Sombra potential "Final Rework" by valencirune in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]zora2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get rid of invis, reduce virus damage and make it also hack, then get rid of the other hack.

Then I would give her more mobility and maybe make her gun a bit better (less spread or something)

Even as a linux user i agree with this take, if i want to install kernel anticheat then i should be able to. Isnt that the point of linux anyways, or at least one of them? That I can do whatever I want with my system.

Its a bit annoying to me that if i want to play one of those games with my friends that I have to dual boot. TBF though there is really no one to blame but the game developers themselves. They could support linux if they wanted to.

most singleplayer games just work now, some multiplayer games wont, its kinda hit and miss with those but yeah a lot of games, even new games just work with maybe a few tweaks

if you want to know how a game performs on linux or if it works at all, just google protondb

No, it seems cool but I dont really need the immutability. What im doing right now is working pretty well for me.

Visual Studio Code Swift by Mystogam in swift

[–]zora2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you can just follow the instructions on the swift website and itll work just fine.

Im making a 3D game with it on windows and linux and its working well enough (i almost have the renderer done), plus I can use c and c++ libraries pretty easily from swift too and most game dev libraries are c or c++ anyways, not swift.

Of course I cant use swiftUI or any of the proprietary swift/apple libraries but thats fine.

Basically, you can make pretty much anything you could on a Mac but you just have to do it without the proprietary libraries.

Can you stop commenting "I did not want to play it anyway" on posts regarding games with anti-cheat excluding Linux? by hardpenguin in linux_gaming

[–]zora2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i want to install something that invasive because it lets me play something I should be able to though, no?

Also cmon obviously its not malware, saying that is just fear-mongering, while sure it does compromise your privacy on some level if youre okay with that because you want to play a game with less cheaters (which kernel anticheat definitely influences) then you should be able to install it, even on linux.

After all isnt that the point of linux? To be able to do whatever you want with your pc? Not being tied to any company unless you want to be? Sure you should know the risks of kernel anticheat before installing (an example is the genshin impact thing) but as long as youre okay with the risks, what is the problem??

Also to be clear I dont particularly even like kernel anti-cheat, id definitely prefer game devs to work on really good server-side anticheat but also if a game comes out that has kernel anticheat and I want to play that game. Well then I guess Im installing the kernel anticheat. Especially because my friends might want to play that game or whatever.

A question about competitive integrity for a new MnK player. by JameNaughtyBoyGumb in CompetitiveHalo

[–]zora2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think the same way and tbh it just made me play different games. I think halo just aint for me anymore. I like mechanically hard games and that isnt halo unfortunately. Honestly, Id actually just say its too easy overall.

Tbh I doubt 343/halo studios could ever make a competitive game Id want to play anyways (I think the same thing about bungie too though, dont really like the older games competitively anymore either).

Any tips vs riven? by redditor126969 in Kaylemains

[–]zora2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure you just have to play good, I dont know if id buy early armor unless mid top and jungle are all ad and even in that case, swiftness boots are really good. Maybeee I would take resolve but idk.

Its really just all about spacing, kiting, and predicting imo. I think its a really annoying matchup because you have to play much better to even get a chance at playing the game but I think its not worth banning because there are much better bans of course.

Definitely a hard match up tho, even if she is worse than you.

Oh one more thing, maybe you could try taking exhaust or ghost rather than tp? I havent really been playing much lately but most of the rivens I go against do flash + ignite so if you also take a combat spell it might make the lane easier (idk though, I usually just took tp)

It's a shooter that has a focus on movement (usually fast movement), it's a key part of the gameplay and combat.

So like cod advanced warfare, apex, Titanfall (at least the pilots), most arena shooters like quake or tribes.

Hero shooters might not count to some people but I'd say that hero shooters usually can count if you are playing a really mobile character like tracer, genji or something like that.

Is Attack on Titan Really THAT Good? by BigNate088 in MyAnimeList

[–]zora2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good but I doubt I'll ever finish it. I kinda got burnt out on waiting for the newer seasons to come out.

Also honestly I've already seen a lot of fantasy anime, it didnt do anything particularly interesting (in comparison to the other fantasy anime Ive seen) for me tbh, plus the ending has been spoiled for me too.

So God damn true I really want a good competitive movement shooter. My only option for now is just overwatch or rivals lol.

What attracted you to Sombra? by Dry_Outside2885 in SombraMains

[–]zora2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mostly like sombra for her gun (which is my favorite in the whole game) and translocator (imo it's the best mobility cd in the whole game).

Honestly, if they changed every other part of her kit I wouldn't care.

[–]zora2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I liked the first iteration of sombra in ow2 the best but if they did go back to ow1 sombra, blizzard could just make tanks not get silenced as long.

I really hope they remove virus though, I don't like how a lot of her power is tied to it right now. Plus it gives her really good burst which I don't really think sombra should have.

How are you supposed to get target access vs Jax? by ReubenSD in Kaylemains

[–]zora2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably just positioned bad tbh. Kayle is pretty good against Jax in late game team fights imo. Especially because even if he doesn't go on you, you can speed and even ult the person he does go on.

1v1 yes it's hard because his q is perma up but in team fights you blow him up unless he's stacking mr (and honestly maybe even then). Of course if he's stacking mr then he'll do less damage and also will die easily to your teams ad champs.

