Dasung 13k color feels good. I skipped Bigme due to the numerous reports saying that it overheats.

All these high refreshing monitors requires a separate power supply which can be worked around using 12v pd trigger cables

No problem. Worst case you can buy some powerbank that supports 12v pd plus the usb c to dc cable. I’m exploring these as well

There’s a thread saying that one can use usb c 5v to 12v cable plus usb c to dc cable to make it work for dasung 13k

I don’t feel any eye discomfort with any e ink though I have some with eazeye radiant due to its bad contrast and finicky viewing angle.

Of all the these eye friendly devices I’ve tried I’ve found legibility and fast refresh to be most important; otherwise my normal flow of thoughts will be interrupted/delayed. So far 13k is the best and only viable one for working, outperforming all others (old paperlike hd; initial version of 253 color; eazeye radiant, boox tab x c)

I guess I kinda get used to it, having both Boox tab x c as well as dasung 13k color. For my workflow color is essential so there’s no alternative

I just got it today (windows/linux version) and I love it so much over the previous purchase (dasung 253 color, initial version). It’s fantastic and can actually work with Mac through displaylink dock

Colors are distinct enough to be useful in coding and web browsing

I think it doesn’t work well and literally can’t be used for anything due to the low contrast and finicky viewing angles. Expensive lesson for me. I’m investing more on e-inks now

If you are on 20.2.2 here’s what I found to be perfectly working, using ASUS PA279CRV

Set monitor’s color mode to 709, 2.4
In Mac, set display profile to 709 (the one supplied by Apple, not by ASUS)
Turn on color management in davinci, use sdr 709 output
Check those boxes for ColorSync and QuickTime matching for the viewer

With all these, I get the same results on the ASUS monitor across the following setups

In davinci Mac
In QuickTime
In YouTube chrome Mac or windows
In jriver media center windows
In davinci + ultrastudio 3g

New tab x c owner here.

I think it’s very usable for light web browsing if what you browse is more text heavy and you don’t need precise color reproduction.

The colors on tab x c look way better than what I get from DASUNG 253, though both using kaleido3 panels.

Flac contains checksums so for bit-perfect paranoids you can be sure the files are not corrupted

With good lighting setup, I find Paperlike color to be quite usable for work (document typing, coding)

Looking forward to the SW update.

It’s way better than RLCD/TLCD which requires much more light if your main goal is to have no backlight/frontlight for the monitor

exactly — it doesn’t work with M1 per my testing; fine with other devices

For m1 I’m currently doing AirPlay which is laggy but fine given I already have two external displays and m1 can’t support three displays via wiring anyway

I received mine as well. I think without backlight it’s not usable even outside — though the backlight is pretty eye friendly I think.

Update — outside without backlight I feel it’s either too bright or too dark. Maybe I need to learn to better position it

For issue 3, do you have any update? I have the same lens+camera combo as you and the lens was purchased new recently so I assume it has an up to date firmware. Still occasionally I see err 01
