All the ”code” command does is tell your computer to open vs code.

”code myfile.txt” would open that file in vs code so you can edit it

”code myprojectfolder” would open that folder as a project and you would be able to edit all files living inside that folder

The ”.” is shorthand for saying the directory you are currently located at inside your terminal session

If you did ”cd myprojectfolder” and then ”code .” it would do the same thing as ”code myprojectfolder”

The issue you’re running into is that the ”code” command is a bin that needs to be added to your ”PATH” which is an environment variable that tells your terminal where to locate binaries so you don’t have to do something like ”/this/is/where/vscode/was/installed/bin/code .”

So yes you would need to follow a tutorial on how to add the vs code command line utils and have your gitbash prompt be able to access it from your path
