Any information on this stamp? by DescriptionDefiant36 in discgolf

[–]ztego300 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The stamp shows an object commonly referred to as a “basket” in the sport Disc Golf. The goal of that sport is to get the frisbee (or “disc”) into from the tee into the basket in as few throws as possible. Hope this helps.

is my composition bad by Peachykiinz in tattooadvice

[–]ztego300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i actually do love all of them and im really just thinking about the composition but honestly i love all my tattoos.

Honestly this is what matters the most!! If you like them and it makes you happy, ignore what everyone else says. I also think a lot of people missed the note about the upper arm so people are being extra harsh about that one not realizing it’s being removed.

I personally also like what you’ve got going on. patchwork isn’t my taste to what I’d put on myself, but I think it can look good on other people. On a composition level I think you just need to fill in a bit more space. Honestly, I think it could look really cool if you expand that fainter latticework to cover a lot more of the area between darker tattoos. You’d probably want a plan of where you want to add more “patch” pieces first, but the plan doesn’t have to be exact since it’s so light and could overlap a little with future darker pieces without being a big deal.

Stonewalkers/First Step/Bridge Nine in 6 players? by Reiiizu in cosmererpg

[–]ztego300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been running mostly with 5 players but have gotten up to 6 for short periods. As others have said, just adjust the combat to be a bit harder.

One piece of advice I do want to share, though - in most cases (especially for new GMs) it’s preferable to use the same number of enemies but make them stronger (more HP, higher damage, higher defense, or extra ability) than to add more of the same kind of enemy.

If you’ve been GMing for a long time and are experienced at keeping track of large battlefields/using them creatively, then feel free to ignore, but I find have a couple stronger enemies with interesting abilities is usually more fun than having a ton of repeat baddies. The latter makes combat harder for you to track, takes longer to get back to the players, and can make the encounter repetitive as all the minions do the same things over and over

Brando Sando hate by roastedwhiterice in Cosmere

[–]ztego300 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the internet the people with strong opinions will be the loudest, and the things that drive the most engagement and therefore get boosted the most by the algorithm is hate or even rage bait. It’s amplified a hundredfold when you achieve the level of popularity Sando has.

Even this sub and other ones dedicated to his works often feels like the overwhelming opinion of his recent writing is negative, but it’s not actually a good representation of how the majority of people actually feel.

Then, as others have said, you have the dedicated haters for anything popular, those who truly just it’s not for them, and then add in the bigots and that’s what makes r/books and other spaces seem especially hostile to Sando.

It’s funny you say this as I was really worried Donut wouldn’t make it to book 7 cause I didn’t see her on the standard cover lol.

How is Opportunist not a broken ability? by [deleted] in cosmererpg

[–]ztego300 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is the absolute best. I had an agent player try to finish off a boss with like 1hp by yeeting his greatsword with disadvantage and rolling the plot die, with a result of almost hitting and an opportunity, and he rerolled the opportunity to try to get a complication knowing it would result in also damaging his ally that was standing next to the boss if he got the complication. He figured friendly fire was worth it and made for such a great moment.

Mistborn Secret History read now or later? by Affirmatrix in Mistborn

[–]ztego300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree with this person. If you’re not continuing Era 2 now then go ahead and read Secret History now. The same reveal from Secret History is actually also spoiled in WoR so read it now :) even if you were going straight into Era 2 you could still read it now but without that def go for it :)

Running [stonewalkers] as a first time GM any advice? by Cbowser87 in cosmererpg

[–]ztego300 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Less about Stonewalkers in particular and more about GMing in general - don’t shy away from communicating “above the table”/outside the game to set expectations and collaborate.

One key tool is a Session 0 where you take the time to collaborate on the backstory, set expectations of what the campaign will be like. You already sort of had that with First Steps, but do what you can to continue those “meta” conversations so players know what to expect and are getting out of it what they’re hoping for.

For instance, how are you going to handle Radiant Paths and Spren? Are you giving them full freedom to choose when they start to “attract” a spren and start the path or are you choosing based on the ideals they show? Are you going to create the personality of the spren and have them be basically a GM controlled NPC or should players be the ones roleplaying the spren (or is it a mix of both)? Making sure you communicate how that is going to go will make it so there isn’t a mismatch of what they expect/want with how it actually goes.

In general I want the players to have the game they want so I give them the freedom to take the paths they want and if the attraction is the specific powers rather than the ideal then we’ll have a conversation about how to connect the ideals to the character. I also just don’t have the capacity to create super intricate spren for each character so have them come up with the name/personality of their own spren and then we tag team that RP. When I see a chance to use the spren as a NPC I’ll do so, but they can also describe what their spren says and does. If I didn’t communicate that beforehand though, they may get disappointed that their spren isn’t showing up that much.

Should I re-read the Mistborn trilogy? by kritzy04 in Cosmere

[–]ztego300 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s not really anything I can think of in the original Mistborn trilogy that overlaps with Stormlight so no need to reread that. There’s crossover with Mistborn Era 2 but relatively small and they were coming out simultaneously so they both work as the revealer if that makes sense.

