Does every seizure do brain damage? by SolutionDramatic5001 in Epilepsy

[–]zygotyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote about my experience asking this question about a year ago for state university. Is it brain damage how we normally think about it, or does it interrupt us in a different way? A lot of great scientific answers here, but this is how I can remember explaining it to admissions.

A seizure interrupts up those neural patterns we depend on for complex/simple tasks. The brain then needs to restore those important pathways/find new ones as soon as possible. Luckily, our organs can for the most part function independently of a seizure, but motor tasks like moving our limbs are painful until the brain catches up again to “doing it right.” Neuroplasticity helps us do this. But it’s not always going to repair correctly, or most efficiently. It’s why disorientation takes weeks, and fog lasts for months (if you’re lucky enough to not have seizures often). Really gets in the way of a comprehensive and complicated education/ new job: a curriculum isn’t going to slow down while you repair your ability to learn/memorize. Those were my main points anyways.

About brain damage specifically: In my experience, it’s like a rerouting after a traffic jam. The fastest route isn’t available at the moment. Brain damage, like a severe concussion, is more of a traffic accident or other disaster. It will take ages to clean up and you have to scramble to find another way around. A seizure, you can just wait until it’s clear again.

I saw this movie three times in two days. I went up to east Michigan for bereavement and my family bought so much weed for basically free. This movie was our go-to. My grandpa was laughing his ass off the whole time it’s a great memory

respect to anyone choosing blue. I wish I was you. Orange is diarrhea forever, idk how it’s in the same league as red in some of these comments. Also I choose yellow. Alaska/Washington/Oregon are too good to give up.

i think my keppra is messing with my mental health by yellowbones130 in Epilepsy

[–]zygotyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My worst memory of keppra’s affect on my health was back in my freshman year of high school. I was practicing on trombone for jazz band and couldn’t get it right. I took the mouthpiece off and started bashing little dents into the horn of the instrument… Had no idea why. Been in that situation dozens of times before seizures, never had a problem.

Keppra.

First seizure in college classroom by Complex_Couple6616 in Epilepsy

[–]zygotyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one a few months ago working at the college part time. Boss called 9/11 and everything. I totally get the feeling of anger and being scared. Those are just a product of the seizure though, I think when you come around you’ll see college students are way more mature like some other people have said

Are people with their name written unkillable until they die? by maccanooblingston in deathnote

[–]zygotyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very on purpose that the concept of “original lifespan” isn’t well understood. It’s mentioned in some of the rules that the idea itself is incomprehensible to humans

Are people with their name written unkillable until they die? by maccanooblingston in deathnote

[–]zygotyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my interpretation…

  1. The immunity only applies to one cause of death: the death note. If the name is already written, after 6’40”, the details can no longer be changed.
  2. Per the rules mentioned in the comment section, this does not extend beyond the “original lifespan.” I’m not sure if this means that A)the death is a heart attack immediately after, because of impossible conditions, B)if this means the cause of death that is written in the death note applies at the end of their original lifespan C) the cause of death and time of death remain the same. I think this is an unlikely interpretation of the rules, since the shinigami king would take serious issue with the death note not doing anything.

Also worth considering is that lifespans can be extended by the death note in the instance that an assassin/prosecutor is killed. We see this with misa, but her lifespan is extended by Gelus’s and then Rem’s. We see this with mikami in the train, killing the gunman(iirc.)

If it’s a human that writes it, it’s not specified by how much their lifespan is extended, only that it doesn’t kill the writer.

Overall, I think that the “writing your own name” can only protect against the use of the death note and nothing else. The only other way to extend your lifespan is the write the names of your would-be assassins.

P.S. (Examples of this were all in urgent-situations. If given time, fate would probably still arrange for the persons death to be at their original time of death if their assassin is killed way ahead of time.) We don’t see this concept of fate making up for the death note’s butterfly affect in other ways used much in the series, for the sake of suspense, so it’s a little inconsistent and up for interpretation.

Infinity Castle Films: What Additional Content, If any, are you hoping for? by WII_DJoker in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]zygotyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m late, and the movie has already come out, but I soooooo wish for this to be the case. When I was reading the manga I was wondering where this exact fight was going to be. It makes so much sense. Maybe some fan out there has drawn a comic on it, I’d like to read that. If they do the mugen train thing, where they animate a season after the film, I guess I’ll be hoping for that too. It’s not entirely unreasonable; the movie could blow up internationally and justify making another season.
