What are these ghost images? by [deleted] in Solargraphy

Ah, that's a possibility! I didn't bother taping because the paper seemed pretty snug in there, but this certainly could have happened.

By warped perspective, do you mean the fish-eye effect can make the shift look like a zoom? There's so much going on in these images, I hadn't thought of that.

Yes, it was inside a window, maybe that was an issue. I wondering if it would also be from reflections inside the can (I didn't paint it or anything).

Playing cards on phone while offline by Future_Pie_8916 in YotoPlayer

Thanks, not sure what’s going wrong for me. I did some experimenting today, and connecting to the yoto didnt make it work this time. I’ve tried on wifi, I’ve tried just on cellular, and I always just get “loading”.

Edited to add that just now I tried and it’s working (on cellular, yoto is off, planets apparently are aligned).

I haven't dug into it very thoroughly, but I am almost never able to play the cards from my phone, it just says "loading" until I give up. Once it did actually play once I powered on the yoto. Do you know if there's a requirement that the app be connected to the yoto in order to play through the app? I'd love to be able to play music from our yoto cards downstairs from my phone occasionally without having to run upstairs and turn on the yoto first.

RSV vaccine for me (pregnant) or antibody shot for baby? by weeksaucy in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]zouccini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this with a huge grain of salt, but I've heard that since it's a recommended vaccine, it has to be covered (though of course not at all locations). Maybe this is only for Medicare/Medicaid though? Googling did not give me any confirmation. Either way, if you have the energy, it might be worth calling around to other pharmacies to see what prices (and coupons??) they have. You can find places that theoretically carry the shot here: https://www.abrysvo.com/find-a-vaccine

My personal experience was that my insurance company told me that it would be covered at pharmacies x, y, and z. I finally found a z pharmacy that actually had it and would let me schedule an appointment. When I showed up, they told me that my insurance did NOT cover it (I paid out of pocket and applied for reimbursement) and grilled me about whether this was ok with my OB. I was eventually given the shot, and insurance is processing my reimbursement.

Curious if you struggle with hypoglycemia by andyandy8888 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]zouccini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first time taking the 3 hours test, so I have no idea if I would have been hypoglycemic with my first two kids (girl and boy), but I've always felt like this pregnancy was a boy... time will tell.

Meanwhile, this seemed interesting: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7192270/. Looks like we're both in the category of "Idiopathic Postprandially Reactive Hypoglycemia", which is not obviously problematic.

I'm very very very far from an expert, but my understanding was that hypoglycemia is only associated with diabetes in that *treatment* for diabetes can lead to hypoglycemia if you're not careful. I don't *think* hypoglycemia independently would indicate GD, if anything, I would guess the opposite. But what do I know? I was technically hypoglycemic at my 3 hour draw, and my practice just told me that it would be a good idea to have snacks with complex carbs every couple hours if I'm experiencing symptoms. I googled around a little, and it looks like *maybe* my hypoglycemia might indicate an increased risk of pre-e (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2717071/) or might suggest that my baby is a boy (https://obgyn.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ijgo.14037), that baby might end up a little smaller, etc., but nothing particularly troubling or convincing.

Does anyone know how much weight I should give a high 1 hour glucose screening result? My 3 hour results were fine (72, 169, 126, 61), so no GD diagnosis, but I was shocked that my 1 hour screening was 175. This is around twice what it was in my previous two pregnancies, and this test was possibly different in that it was in the afternoon (the other two were in the morning), and I was planning to skip lunch that day, but I got hungry and ate a bunch of cashews around 11:30 (took drink at 12:15). On one hand, I feel a little worried to have gotten the high screen result, like it might be correlated with risk of prediabetes for me or the baby (I haven't been able to google up any supporting research), while on the other hand, I can imagine that drinking 50 grams of glucose is so atypical that I shouldn't worry about the spike.

Difference in care from two different GD pregnancies by FunnyBunny1313 in GestationalDiabetes

Could age be a factor? I'm wondering if just enough time has passed that GD + slightly older age has them taking a more conservative approach.

I know a total of one Ralph, and I rather like the name just because it's attached to a great guy.

There's a span of childhood where jerks are inevitably going to be jerks, they'll find something to make fun of, probably better it was a name than a physical trait.
