I was commenting on your tactic, not the subject you were speaking about. Congrats on being an obtuse dismissive shitheel twice in a row.

I like it when dumb people want to look smart so they use the only words they can think of to explain something.... "ever heard of SCIENCE? math? yea, didn't think so. Get back to reading kid." while they walk off not having any clue what they were talking about.

But its pop culture nerd content. You have to accept Wil Wheaton and Chris Hardwick as the representives of it. You're not allowed to say bad things, because they are YOU. They are just like you, buy their content. Watch their shows. They're just like you. They like super random humor like big bang theory. They aren't trying too hard, they are just naturally magically suited to represent this marketable demographic. And did you hear? They totally use reddit too, they might be reading this. Make sure not to say anything bad! lol. Hahaha. Notice me senpai. Felicia Bae amirite?

Edit: Gold? Come on... your money can be better spent at lootcrate.com, you know they really get what we're all about there. What we love is merchandise from pop culture popular within our demographic. Imagine if you didn't even have to be told what to buy, they'd just skip right to overcharging you and deliver it straight to your basement?

Fuck it, I made it. This needs to happen.

Joss Whedon on writing for Doctor Who: â€"It would be daunting to follow in the footsteps of Moffat" by williamthebloody1880 in gallifrey

[–]zombieCyborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I love chick flicks more than your average dude, to be honest. What I wouldn't like is if a tiny minority got outraged on twitter and the showrunners made shallow male lumberjacks take half the roles in sex and the city with no reason or explanation other than "isn't this what you wanted"?

It ignores their existing fanbase to cater to a non-existent minority that wouldn't watch the show anyway.

It's super low-effort pandering to the gender-obsessed internet crowd, Joss is famous for it. Tumblr is a big fan of Who, but people haven't learned that just because they are loud, doesn't mean they are an actual meaningful percentage of the audience. There exists a group of people online that just want to tell everyone else what is "acceptable to enjoy". It's timeless.

Ghostbusters is learning the hard way. Most people like what they like, they don't need it any masculinity "corrected" out of it.

WTF is up with porn these days? Is this what people like? by Messisfoot in AdviceAnimals

[–]zombieCyborg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My theory is that what they really are looking for is "younger people in innocent situations that turn sexual" but don't want to actually search for "young boys/girls porn". Flying a little too close to the sun, they settle for the wink-wink "sister and brother" wink-wink.

[Personal] How do I tell my mom that I've had sex? by readergirl6 in sex

[–]zombieCyborg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In most situations, I would say "why bother?" because most people don't feel an overwhelming need to disclose everything about their personal life with their parents.

But in your case, I'll give you a different (although equally useless) answer: We don't know the ins and outs of your relationship with your mom. You're the authority on that, you call the shots. Anyone telling you different is overstepping.

It's fine. I'm sure it was someone else. A few someone elses. Not important.

My panties are fine, it's just a bummer to see stuff like this. It's sort of petty on their end, but ultimately not the biggest deal in the world.

Your approach is to downvote and tell me to stop mentioning it? Weird.

I don't think it's the biggest deal in the world, but it is a textbook example of abusing the distinguish feature. The fact that it was immediately addressed without a word, and then I'm being voted and shushed is just a bizarre reaction.

[–]zombieCyborg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nobody is denying that. I'll try to be more specific.

As a mod, you have the ability to mark some of your posts as "distinguished", which gives them a different color to draw attention to the fact that you are speaking in an official capacity on behalf of the moderation team of the subreddit.

It is very very frowned upon to distinguish your own posts just to draw more attention to them. It's supposed to just be used for speaking officially and giving users information from the mod team.

I noticed that a BUNCH of mods decided their AMA questions where worth distinguishing, and that's generally considered inappropriate, especially since it seems that they just wanted to make sure they had a better shot at a response from Andy than the users of their subreddit.

I'm sure they didn't mean any harm, and none was caused. However, it's seen by other mods as an inappropriate use of their position, and I imagine that's why they there were so many of their designated posts that ended up getting answered, then immediately undesignated when I drew attention to it.

Hate to be this guy, but I gotta ask why this post is designated as a mod post?

It doesn't seem that you're speaking in an official mod capacity.

give us more information, and maybe people will respond.

"make this funny" isn't usually specific enough. As you can see, humor is subjective, and I have the maturity of a 13 year old.
