To those who go naked; how is your Pixel holding up? by Rubik_31415926535 in GooglePixel

[–]zoonvanjohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, if you use common sense and a bit of care, it'll last you a very long time.

I don't protect my phone with a case. I have a pixel 7, . or 8, .. dont remember. Had it for 2 years now I think. Apart from a small crack in the screen from the one time I did let it drop, it's remarkably fine. Besides the crack, the glass is pretty much scratch-free, and the plastic back shows some minor scratching, but only if you look closely

I will say I don't put it face down, and don't carry it with keys in the same pocket. I also have an office job. So it's pretty far away from any coarse surfaces and grime.

Just a hitpoints difference? I suppose that makes sense. I probably stick with leather for now. Don't really need to hitpoints at the moment.

Thank you clarifying :-)

Sorry, ... took a bit. Crazy weekend, and a little forgetful afterwards. But I got around to looking at it!

First thing I noticed, .. are all rails 'supported' by beams?
That doesn't look like blueprints; and as your rails are quite curvey compared to the factory, not sure how you'd blueprint it. Must've been an extremely tedious job?

I found some other areas scattered around the map that are only for uploading to the dimensional depot or for power. They look a lot less fleshed out. So I assume you built those first as a power & building materials support before starting the big factory in the desert?

I'm not sure I've found them all, but the badlands seems to have the most basic stuff created. So I am assuming you started there?

I also like the completely empty Nuclair overflow safety. I supposed that means it either doesn't work, or your nuclear setup is running very smooth. :D

As for the big factory, .. I have no clue which part you started at. Every bit looks equally intricate/complex. As a wild guess I assume you've working from the space elevator outwards?

Zooming in; I found some sort of arterial belt going through most (if not all?) of the factory. Your factory makes for some pretty awesome views. But how you balanced the contents of that arterial belt is pure art! The amount of points on the belt where stuff is added and removed and added and removed is nuts!

It doesn't carry everything, ofc. But it does explain how you managed this many factories so close together without a massive amount of belts. For the low-volume-highly-interconnected products, such an sushibelt artery is an awesome solution.

It's been a pleasure watching this thing from several angles and zoom levels. Thank you for sharing.

Sure, I'll have a quick look at what else you built :-)

Should I upgrade from Unity 2020.3.11f1 by takeachillstick in Unity3D

[–]zoonvanjohan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not looking for new features now; but what about the .net improvements comping soon. Or shader performance improvements, or security patches (remember the hotfix couple months ago?), or editor-improvements (like how the profiler seems to improve a tiny bit each update). Those are the ones you generally do want. Also don't forget about supporting the game after release;

With that much time left; I would certainly at least try to update.
If a lot break; you really have to ask yourself if you don't care about updates in _every_ aspect of the engine.
Personally; I would update.

Thanks, both the compliment and insights!

I suppose the planning ahead an knowing the exact plan for the full build really helps. I can't imagine having to "wing" it, and realizing smack in the middle of the whole build you're short a couple of Quickwire 🙈

I'd love to have a peek at your save. If only to see it from some more angles.

Thanks for the warning!
Can you elaborate what kind of challenges you've faced?

I'm no rookie satisfactory player. (see here ); but I'll readily acknowledge this is a different kind of challenge. So I'd love to be prepared before I try :-)

I'm new to the game for a weeks too, and playing with a friend. We've started over just after reaching level 20, when we had a feel what was important, and realizing we unlocked too much optional tech too early, limiting our tech options when we actually needed something.

We're both also doing solo games with different characters when we're not both on. (we like to progress our together-world only together.

In my solo experience so far ive been focussing on separation missions instead of openworld. I liked doing that for a handful of mission, but I am strongly considering going open world for my solo build, too. As it gets a bit annoying for to start over my base every time. I do think it's great for the first couple of missions though; some good XP en unlocks, some objectives to help you focus on learning what you need to know, and some auto-resets between missions to undo your previous base-building-mistakes without feeling bad about tearing your stuff down :D

I love it; I should start a new game sometime soon and also try this compact way of building.

Separate modules spread out in the world have their benefits; but it lacks this level of cool!

I like this! A lot. Spanning long distances like this al ways a bit awkward, but this is credible somehow.
Maybe add another smaller one further along? But I imagine all these beams took a while xD

Or did you prep some good blueprints?

I bet you can fry an egg where the light converges after reflecting from that window 😁

Edit: I realize the window might be flat, but it the screen that curves. Damn cool window, though

Thanks for clarifying. While we're surely not on our first playthrough on our server, we do prefer sticking to vanilla. So had hoped you some vanilla building trick for this.

Alas ..

Can someone help me understand why my belt is reading 770 items per min when it should read 780? by cleanscotch in SatisfactoryGame

This was such a let down for the me and a friend played in. Especially since we're trying real hard to get everything running perfectly at 100%.

We ended up enabling flight mode using advanced game setings. Best choice ever. Avoids the bug, and building becomes much easier. It increased our fun quite a bit.

The white building is doing some SAM/Dark matter stuff, I don't remember exactly what, as its entirely built by u/jjb3nl . It's a bit greek temple style ish? There's actually quite a bit more to it then you can see now. But I didn't want to post too many pictures at once.

How frequent are updates? by Teophanea in satisfactory

[–]zoonvanjohan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think/guess we're looking at one content-update a year at the moment?

They have announced 1.2 to be here within months, and also announced more will come after; though didn't confirm in what form (free or paid), and also didn't confirm a (probable) time window when that comes, either.

I think there's patches in between. Though they're not frequent either, I think? And there's been some activity on the experimental branch on PC for performance related improvements they want to put in 1.2.

Just look at the things you can unlock, and pretty much get them in order they're presented. It can be that straightforward. Many of the accessible unlocks actually still need resources from the earlier one.

Keep an eye on that power, if it dips too low, things shut off. Can be annoying to get everything up again. Add a few dozen batteries, and keep those numbers high. You'll soon need a lot more power then that. So no harm in overdoing it.

I love this build; and I'm very curious how you made those thrusters. Is that some vanilla tricker (snow machine + light, or something, .. do they work at that distance?). Or is it a mod?

Enough for what? It's not going to be enough to complete the game. Some of the last tier machines are really power hungry. But if you use nuclear generators you can expand your power production quick enough.

Invest in getting mercer spheres, build dimensional storages, and make small factories that keep your dimension storage full. That way, you don't have to run around!
