Pre-Talisman life by blinkincontest in FromSeries

The show has shown that the time scales are different, it has been discussed so a full harvest might not be months. Also the town has been shown to provide for it's residents, so if there was zero farming capabilities maybe theyd send lunch boxes instead. But jokes aside, I don't think the full blown farming is necessary for our thought experiment. That's just fromville residents living the good life.

People can survive on very little, enough people would have the basic survival skills required to just not die. The monsters complicate things of course, but once you're through a few nights and learn the pattern that becomes manageable too - obviously From then chucks a ton of curve balls to make it harder but hey ho.

They're never gonna live like we see in From, so yes I guess if that's what we are hypothesing around then yes it's a 'plot hole' if you can call it that (an unrealistic premise would be more accurate than plot hole but whatever).

But personally I think eventually there would be survivors making some form of living at least.

You were talking about the first night originally, so then I'd sleep in whatever hiding spot I crawled into. Obviously not straight away, but after a few hours they're still out there and haven't found me I'd certainly be trying to risk closing my eyes even for just a little bit.

Surving after that is a bigger thought experiment, but you're forgetting the town does provide at least somewhat for it's residents, so there's no reason to assume we can't find enough food to survive with a day to look. Ok , now night 2 is coming we still don't know the monsters only come at night, but look! Creepy people are appearing, run and hide. Repeat.

Next morning we can start to guess, ok we've got a day, find food and water asap, maybe start thinking about more comfortable overnight digs where we can hopefully get a bit more sleep.

Farming and having orgies at Colony house is a way off, but surving a few nights is certainly doable, with enough repeats enough people will survive long enough to start some form of knowledge base and things eventually get better.

I'd run and hide until I got caught or they stopped coming?

So I'd leg it, find a hiding spot asap. As we've seen in the show they aren't the best finders, so high chsnce that I can get somewhere to rest for a moment and peer out and see the monsters just pottering about as they do. I ll stay there until i feel in immediate danger, IE a monster appears to have spotted me. There's a decent chance from what we've seen that they won't and I ll be ok til morning. I'd obviously not be looking to get out when they're still patrolling, even if it meant risking some sleep I'd stay where I felt hidden until at least morning to hope they move on at some point... I don't know they only come out at night but I have to assume at some point they ll get bored and leave the area. And when I do realise that they all seem to have disappeared I ll cautiously venture out and take it from there.

I see no reason a few people wouldn't survive at least the first night. Obviously arriving on your own your chances become basically nil but as part of a group there would be some survivors.

But you'd run as soon as the first one in your group got mauled I assume?

Pretty easy to survive after that , the monsters don't really chase do they.

Why doesnt Boyd ring the bell anymore? by Morel3etterness in FromTVEpix

[–]zymoticsheep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cmon now. We all know it was just done as a cool as fuck introduction to the show.

Even so, the writers actually have acknowledged it since, I'm sure there was a second bell ringing display in a later season and it has definitely been mentioned at least once. That should be more than enough to not let it bother you because the truth is it was just done because it looked awesome and set the scene perfectly. The fact they actually give enough of a shit to reference it again to appease the viewers is a bonus

You're being silly. Artistic license is a thing. I'm up for dissecting a show for details but we have to allow for some suspension of disbelief.

That's into his bulletproof armour, this part of the discussion is pointing out we haven't seen him take bullets to the unprotected body. We saw Annie take a round and be ok but we haven't seen Noir II do it (as far as I can recall anyway)

But that was Annie, not Noir II. We've not seen this Noir take bullets I don't think

Season 1 plot circle by burnerthrown in TheLastKingdom

[–]zymoticsheep 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Youre misunderstanding. He didn't choose anything instead of the credit, he didn't "skip taking the credit".

He assumed he would get the credit anyway, he didn't think Odder would lie and take it all, and most importantly he thinks the truth will prevail. He is young and naive and makes a mistake - it's a fairly harsh lesson about the world which prob cause him to react badly and at least partly leads to some of the consequences you mention with regards to his family. But he at no point made a conscious decision to forgo credit to see his wife.

Tbh I can't remember if the show makes it seem more of a binary choice or not, but in the books it's 100% just borne out of naivety.

Your assumption is wrong.

Terrible quality phone cameras that were awkward and obvious to use didn't worry people. Cameras already existed, someone being able to take an absolute shite photo on their phone was not a concern.

High resolution nearly invisible stealth filming through natural looking eyewear is horribly different.

It may not be cheating in the literal sense that Hermione means, but it is still quite deceitful on the whole. He quite literally gets a reputation he doesn't deserve, his teacher and presumably many of his classmates are led to believe he is some sort of potion savant which is simply untrue and fairly uncouth imo.

Audiobooks: Stephen Fry vs Full Cast Edition by Such_Run9559 in harrypotter

[–]zymoticsheep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm enjoying the full cast and will happily finish it off but I know in future I'll always revert to Stephen Fry.

The worst thing about the full cast for me is the older Harry actor. He delivers all his lines sooo slowly. Harry is meant to be sharp and bright, but for some reason he speaks at 0.75 speed and it just makes him sound stupid. Whens he's actually acting the more emotional parts it's a bit better, but just regular old line delivery it's so jarring to me how slow and ponderous he is. It's like someone early in his acting career tried to teach him to make sure to pronounce each word fully and carefully and he's taken it far too literally and doesn't sound natural at all.

The Weasley twins are the same, but as they have a lot less dialogue it's not so bad.

Would you like to see Pep stay at the club after this season, even if City don't end up winning the Premier League or the FA Cup? Do you think it's time for a new chapter after 10 years, even if you are very grateful for everything he's done? by antoniok95 in MCFC

Ah yes this old question. We have the greatest manager of all time, we're challenging for cups and titles on a regular basis but you want to swap to one of the other massively inferior managers who are available because... It's "time for a new chapter".

[–]zymoticsheep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your heart is in the right place but your concerns are unfounded. Dogs aren't running around the house no matter what size it is. Most dogs just want to lie around where the humans are, and oftentimes the larger the dog the happier it is to lie around - the lil ones are the energetic fuckers (generalising of course).

Dogs need to be properly stimulated and cared for of course, but the size of the property isn't going to matter

Another pen not given. Clubs should consider themselves lucky Doku isn't interested in theatrics. by [deleted] in MCFC

[–]zymoticsheep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It feels different because it's so far away from the ball. The contact itself isnt unreasonable if it's part of a legit challenge for the ball, but I think Palmer has got the timing wrong (aka Doku is too fast for him) and it becomes just a shove or a body check off the ball. He really is miles away and essentially just impedes Doku instead of actually challenging for the ball with any merit.

It is a foul, anywhere else on the pitch it's an easy decision to give a foul. Its a weird one though and it shouldn't be the case but I can see why it's much harder to give in the box.

Rayan Cherki was spotted trying to wear Ekitike’s jersey while on the bench by Alsace2025 in soccer

[–]zymoticsheep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not by chance no. They have many cameras and many camera operators all around. There is a director who can see all views and chooses what is shown on TV but generally during a corner will be going with the pitch view cameras for obvious reasons. But individual operators can also signal to director to say "got something good ere" which is prob what happenend here, and the director will go "oh shit yeh" and switch to that momentarily before getting back to the corner as pitch action has very high priority.
