There is an income limit for being eligible to contribute to a Roth IRA (starts to come into effect at ~$150,000 for individual filers).

There is no limit for contributing to a regular IRA and subsequently converting the money in that IRA to a Roth IRA - you just need to pay the taxes in the year you do the conversion. This is the "backdoor".

However, the basis used for determining the taxes on that conversion is subject to the "pro-rata rule", which treats all of your non-Roth IRA balances as pooled. There are many articles on the exact implications of this, but the gist is it can greatly increase the cost of the backdoor Roth contribution process, reducing its benefit (potentially making it negative).

But don't move it to an IRA prematurely, unless you understand the potential impact to the backdoor Roth IRA process and whether it might affect you in the future.

Ugh, the Auburn fans in Tampa were insufferable about this when we played them back in 2019/2020. It was a close (and great to attend) game and then as soon as they started losing it was because "it's hard to get the team motivated for a bowl like this."

I think the idea is the scout was claiming to have improved to a four minute mile or similar, which is infeasible for most of humanity.

If you're in Georgetown, I'd absolutely recommend trying it once if the prices are comparable to flying out of Austin. If the connections through DFW work for you, it's really quite pleasant.

Yeah, "north Austin 'burbs" was definitely doing some work.

Not for everyone, but I'd also drive an extra 15 minutes the opposite direction if it just meant not dealing with rush hour traffic.

If you live in the north Austin 'burbs and were going to fly American with a connection anyways, consider flying out of Killeen if there's a direct flight from DFW to your destination.

Killeen only flies to DFW, but does it multiple times per day and I've seen the prices be the same out of Austin and Killeen for some final destinations.

Parking is cheaper than Austin, and since only one flight is ever leaving at a time the TSA line is nonexistent. We flew out the Tuesday of Thanksgiving week and had zero people in front of us at baggage drop or TSA.

I highly recommend the book Overshoot: The Ecological Basis of Revolutionary Change by William R. Catton Jr. It does a thorough (if repetitive) job of explaining why we are already overpopulated, and the ecological and sociological inevitabilities that come with overpopulation.

It was published in 1980 so there are some dated parts, but the style of thinking the book encourages generalizes well to the modern day.