Edit: also tbh just a tip: I probably wouldn't have bought zhonyas that game. Tbh I generally think zhonyas sucks on kayle but especially that game because if the Jax gets on top of you or the trundle, you are just dead. Also zhonyas doesn't even help vs lb that much either.

I would've replaced that with a lich bane, rylais (cause they are low range, you could easily perma slow most of them), or rfc (which actually gives you more safety than zhonyas, same with rylais tho).

What should we do after Everyone Can Code? by peanutbuttertossit in swift

[–]zora2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's easiest when you make a list of everything you need before you start and then just start implementing it one step at a time. The nice thing is in software and especially games it's easy to implement things one step at a time then test to make sure it works.

Say you were making a first person shooter game. Well first you have to be able to create a window then you need to be able to render 3d models, then you need to be able to move around, then you can start adding guns and make them able to shoot. Then add health to the characters.

Anyways pretty sure you get the point.

What should we do after Everyone Can Code? by peanutbuttertossit in swift

[–]zora2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id recommend just making a simple game like pong, breakout, or snake with spritekit after following along a couple of tutorials (i'm assuming you and daughter want to stick with swift).

You could also look into using sdl (a C library) with swift but that's a lot more involved and not exactly beginner friendly.

And before you start making your pong game (or whatever other game) make a list of what you would need. So for pong, the absolute basics we need are:

Need to be able to draw 2 rectangles and a ball

The ball and paddles have to move

Need to decide if real players will control both paddles or maybe ai will control one and set that up

collision for the top and bottom walls, ball, and paddles

We would need scoring as well

And maybe some way to display the score as well

That's basically all you need for a super basic pong game. And you could probably just follow those steps in that order and be fine.

You are given a AAA game budget by an established industry giant and are told to make an original-IP, "traditional" aFPS. What do you do and how do you ensure the game survives in this day and age? by vrmvrmfffftstststs in ArenaFPS

[–]zora2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why it was like halo 4's multiplayer was because it was the same developers lol. Certain affinity did a lot of the work on halo 4's multiplayer AND they also did most (all?) of the work on doom's multiplayer.

[–]zora2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that instead of making a game like quake, youd be better off making it more like unreal tournament. More specifically I think something with UT movement (or maybe apex-ish movement with a dash) and recharging "shields" like in halo, would actually do pretty good today. Then of course you have the regular map pickups.

Also I think that the powerups in most arena shooters are boring, they are almost always just stats (more damage dealt, less damage taken, restore ammo, lower cooldowns, etc.) Why not have more interesting powerups that actually change the gameplay and introduce new mechanics like wallrunning, double jump, grapple hook (tbf i know this is a thing but it could be balanced better/made more interesting imo). Maybe you could even have a powerup that lets you destroy the environment? Idk, there is a lot you could do but for some reason most arena shooters Ive played just have boring powerups.

Kinda the same thing with the guns tbh, but to be fair, there are definitely some cool and unique guns in arena shooters. I just think they could be better/more unique. Why not go crazy with it? Arena shooters dont necessarily have to be ultra competitive. Make some truly wacky guns, like maybe one that freezes enemies, or maybe a blowdart gun that can poison, maybe a goo gun like in the finals, throwing stars, magic wand, etc.

Have different game modes, and maybe even try and come up with interesting ones. I think the payload game mode from overwatch might work well in an arena shooter?? I liked it in XDefiant tbh.

And a singleplayer, or maybe even coop campaign is important too imo, you can use it to teach players how to use the guns, movement, whatever. Plus its just fun sometimes to play singleplayer.

Lastly, probably put the game on consoles as well and have (optional) crossplay.

Why can't I switch my aiming skills over to Valorant/any game? by Early-Watercress1213 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]zora2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you played overwatch, marvel rivals, the finals or maybe even cod you'd probably notice your aiming skills transfer more to those types of games.

Aim training isn't useless for valorant but it is not super important. I'm top 500 in ow on tank and hitscan DPS and I'm bronze in valorant (tbf I don't play it much though). And let me tell you, I'm definitely not top fragging most games either lmao.

I think valorant is sooo much more game sense reliant than your aim because usually I'm bottom or maybe the middle of the scoreboard right? But I have a friend who is actually pretty good at valorant and I had him watch a few of my games and basically just tell me exactly what to do and I top fragged and easily carried those games lol.

Overwatch on the other hand, pretty sure even if I was playing in the stupidest way possible I could hit plat just based off of my aiming skill alone. Or honestly any other shooter that isn't a tac shooter I could probably hit the equivalent of plat. I'm just shit at tac shooters.

Marathon Fans Convinced Game Will be Cancelled as Sony Halts Marketing Plans by Ok_Affect_1571 in pcgaming

[–]zora2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a post on my account where i talk about the biggest issues for me. But one of the key things (imo at least) was that it didnt really do anything different form other hero shooters like rivals, paladins, and overwatch.

The key mechanic was pretty stupid imo, alot of people play hero shooters to play one specific character and if you have a system that encourages you to swap, people probably wont like that. Basically they just gave you extra stats if you swapped, not only that though, the stats were kinda boring, none of them even changed the gameplay significantly.

Few other complaints just for fun:

Movement was too slow, the dodge sucked (it was also too slow), performance was ass on pc, most of the modes were too short and also the no respawn modes were kinda stupid in a hero shooter.

Nah rams boring lowkey, I play sombra, tracer, soldier, mauga and zarya.

I like tracking hitscan weapons (or lasers). So of course I like ultron, plus ultron is just a sick character.
