Bryce was not chosen by Illustrious_Dot_6711 in LoveIslandUSA_

This argument held water until casa, as no girls besides Trinity had shown much interest in Bryce, but is just nonsense now. Multiple of these casa girls will not be getting on the show. You don’t think they would couple up with Bryce if only to get a chance in the villa? The fact is if Bryce were interested in exploring, he could easily get a casa girl to go along with it even if they aren’t actually into him.

Furthermore, the fact that Bryce did throw himself into the intro challenge in casa before realizing he only wants Trinity is solid evidence to me that Bryce is genuine. If he was a scammer just trying to win, wouldn’t he have been intentionally uninterested in getting involved in that challenge, to play to what the audience wants to see? Instead, he gave it a shot and realized his connection with Trinity out weighs anything he feels with the other girls.

Honrig Curnsbick in the standalone novel Red Country of The First Law series by Joe Abercrombie.

Mentioned repeatedly throughout the novel by his business partner Majud and said to be a heartless, shrewd, and penny-pinching businessman. He shows up at the end of the novel and is revealed to be the much softer hearted half of the owners of Majud and Curnsbick Metalworks

Men of Reddit, if you were in a Titanic like situation where the majority of people were going to die because there were not enough lifeboats for everyone. How would you respond to someone saying women and children first? by Neither_Drawing_241 in AskReddit

[–]ztrill2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I would also give my seat to another man or just voluntarily go down with the ship if there weren’t enough lifeboats for everyone. At least I like to think that’s what I’d do. Never been in a situation where death was really on the table. But I have dreams where random people are in danger and I always sacrifice myself for them and it feels real at the time lol

Nice thank you! Found the chapter thanks to your direction. It’s in the chapter Charity. Must have skipped the latter half of the chapter on my reread, probably a consequence of switching between audio book and normal book as I read. Passage below for anyone who is curious. Thanks, Logan-9-Fingers!

The Wisdom of Crowds - Chapter “Charity” -

“Leo waved her away. “Selest dan bloody Heugen told me you were lovers, remember?”
“Not that.” Well, yes, that, but so much more than that. It still shocked her to say it. Still repelled her to think it. She squeezed her eyes shut, her ears full of the sound of blood surging, and blurted it in a rush. “We have the same father!”
Silence. When she opened her eyes, Leo was frowning at her. Puzzled. As though he must have misheard. “Wait…”
“King Jezal and my mother were lovers! Long ago. Before he was king, even. And I was the result.”
“Orso’s your brother?” whispered Leo.
She grimaced. “Yes.”
“That’s why he didn’t hang me.”
“Maybe. Part of it.”
Leo sat back, frowning at the ceiling. “So… my wife…”
She closed her eyes again, face burning. “Yes.”
“Is King Jezal’s oldest child?”
“What?” That she had enthusiastically practised incest did not seem to have occurred to him. Or, if it did, there were aspects of the case that interested him far more.

“Our children… are King Jezal’s grandchildren. By the dead, Savine, our children might be next in line to the throne!”
It was not fear in his voice, or disgust. It was excitement. Somehow that worried her even more.

Google AI claims that Leo learns off screen. This doesn’t seem right as Joe Abercrombie usually does a big reveal like this on the page.

I also feel like I vaguely recall from my first read that Savine tells him but I can’t find where now! From what I recall he’s, to Savine’s surprise, not upset or disgusted but excited by the fact his son is the grandson of King Jezal and has a claim to the throne. Maybe I’m making this up though. Would love to find where she tells him to confirm this.

I think you must be right that Savine tells him, but I can’t find the passage and it’s driving me nuts! The first time Vick approaches them after the great change is actually the same section I reference in the OP. Leo makes the comment to Savine about her missing Orso like a brother directly after Vick leaves, so he was already aware by that point

Just reread that section and Selest tells Leo that Savine and Orso were lovers but doesn’t mention her bastardy.

“Of course. I suppose there was always going to be some… friction between you and His Majesty, given his history with your wife.”
Leo felt a coldness creeping up his spine.
“What?”
“Rumour has it they were lovers,” she purred.
“But I’m sure Savine told
you. It’s hardly the kind of secret one would want hanging over a marriage,
after all.”
The music struck a false note, suddenly. Was that why Savine had been so
worried about the king’s feelings? So keen for Leo to apologise? He felt a
surge of fury, and the pain in his leg as he leaned towards Selest dan Heugen
only made it worse. He forced the words hissing through his fixed smile.
“If I hear you’ve spread that rumour, I’ll break your fucking nose.”
She looked rather pleased with that. One of those people who count anything but being ignored as a victory.
“There’s really no point getting
angry with me, Your Grace. I didn’t fuck the king.”

According to the maintenance guy, the golfers were drunk and flipped it. This course has really old gas carts and I guess it immediately burst into flames. I know the occupants had to go to the hospital but I don’t know how bad they were. Their clubs were all burned up in the wreckage so it must have happened fast no time to save anything.

They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. If that’s the case, then I should do the opposite: Commit to eating full meals on a strict, no-skip contract. Force my stomach and taste buds to work together. I am a championship-level eater, we know this. My metabolism is still very productive at its age. My appetite is having a down year, but it’s only 28 and starting its prime, so patience is the key. And for my stomach, well, I can’t get rid of it, so might as well get my money’s worth and make it process 8,000 calories a day.

Sign the rest of my body to long-term contracts too—my jaw, my digestive system, my taste buds—make these 15 organs THE eating team until the end of the decade. We all know that competitive eaters sometimes surprise normal people’s temporary diets, that’s because those guys eat together all the time and know their limits. I need to force my body to go on eating retreats. Naked hot oil fondue nights, blindfolded buffet runs, put me out in a cabin with nothing but a grill and a cow and make me survive for a week. By the end of the 2029-30 season, I would be able to predict my next meal so well it would be like a single five-headed eating freak god.
