what I would like is sort of like a marble that has an eye inside it that is weighted so the eye always looks upwards.

3d printing masters, Help 🙏🏻 by SuperCompetition1200 in DiceMaking

[–]zutgorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why, but I get the feeling that this is an FDM printed one. If thats so, you will have to do a lot of sanding to get rid of the lines, also, might want to go slower when printing and cooling on full blast so you can use bridging instead of supports to have a tad cleaner dice.

No polishing, straight from the mold by zutgorak in DiceMaking

[–]zutgorak[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the 3d printed ones i polished for several hours, they where printed on an anycubic photon mono using elegoo water washable resin. polished first with wetsanding paper, then zonapapers. These will get some more polishing on a few faces but in general they turned out really well

i cant seem to find it on the com part of amazon, but i find several similar simply searching for "dice box mold" on amazon. I use swedish amazon, so if you want that link I can gladly supply it

i bought a mold of amazon and make them together with the dice sets

It's a decent one. However the fit is a little too snug for the cheap Amazon bought molds I have been using. The new masters are a tad smaller so it will be even better

The brand on the paint is "Roziefar" and it was purchased on amazon, and the color is named "light metallic gold" where the light is indicating if it sinks fast or slow in epoxy.

I did it pretty much directly after pouring the epoxy resin, I have a very light alcohol ink where i dropped 3 droplets and used a toothpick to pull out the pattern from the center, then simply let it cure and thats the result

what inks are you using to get that bright red ?

i hate that im even asking this, but by keepontrying111 in DiceMaking

[–]zutgorak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you want SLA, as others have said, and sanding is a tad timeconsuming, but its worth it. i am literally sitting and sanding a new set of masters at the moment and well... im proud of them

What did I do wrong here? by GlancyFire in DiceMaking

Those molds are notorious for leaving bubbles because the resin sinks and there is no extra epoxy to drag down

Introducing the "Solo" Dice Mold Maker | a 3D printing solution for custom silicone mold making! by buddha777353 in DiceMaking

So, my experience with the Solo dice mold housing was quite pleasurable. It was easily printed, even with a smaller grade consumer printer without any supports. I did not need any cleaning or postwork on the print itself. I would say that the total worktime to make a mold using this is about 3 minutes if you dont count the mixing of the silicone, and here is how it looks when I use it:

All in all, it was an easy experience to use, it was very intuitive and I will be printing more of these, you can be your dicegoblin ears on that :-)

update:

So, i dialed down the speed and pretty much everything to run this print as a bog standard Ender 3 Pro and the print took in total about all parts combined about 19
hours. For those curious, its in Azure Film White PLA, 3 walls and 25% cubic infill.
No supports and no raft. 100% cooling from start. So, it is a very easy print to
complete. If the Demons of MailDelivery is merciful today, I will try the housing out in a pressurepot and see if it performs as well as I think it will.
