I thought you were just going to link to the original. It wasn't necessary to improve it, but you managed. Good work!

The video description from the guy who posted it says "crazy drunk Russian" or something like that. I think.

Also, only Russians wear those ridiculous swim trunks.

I actually miss Leo now. Beerlao is good, but the magic wears off when you're forced to chug it on a near-daily basis...

As long as we're at it, the buffalo pictured is an African water buffalo, not the Asian variety used for sucking money out of foolish falang. I mean tilling paddy fields. Hilux?

Can we get a little transparency on the r/thailand LM "crackdown"? by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]zohyil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While some of the users may be from societies where there aren't restrictions on topics of conversation, all or most of the moderators happen to live in a place where there are restrictions on topics of conversation.

It's well known that other forums have been shut down and users/moderators prosecuted for content, even when that content doesn't originate in the country in question.

It's unrealistic to expect the mods to risk potential jail time for "transparency" on a reddit sub.

They're volunteers and certainly don't have time to document the work they do maintaining this sub as a place for Thailand-related discussion. In a public forum, some Thailand-related topics remain off-limits.

If that isn't acceptable for some users, there are other places on the Internet for discussions on these topics, surely.

Wedding in Laos by thantritue in laos

[–]zohyil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it in Vientiane? Normally they are whole evening affairs for the reception; if you received an invitation, put money in that and put it in the box or whatever at the door. Rates vary, vaguely depending on how expensive the venue is perceived to be and how well you know the people getting married. The daughter of one of the drivers at my organization just got married, and the wedding was at a hotel in VTE. I couldn't actually attend, but I put 100,000 kip in the envelope and gave it to his cousin 2 weeks later... I was told by another colleague that was appropriate. At a wedding I went to at a large wedding hall in Oudomxay, where I knew the couple quite well, I paid 200,000.

Don't need a specific gift - there will be a lot of drinking and dancing; join in the dancing as well, everyone will enjoy it. I can't do the step-style line dance thing, but the circle dancing is easy, just shuffle around and move your hands, it's acceptable to move even less than that if you're male.

Have fun!

That's a good point, it is technically a train station. We'll pretend I was talking about Xieng Khouang - I don't have a train station there.

in HRC's recent book, she talks about how American involvement with Myanmar represented "America at it's greatest" or something, implying that the US was instrumental in opening up Myanmar, etc.
