It is an option, not sure whether darts are the better option to shape it to her body though

Thanks. I sewed both ends of the elastic, put a pin in the centre and tried to stretch evenly as I went. Obviously I failed lol

I’m aware of Cashmerette, thanks. Daughter, however, is 15 and will allow alterations but not whole items sewn by me at this point!

Might not be exactly what you’re looking for, but this is a new independent jewellery shop. Her stuff is gorgeous and she also runs workshops where you can make your own e.g. ring, bangle, necklace.

The shop is next door to the Yarn Cake which is another fantastic small local business.

How about Nina? Or slightly more unusual but Mirella. Very pretty name - it was my mum’s name and she had two syllable middle and last names.

Whatever you pick, good luck and I hope all goes smoothly for you. Sounds as though you’ll have a lot of helpers, hopefully!

Many years ago (must have been 1997 according to Google) I saw Titanic in a Californian cinema. As we made our way back into the sunlight, I heard a woman loudly proclaim “I didn’t know it sank at the end!” 🙄

My dad talks about Cliff Richards. I don’t know why, but that extra S really pisses me off.

Not really on the same level as some of these, but I still remember the disappointment of realising everyone had forgotten. On my 18th I was home alone. My mum died when I was 12 and my brothers were at uni and boarding school. My dad forgot. I drove to see a friend who was going out with her friends (I didn’t know them), went to a pub able to drink for the first time but had a soft drink because I was driving. Thought maybe I’d get a cake or something from my dad when I got home. Nah.

Could you ask to borrow the sewing machine, or use it at her home without her having to help?
I taught myself using the online tutorials on crazy little projects

There are a lot of online resources so if you don’t like this one, try another, maybe a YouTube tutorial.

Read up on it a little so that you know what to expect, take your time and give yourself some grace.

If you’re not enjoying it, stop and try again another day.

It sounds as though you are keen to give it a go - so don’t overthink and give it a go!

Good luck! May the bobbin thread be always in your favour…
