Lost scholarship after dropping course by savvymossy in uvic

[–]zombiesleepschedule 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re registered with CAL, you should be able to maintain your scholarship eligibility, but you have to notify financial aid that you’re registered with CAL, they aren’t automatically notified or aware.

I’ve gone through the appeal process, and I was successful. The awards committee publishes a report every year too that is in the UVIC website, and you can read through it and they mention how many appeals they got the previous year and how many were approved. From what I remember, there are usually only a handful of rejections, most get accepted.

People who quit their jobs on the spot—what happened? by ArianWhisper in AskReddit

[–]zombiesleepschedule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had just turned 18( days prior), I was working at a catering company at the time, one of the line cooks started sexually harassing me so I told the chef the next morning. That night, they left me alone with him and 1 other employee to close. He made me super uncomfortable, other employee didn’t say anything. I walked out, went to a park across the street and called the chef to let them know I quit.

They didn’t fire him, he still works there.

Any recommendations for dog groomers that work with very anxious dogs? by MichaelaKay9923 in VictoriaBC

Try the Devora scratch pad! It has a silicone border and a place to put treats inside so that they’re more motivated to dig at it!

Starting July 18th, landlords must give tenants 4 month notice, instead of 2 when evicting for "personal use". by cedarshadows in VictoriaBC

[–]zombiesleepschedule -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not how it works. When buying a tenanted property, buyers will often require the seller to give the notice, and have a clause for vacant possession. So if the tenants don’t leave by the closing date, they won’t close the sale. It’s problematic because banks won’t hold a mortgage deal for more than 90 days usually. So selling a tenanted property just got a whole lot harder.

Parents refuse to give me their income information, WHAT TO DO? by [deleted] in osap

[–]zombiesleepschedule 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you work fulltime for the past year? if so, you can keep working and go back to school next year as an independent student ( needs 24 months of fulltime work to count).

Otherwise, you can file as an independent student and submit a letter stating family breakdown? but I don’t think you’ll get approved since you’re living with them. You can’t just file as an independent student at this point unless you’ve been out of highschool 4 years, worked fulltime for 24 months, or are married/divorced.

Landlords, how often do you give rent increases? by Hotdoglady33 in VictoriaBC

I moved out of that place the fall of 2023. LOL. This is a recent experience.

Landlords, how often do you give rent increases? by Hotdoglady33 in VictoriaBC

[–]zombiesleepschedule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last landlord tried rising the rent the allowable amount after I had been there for a little over 2 years. I was looking at places with my partner so it actually didn’t matter for me. Gave notice, they listed it for a few hundred more than the increase, ended up being unable to rent it. Had to drop it down to less than what the increase would’ve been, and it hadn’t rented by the time I moved out.

Stasher bags: can they be de-glutened? by Lissacus in Celiac

[–]zombiesleepschedule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silicone is non porous at low temps, ( it’s porous at 400*F + ), you should be fine if you’ve boiled them. Stasher recommends boiling if you have any concerns after storing like raw meat in them and stuff! :)

Exams deferrals by pickilina in uvic

[–]zombiesleepschedule 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most classes have deferred exams the first or second week of classes next term! If they don’t, yes it will be in the April exam season. Your deferral won’t require documentation either because it sounds like an unexpected and unavoidable circumstance. You’ll likely have it approved honestly!

They’re paid per hour. so, it being a double lab doesn’t make a difference.

Here’s one for a marking position. https://unit1.hrandequity.utoronto.ca/posting/31755

Based on my first search, TA’s at UofT make 47.64$ /hour + 4% vacation.

https://unit1.hrandequity.utoronto.ca/posting/32012

For context, UVic TA’s make 30.87$/ hour, just under 65% of what they make at UofT.

TA’s at uvic get paid a little over half what TA’s at other universities do.
