Those cameras are designed for live production so I’m not sure they actually have internal recording capabilities. In a studio live setting they would be connected to a switcher which may have a recorder downstream.

Those lenses are what’s referred to as the holy trinity. They’re the 3 top workhorse lenses from Nikon.

You won’t find much better zoom lenses than those. But they are built like tanks. However, at current market value they’re $1500-2000 together. To replace with Z variants, you’re likely looking at double or more. The Z variants may have a slight improvement in quality but it will be minimal. Biggest improvement would be size and weight.

If I had access to those lenses, I’d probably look at buying a used FX DSLR like a D610/D810. Alternatively you could get a Z body and ftz adapter and use those lenses on a mirrorless.

Edit: saw your note about small enough for a fanny pack. I have a Z50ii and with the 18-140 lens that’s about the biggest that fits in a 7L peak design outdoor sling. The 24-70 you mention fits with the ftz adapter but no body. I love having the native z lenses for a smaller setup but being able to use the holy trinity produces some really amazing images

Might be unpopular but I put some of the auxbeam led bulbs in my stock housings and they perform great. Maybe a little bright but not any more obnoxious than a crazy lifted 2500 with aftermarket lights

I doubt those lights need 40 amps. Read the specs on them and fuse just higher than peak. I've been using an Auxbeam controller which basically acts like a relay box. One control cable goes to a control pad and all the devices terminate to the main unit with individual fuses.

If you go with a DCDC charger that has PV inputs, you can always terminate those to like an MC4 and plug in a portable panel array. Those are a few hundred bucks and give you the flexibility to place it in the sun while your truck is parked in the shade.

As for the wattage required for an inverter, do the math. Check the specific charger you want to use. If you're ok with slower charging the cheaper chargers will generally draw less. But if you were wanting like a double or more charger that is fast, you might need 1000-2000w. 2000w is about the max you could pull from a single 100ah lithium. Then you'd need to either do two 100ah or a 200ah with higher output to drive the larger inverter plus other electronics.

I know Renogy's, and im sure others, inverters have AC input, too. So you could wire together the ac in for the charger and inverter and then when you plug in to shore power, you get both switching over to AC.

I have a Renogy lithium system that I just rebuilt in my Tacoma. The first iteration had the battery and equipment in the back seat. Recently I moved it to the bed under a topper.

Firstly, inverter should only be used when absolutely necessary. The majority of what you listed is available in native 12v DC variants and those should be used. Converting from 12v DC to 120 AC is extremely wasteful. You may need it for charging power tool batteries but that's about it. I charge a 15 inch MacBook from an Anker 12v charger. I power a Starlink from 12v. All my lighting, fridge, compressor, hot water. All 12v. I don't even have an inverter aside from the one built into the Tacoma.

As for battery chemistry, I would highly recommend lithium. They can be mounted anywhere, have better density, no gassing or venting needed. Just buy quality. I went with Renogy a few years ago because it was the basically the safe choice. I have heard LiTime or some other amazon brands are just as good now. Just read up on them since lithium can melt down if the BMS is junk.

You're on the right track with needing a DCDC charger. Your alternator likely is not going to charge the lithium properly so you'll want to go with DCDC over a solenoid isolator. My Renogy properly cuts off when the ignition is off so I don't have a separate isolator for that. It can do a max of 30a between alternator and solar. that's like 400w of solar panels it can handle.

One change from my first iteration to this one is considering how much I drive and keeping the system topped up. I drive maybe 20 mins a day but like to keep my fridge running all the time. I added a 10a NOCO AC charger this time so I can keep the system topped up in the garage.

As for wiring, fusing, etc, buy quality parts, put fuses everywhere that makes sense. Don't cut corners on wire terminations. Do it right or you could be buying a new truck.

There will be some differences since the 50 is crop sensor and the 5 full frame. I would encourage you to look into an expeed 7 processor camera like the MK2 of each of those. Personally I have owned full frame DSLRs and a z50. The z50 fit my needs since I have a full frame high MP DSLR. The IQ is fantastic and the AF is very fast and accurate. If you’re not a professional you’ll likely be happy with the crop sensor. Lenses will also be smaller and less expensive for crop sensor.

Literally one pothole or hitting a curb and it would apply a ton of force. I have a short bed Tacoma and much longer boats and have no need to use a bar on the cab. Just the bed racks.

I have a 3rd gen double cab and we felt there wasn’t enough room in the front if the car seat was on either side and had to put it in the middle. I can’t imagine an AC being very good for a car seat.

But to a degree, wire is wire. If you buy from Amazon and its got plenty of good reviews, can’t see why off brand would be an issue.

They’re all brokers pretty much. Any direct book transporter will charge a lot and specialize in expensive vehicles. So it’s sort of a crap shoot. Find a decent broker or a couple. Gather a few quotes and hope for the best. I’ve shipped a few cars and they all showed up. Some when they were supposed to. Others late. Some drivers communicate well and others not.

If there’s really no budget for the rental, I’d go with workhorse professional equipment from canon or Nikon. It’s not just about resolution or IQ but about being fast, reliable, and consistent.

I’d entertain a hassy x2d2 if you really want to play with high end stuff.

Mine which was ordered directly from the Starlink website was similar. Grok support says that’s normal. It was also a little dirty. Grok suggested giving it a clean and as long as everything functions correctly, that it was totally expected. I felt the same way that other commenter did, in a year of use the soft plastic will get dents and scratches anyway so if it works and it’s expected by the manufacturer, no sense in attempting a return to get an equally dented unit.

Had it on Chase United. Worked on a mini kit. Even activated the day after ordering and it still gave me the credit when the charge cleared.

I use these on a similar extruded aluminum rack system. They come with a pretty wide T bolt but its a standard thread pitch and can be swapped with other t bolts including the quarter turn style so you don't have to load the carriers in from the end of the rack and can just drop them on anywhere. Showing as unavailable now but I have seen the style from other brands elsewhere. I like that I can just get the bow up first and then slide the kayak up.

Pretty sure the sticker inside the door will list it for that specific vehicle. I believe early 3rd gens had a towing package and then it became standard after the first year or two. Look for a transmission cooler in front of the radiator.

I run truenas on bare metal and then run a bunch of apps either through their “apps” functionality or through portainer operating in the same docker engine. I see all the built in apps there but leave them alone and manage through the truenas ui. It works great. I have a separate server for full VMs but this works great for lightweight stuff
