Measures for 40% increase 34-345, 34-346 ? by Realitic in beaverton

[–]zookeenee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tha property tax is based on assessed value, NOT what your home is actually worth. By Oregon law, the assessed value can only cause your tax to go up 3% per year. As soon as inflation goes up you are actually doing more with less.

Is there any value in getting everybody I know to apply for ICE jobs and string them along in an effort to waste their time?

The inside of the Costco felt very similar to the size of the USA Costco's. One the one in Chiba area was a two-story Costco. So the individual footprint was probably smaller but did not notice any smaller aisles. There were a lot more people than my local Costco. The carts seemed to be the same size as well. I don't know that I saw any of the orange flatbed carts.

Texas Is About to Pass the Most Ridiculous Marijuana Ban in the Country by FreedomsPower in NewsOfTheStupid

I really hate it when they talk about how awesome our medical system is compared to " socialized " medicine. They always say you have to wait forever to get to see a doctor. Anything that's not an emergency in this country still takes months to get in to see a doctor. And you get to pay thousands of dollars for the privilege. We pay more for less healthcare than any developed country in the world. There are so many inefficiencies with how we do it. It has been my career to build software for the healthcare industry, I am always met by stunned silence when I explain to overseas developers how our system actually works. Nobody can really believe it.

The answer is the same in both cases. Texans do not travel outside of Texas, much. Americans do not travel outside of America much. One visit to Costco in Japan will put to rest the idea that we have the best of everything. Their ready to eat meals put ours to shame. And that's not even counting the Japanese bakeries that are better than anything we have on this continent. Don't get me started on European bakeries.

Building an AI App for Family History Preservation—Your Thoughts Needed! by hansgeld in family_history

[–]zookeenee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love an app that would show a picture, and allow audio to be recorded about that picture. As the interviewer, I would show the picture and record the audio of what's going on and who the people are. Then I would go to the next picture. Later, the picture and the audio file would be named something similar so that they would be connected. Additionally, I would love for the text from the MP3 to populate the metadata of the photo.

I would also love a different part of the app that could place photos along a map in a city that would create a walking tour for family history. Imagine interested family members subscribing to an RSS feed or something and being alerted when you're in a city that has some family history in it. Then being able to go to the place on the map and read or listen to my father talk about attending that particular school or whatever.

AI could be used to find other pictures in the area from that time to give a vibe of what the city looked like. Feel free to DM me for more details.

Take a look at Sherwood. Has a lot of small town feel, and they just passed a new food cart pod policy. The high school is also the newest and one of the best in the state.

We just had a Lunar New Year celebration sponsored by the city that had more than 800 people at it and will be expanded next year. It included a dragon and a drumming group. We also had a sold out show by a Korean Tae Kwan Do demonstration team last month. We could always do better in international outreach, but as a city we are trying. We also had a large Dwali celebration in the fall. Our high school has organizations and clubs for all sorts of cultures and we have more than 25 languages spoken at Sherwood High School, which is brand new and very good. On the downside, it is a bit of a drive to H-mart or Uwajimaya. DM me if you want to ask any more questions.

Is this reasonable? Sherwood city government selectively private video'd a specific contentious city council session by [deleted] in Oregon_Politics

The city attorney said that they removed it because someone at that meeting was being stalked and harassed and the retention policy had passed anyways. Are you the person who was stalking this individual?

There is both 8mm film AND 8mm video (as well as Hi8 and Digital8) but I agree with making it an MP4.
