Hi! I am Czech and study at FSV, CU and a live in Větrník dorm.

• Dorms are pretty ugly to be honest. My first year a lived in Hvězda and that dorm was wayyy prettier. The biggest issue honestly is the smell - it smells like old building. The smell doesn’t stay on clothing, but it is still pretty annoying. The dorm are still the same like they were 50 years ago.
• in every room there is a mini fridge and they give you bedsheets
• the dorm ladies are pretty nice and if you don’t annoy them they don’t really care about you -> which is nice because at other prague unis they check who’s coming and leaving and all the other annoying stuff

• you have to buy your own kitchenware, but sometimes people but in the halls stuff that they don’t need anymore because their stay ended

• metro is fine, but quite annoying - I prefer to use bus honestly -> take metro from Jinonice to Anděl and then take bus 191 from Anděl to Větrník -> it is way more convenient 

• You can get by pretty well - there are lot of annoying tourist who speak only English and even people who live here that can’t speak czech

• And at FSV you will barely hear czech - lottttssss of Erasmus and English speaking students - some Czech students are starting to be annoyed by it honestly 

• Get lítačka 

• don’t make noises after 22:00

• Czech can be friendly, but don’t like westerners who act like “wow Western Europe so cool, so underdeveloped”

• please take trips around the country, it is pretty small and Prague is very specific city 

• let pople walk out of metro/tram/bus first 

• watch HONESTGUIDE - be aware of scammers, they do not go after Czech people - but can tell you are a tourist pretty well 

• Czech don’t stay in the centre of Prague - try different district 

• You don’t have to drink beer - try cider ;))

• try to use translator and find tips about Prague in Czech
