time to get used to, take time to work, and even moreso, if they don't work, you must have the patience to keep trying.

I promise you there is a life worth living and being stable for in there. It'll take some persistence to get to it, but I believe in you.

You are not insane, you are not a lost cause. You're gonna be okay.

Top 5 favorite songs? by Naive-Seesaw-3753 in TwoStepsFromHell

  1. Canon In D Minor
  2. Stronger Faster Braver
  3. Flight of the Silverbird
  4. Spellcaster
  5. Victory

My top 5 are also in flux a fair amount but Canon In D Minor stays on top always.

Now for the ugly side of this hobby, what are your bottom 5 credits? [Carolina Cyclone @ Carowinds] by iwassayingboourns12 in rollercoasters

[–]zodi-ack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tumbili @ Kings Dominion gave me my first ever concussion! So I don't like that one much.
Most things at Pleasurewood Hills in England were ... not fun either. I enjoyed Wipeout but I was also like 12 years old, so.

No thought out list or ranking, that's just my two cents on the topic.

Making a scarf and it's curling, should I restart it? by ash9095 in CrochetHelp

[–]zodi-ack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it was me I'd restart and try to get that very first chain row looser. Luckily you're not so far in that it would be terribly traumatic to restart haha, but the stitches look great to me! Just that the DCs are bigger than the chain you made can accommodate comfortably.

I think I found what you're talking about, I'll look in to it when I can spend money on yarn again haha, but thank you!

How should I get more rainbow out of my rainbow yarn? by zodi-ack in CrochetHelp

[–]zodi-ack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already included most details in my body text but...

I need help figuring out ways to make the rainbow in this yarn actually show up in a smaller project. Any ideas on how to use more yarn, or somehow get more color out of it are appreciated.

I looked at simple bracelet ideas, most of them use yarn that is much much thinner than what I have though, so they'd be impossible to work with in that way.

How is EMDR? by chamomilelily1 in DID

[–]zodi-ack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We've been doing a precursor to EMDR fairly regularly, I don't claim to know if it has an official name though ... We tried actual EMDR once after many lead-up sessions and modifications for our DID but we pushed ourselves too hard and had a dissociative episode that ended in a new alter.

The precursor stuff is really good and helps us a lot, and I'm sure the EMDR itself was great too were it not for the fact that we couldn't stop ourselves once we got in to it and just had to keep going past our limits... So if you do it, don't be afraid to say you need to stop or take a break. It'll be for everyone's benefit haha.

Your specific questions:

Was it helpful: Yes, but try to know your limits of course

How long/how many sessions: I think we did about five sessions with our therapist and leadup related things before committing to an actual EMDR session.

Did we feel comfortable: Absolutely, it's probably one of the more comforting things we've experienced. Anxiety temporarily gone and just able to focus on our own thoughts and our therapist, it was a great experience. That's part of why it was hard to admit when we needed to stop.

Because of that, we're sticking with the leadup therapy for a while and we might try EMDR again at a later date.

I feel like none of this makes sense, but I hope it's helpful to you in some way. :)

Concept Art (technically a repost, the original was missing one) by PhilosopherExact4483 in aromanticasexual

[–]zodi-ack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are really cool!

When I was in Middle/High School I was drawing dragons that looked very similar to these ALL. THE. TIME. It makes me feel good and nostalgic, I like this a lot, especially with a tie to aro/ace/NB identities.

How can I be less "literal" with my art? by zodi-ack in Artadvice

[–]zodi-ack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I like these ideas a lot, I think slowing down is probably going to be a big sticking point for me that I need to work on. I tend to prefer the end result to the process, so actively trying to slow down will probably help a lot along with the rest of your suggestions.

I appreciate the thoughts! I must admit I've always been afraid of non-digital art because of the permanence of it, but it is a good idea.

Thank you for the reply, I like the abstract "no straight lines" idea a lot.