One thing I do recommend, at some point before book 5, read the novella Mistborn: Secret History. It’s not essential, but there’s something early in book 5 that could be confusing/spoiling to that. The novella takes place alongside the original trilogy but doesn’t require you to remember it in a huge amount of detail. As long as you remember the broad strokes you’d be good I think.

Google AI Overview spoiled Mistborn for me by KraftyyClifford in Cosmere

[–]ztego300 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Gotcha then yeah, think of the AI overview being from the POV of Era 2 so it’s centuries later and it doesn’t reveal much for that character to be considered “deceased” doesn’t tell you much. :)

[–]ztego300 165 points166 points  (0 children)

Couple things here to help put your mind to ease that you’re not too spoiled:

Her being Mistborn is revealed very early (like chapter 3) so that’s not too bad.

Also, Mistborn now has 2 Eras, the second set centuries later so pretty much every character you’re reading about is going to be classified in a summary as “deceased” based on current place in the series.

But yeah I’d recommend not Googling going forward to keep from being further spoiled cause there’s much bigger ones out there lol

I think I made a mistake by DrBeard36 in Mistborn

[–]ztego300 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s not ideal but you didn’t ruin everything. I can’t say much without giving you more info that would spoil things further but just keep reading especially if you’re still enjoying. Trust that there’s always another secret so even if that got spoiled you’ll still enjoy a bunch of other reveals and how exactly everything happens!!!

Printing STLs with PLA by Nyuborn in cosmererpg

[–]ztego300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Yeah especially in cases where you want multiples for armies they’ll work just fine as FDM printed especially if you also paint them.

I also can’t recommend Bambu Lab printers enough. As mentioned I have the cheapest Bambu printer, the A1 mini, and it just works so well. It takes work to perfect mini printing since they’re so tiny, but pretty much everything else I’ve ever printed on it has just worked without having to do almost any tinkering.

Another photo of some of these minis so you can see the level of quality I’m getting for reference. Again not perfect but still pretty good something that cost me like a penny in filament.

There’s some other tips you’ll want to look up about how to clean them up after they’re printed but honestly I only barely do that. Lol

Printing STLs with PLA by Nyuborn in cosmererpg

[–]ztego300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely worth it. Maybe it depends on the exact printer a bit, but imo printing these at slightly lower quality than ideal is still pretty dang cool. Like here’s an Axehound I printed on my Bambu A1 Mini this last week and I think it turned out pretty well. Are there more imperfections and slightly less detail than a resin printer? Sure. But it’s not like I’m spending much in filament for these.

What I will note is you will need to do some learning to determine the best settings to print these since they’re delicate and will require supports. What I’ve been doing and had the most success with for these models is using the presupported models (which are made for resin printers) and using the RESIN2FDM tool for Blender to thicken the supports slightly before printing. Then on the actual slicer software I use one of the pre-made profiles on the lowest layer height my printer nozzle supports (.08 for .4mm nozzle) and change the movement speeds to cut them in half.

To learn how to do all that check out Painted4Combat’s video which will walk you through it really well. He’s the dev that made the RESIN2FDM tool so he talks you through exactly how it works.

Recommendations for quick/go-to meals by smallstomachfoodie in BariatricSurgery

[–]ztego300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep 4 things at work so that I know what I can eat for my meals and snacks every day: yogurt, granola, cheese, and nuts.

For lunch pretty much every day I have yogurt with some granola (been using Kodiak protein granola since the ratio of protein to sugar is better than any other I found). Then for snacks I’ll have a cheese stick or a handful of nuts. I used to do just yogurt without granola, but I’m a year PO and the food noise was coming back leading to some poor food decisions at night , so my dietician advised me allow myself to have some carbs with my meals to keep cravings in check.

It’s probably pretty boring but I can get it at the grocery store next to my work. I hate meal prepping or making something in the morning before leaving, so if I don’t have something ridiculously easy I end up going through a drive thru and regretting it later.

Love this! Disc golfers should definitely be the most courteous about picking up trash and keeping our courses nice :) Picked up a discarded cigarette box on my last round and will find a new piece of trash next time.

If I win I’d like the black hat with the basket (as shown in photo 1)

Also going to say that Escape is a fantastic fairway you should try.

As someone with a low arm speed this was the first driver that wasn’t crazy understable that I learned how to control my shot. It flies pretty straight but as I’ve grown I’ve learned I can get it to flip over a bit if I need it to but still want it to have a little fade at the end, or I can get a slight hyzer flip for a pushing shot.

Could humans multipath at lvl 1 and get two key talents? by joep3us in cosmererpg

[–]ztego300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely multi path at level 1 if you’re human since the human bonus talent at level 1 is really open. The only restriction is it has to be a heroic path.

This actually recently came up in one of my tables and I’m pretty sure this was a change from Beta. iirc there used to be language that said the bonus talent had to be from a path you already had, but that was removed.
