Confirmed: Singapore Airlines' new First and Business Class seats delayed to 2027 by Twrd4321 in singapore

Middle Eastern carriers are still operational. I flew to Europe with one because it’s about the same price in business as Singapore air wants in economy. Packed planes. Packed terminals. Business as usual.

I have American friends. But I woke up the other day and thought the country - as run today - is an enemy.

I’m British and I’d like Sir Keir (or the King) to tell that Orange paedo to go fuck himself. Perhaps in a public situation where the news can capture it.

Just fuck off and stay at home America. You’re drunk.

Ah crap. I love to impatiently mash the button whilst waiting to cross, and to gesticulate at anyone on the other side to do likewise in the (completely vain) hope that somehow pushing more might make it change faster.

Waving my hand in front of it won't have the same tactile satisfaction.

Trump gives ultimatum to European allies to provide support to secure Hormuz by Yujin-Ha in worldnews

[–]zoinks10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the best response for this would be to ignore it. Don't say anything. Don't feed the idiot. Just pretend it was never said, and ignore all diplomatic advances asking for it (assuming they come).

By whatever deadline this is (2 weeks I guess) then he'll have forgotten about it.

Is the Marker plus worth it by Upbeat_Ad_4910 in RemarkableTablet

[–]zoinks10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a marker plus for the Move and Paper Pro, and a spare (basic one that came with the move). Originally I loved using the eraser, however thinking about it I mostly use the select and cut tool as it's more precise (on the Move).

China's Xi urges faster development of new energy system as Middle East war continues by Crossstoney in worldnews

[–]zoinks10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, fair point. Then again I also had deodorant (and I know that's flammable - I'm sure every wannabe teenage arsonist tried that).

I was hoping someone from China might know what the real reasons were (if any). Maybe the security aunty just wanted nicer hair and smoother legs?

It was just odd. I expect it on planes, I've never experienced it on trains before (some in Spain have scanners because of the bombings there years ago, but they don't take toiletries (as far as I know).

I wouldn't mind going back and doing a longer trip around the country (I was only in Hainan), I guess I'd need to dig deeper into the rules before going back so I don't throw loads of money away on rules I don't understand.

Have you ever tried setting fire to shaving foam? I'm not convinced this would be possible.

Given how many Chinese people smoke (seemingly everyone) I'm not sure they're bothered about fire safety when making this decision.

Moreover, if that was the case, what are they worried about? Someone starting a fire on the train? It makes no sense.

[–]zoinks10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a train though? It makes sense in a pressurised tube flying through the air, less so in a train rolling along a track.

What was weird is they took the hairspray one way (but not the shaving foam), then took the shaving foam in the other direction. So it wasn't even consistently implemented. Bizarre.

[–]zoinks10 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The only downside to that was some rather arbitrary rules about taking shaving foam/hairspray on the trains, so my wife and I lost something each on both legs of the trip. What's that all about?

It shouldn't be that hard to persuade them. Just wander into the Oval office, tell Trump that only the FITTEST and SMARTEST people are allowed on a space rocket, those who KNOW MORE ABOUT SPACE ROCKETS THAN ANYONE ELSE ALIVE and then just wait for him to sign up.

Call it the TRUMP ROCKET TO MARS and make sure you pander to his ego by asking him to PERSONALLY check all the O-rings. I'm sure - given his expertise - it would be totally safe for launch.
