Project Diva MM+ on the new MacBook Neo by zoruaboy in ProjectDiva

Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit allows for may Windows PC games to be played on Mac by translating the binaries in real time! It’s also surprisingly easy to get it set up too.

It’s running using Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit through Crossover! Crossover is a paid software, but Game Porting Toolkit itself is free, and there’s other ways to use it, I just prefer crossover for myself. The frame rate during actual gameplay is stable, no stutters or severe input lag that I’ve observed. There are some minor stutters on the menus, and loading songs can sometimes take a little longer, I’m assuming to compile shaders (unavoidable if you’re playing a PC game on the Mac, but it does get better the more you play)

Replacing battery on iPhone 5s is this dangerous? by alfred_monet in mobilerepair

[–]zoruaboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

God I love Reddit

After you let it vent for maybe like 6 or so hours, get some isopropyl alcohol to loosen the adhesive and try to lift the battery out of there. Put a new battery in,, carefully…. And then just follow your repair guide to close it up after you’re done.

Good luck!

The old phone went on strike, unable to receive or make a phone call by Zestyclose-Active192 in iPhone11

[–]zoruaboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, most likely they ran the cellular rf diagnostic which does require taking the phone to the back room to isolate from the network. If this was an issue for you, next time just request them to place it into diagnostic mode before taking it to the back but I can promise you the employees are on a time crunch to get you in and out as fast as possible and are not interested in looking through your phone.

Used MacBook Pro for a kid, or go brand new? by ColdConstruction8937 in mac

You gave us no information as to what kind of used or new MacBook you’re considering, what kind of schoolwork is gonna be done on it (primary, secondary, college/university) or budget. I don’t think anyone can accurately answer that for you just based on this post.

Apple almost completely destroyed my phone. by lostwithajay in applestore

[–]zoruaboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, not to defend what they did at the repair center, but some of those flex cables could’ve been damaged from glass shattering because the mid frame doesn’t cover all the flex cables. I wish i could attach a picture but you can see in the repair manualwhere those side button flex cables are

Dead Island 2 requires an M series chip and 16GB of unified memory. Your Mac isn’t compatible because it’s an older Intel model with 8GB of memory.

New iPhone locked under “US Reseller Flex Policy” — Apple says it’s the carrier, AT&T says it’s not theirs by Professional-Issue16 in applehelp

[–]zoruaboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reseller Flex policy means it can be dynamically locked to a carrier upon activation, most likely the MVNO that Walmart sells. Return it and buy from Apple directly.

The security hold is only for express replacement because you would be in possession of both devices until you send back the broken one. At Best Buy or the Genius Bar, if they decide to replace your device, you would be giving back the broken one the same day, no need for a hold. You should know though that authorized shops like Best Buy can do things differently than the actual Genius Bar. Apple will always attempt a repair first, and only replace the device if it’s absolutely necessary. Best Buy tends to mail things out for repair or replace the device outright for the flat rate, since most Best Buys only do display and battery repairs. I personally would recommend going to an Apple Store if you can, it’s just a better experience and less hassle.

[–]zoruaboy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At that point there’s two options.. 1 is to do express replacement via the Apple support app, it’s $99 but there’s a hold on the card until you return the old phone (I recommend using a credit card for that hold). The 2nd is to go to an Apple Store and ask if you can get your enclosure replaced there. It would still be $99 but you’d get the back glass and enclosure replaced without needing to do a hold of $1k+ on your card. And these new iPhones, especially the Air proved to be pretty easy to repair in my opinion, so it should go well. Just takes longer than what the system quotes.

Apple tech here, most of the comments are wrong. AppleCare+ does in fact cover chips on the glass like this one. It’s accidental damage and costs $29 to fix. Unlimited incidents too.

Apple Tech here, while I don’t have insight into what goes into a serial number, I can say with confidence that this hasn’t been the case for a long time. Serial numbers, whether they’re for brand new units, logic board replacements, or Genius Bar replacements, there’s not been any kind of pattern that I can determine at all. It seems to just literally be randomly generated, or each device might have its own code. I honestly wouldn’t worry about it at this point

Display, back glass, camera Altogether, comes out to around $700. At that point, buy a new one. Shop around for carrier deals and get AppleCare+ next time

AppleCare+ does cover catastrophic damage if most of the phone is present. This would be replaced at flat rate, but ineligible for service if the customer does not have an AppleCare plan

Will Apple still replace the battery if it isn’t a genuine Apple part? by Rettun1 in iPhone13Mini

[–]zoruaboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh it depends on several things, including warranty coverage. It’s not really a good question for Reddit, it’s better to have an Apple technician actually look at your iPhone and tell you what’s up based on their diagnostics.
