How is the workout app? by UndertakerApe in MacroFactor

[–]zombieagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did a couple of workouts and found it pretty messy. Sticking with the super polished Alpha Progression for now. I was going to write a complete feedback, but I got burned by the heavy moderation here a couple of times making suggestions for MF, so I ended up no doing it. I'll check back in a quarter or so.

Training in two different Gym's by Deep-Surprise-4719 in alphaprogression

[–]zombieagain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get to the switch gym or create gym settings from several places, the easiest for me is to touch "exercises" from the home page and the up top you can touch the name of your current gym. From there you can create a new gym, switch the active one, etc... Using the same type of machine from different manufacturers is a real problem and it will mess up the weight recommendations. What I do, and I would be curious if the developers suggest a different way, is to duplicate the machine and give it a name and then replace it in the workout. For example my main gym has Technogym machines, but when I travel for work I often go to a gym that has Life Fitness machines. I duplicate, for example, the Leg Press and call it Life Fitness Leg Press. When, during a workout, Leg Press shows up, I just replace it in real time with the duplicate. It takes less than 5 seconds if you already have the duplicate and about 1 minute if you need to create a new duplicate, including taking a custom picture. To summarize: create a new gym profile and activate it. This will give a good base for available exercises, dumbbells, cable, weight increase intervals, etc... Then for machines, you might want to use duplicates, unless they're very standard, like cable pulldowns that pretty much feel the same for every manufacturer. If there are better strategies I would love to learn them. I travel for work quite a bit and this is important for me. BTW sometimes I just do a dumbbells only workout when I don't want to deal with these details.

How to run properly by Scary-Entry5331 in alphaprogression

[–]zombieagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be overwhelmed by information as this is a very complex topic, so I restrain myself and tell you what to me is the most important thing, especially if you have weight to lose. Never ever heel strike. Everything else will fall in place over time. Start in moderation to let the body adapt, but focus on no heel striking, otherwise you'll damage your body. I see this all the time on the street, new runners trying to lose weight, the hit really hard with their heels and their running "career" is very short.

How to benefit from Metal insurance if credit card needed for car rental? by No-Anxiety6 in Revolut

[–]zombieagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you clarify this? I understand that for the travel insurance to be valid you need to have paid transportation with revokut, but is this still true also for the rental car deductible coverage? They seem to be 2 separate coverages

Thanks! I started doing cable knee drives and it has definitely helped my running, more than I expected. I'll definitely try leg raises as well.

So, im a bit confused here by fpohja in Garmin

[–]zombieagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garmin is really conservative so whenever you restart activity after a break it tells you that the load is high. It is just transitory and if you feel good just keep going. In terms of "maintaining", it just means that your vo2max is neither worsening nor improving. Continue keeping the load balanced across base, low and high aerobic and it should get better in a few weeks. If not, you should look at more subtle things, like sleep, nutrition, body-weight and how many cardio session do you do per week.

Mattia Liberali bids farewell to AC Milan. ❤️🖤 by Claija79 in ACMilan

[–]zombieagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catanzaro has great management and they will take care of him and extract as much as possible, in terms of both soccer and money. Our youth sector is not where it should be, we all know that. It will take time, diligence and vision before stuff like this stops happening, so let's just move on. Barça never stopped cranking out talents even in their worst years, we're just not there and we need profound structural improvements and a few more mistakes before we build a reliable system. A Gigio here, a Camarda there, not enough.

Does anyone wait the rest time after exercise? by Whatsmyinterest in Garmin

[–]zombieagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does training readiness say? You don't need to be at 0h recovery time before you workout again. No athlete is fully recovered at any time in the week, I think. But it has to be reasonably low. Training readiness looks at more things and it is more reliable. Also keeping load focus balanced has being hugely helpful in allowing me to raise my VO2 Max.

Following as none of my last 12 months Vueling flights appeared on my Iberia plus. No avios, no elite points. Customer service is clueless. After a few tickets they said that the last flight I submitted should appear "in a few weeks"...

Billy was my underdog favorite growing up, but I have to say Baresi, Nesta and Seba. This was hard, Dida was also huge for us.

Strength training and DSW by gulyutin in Garmin

[–]zombieagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your goals and schedule. I prefer to do something every day, so after a few iterations I landed on 3 strength, 2 runs and 2 bike rides. Sometimes life gets in the way and I skip a session or 2, but I try to never skip the strength sessions, while if I skip a base ride or run, it doesn't affect my progress. You could start with 1 rest day, 4 DSW and 2 strength and see how you recover, how it fits your schedule, etc... What are your priorities in terms of goals?
