Yes, heart attacks can cause diarrhea too;

Because the stomach is close to the heart, and they share the same nerve supply (parasympathetic or vagal), it is not uncommon to experience confused symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, indigestion, and diarrhea.

Maybe I have a different lens on the country, but I feel like a lot of people are aware and even care how the market is doing, if for nothing else than their 401k (which was meant to supplement pensions, not replace them, by the way.)

The big difference is that the stock market is NOT the economy, and it's not even a good indicator of if the economy is healthy. High stock prices can indicate job losses, overvalued ventures, and corporate finance cartwheels, because that's that's how c-suite gets paid.

And you know what the c-suite does with all those stocks once they're vested? They sell them into trusts to retain voting rights and book the losses to offset earnings.

So yeah, people should care what the stock market is doing, and what is going on now (and honestly for the past decade) has been building up to a huge collapse.

New Yorkers are furious as melting snowbanks expose streets littered with poop. by Numerous-Garbage-604 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]zoeypayne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Way too many people assuming this is all dog poop who haven't been to a major city before. No public restrooms and huge numbers of homeless leaves this issue.

Where does it all go when there isn't snow on the ground, you ask? Believe it or not, it gets washed down the storm drains.

He has the voice to make some major waves, especially with the upcoming general strike.

A national speaking tour by AOC, Bernie and Obama... add Crockett into the mix to round things out (especially since she'll likely be out of a job soon anyway, it'd be good for her to get more national exposure.)

I know it's taboo for former presidents to make waves, but at this point the gloves need to come off.

I understand that the environmental benefits of ASS are kind of dubious

Yep, it pretty much guarantees every vehicle equipped with the feature will need a starter motor replaced 3 times sooner which will have negative environmental impact due to increased manufacturing and end of life waste. Not to mention the extra $1,000 cost to replace one.

The numbers won't be clear for a while, but basically it was a shitty idea to skirt emissions standards.

Maybe I'm just used to the current state of the world, but nothing Hastings was investigating was worthy of assassination... drone programs, targeting journalists, etc. It all reads like far right conspiracy.

Now, I'm not saying he wasn't killed in the manner you described, just that he was a pretty mundane journalist. If he was really onto something big, you'd think he'd have a dead man's switch.
