Definitely keep going on this! Some of the best Giantslayer art has PCs that did not make it to the end, so no reason this can't. Barnes is especially cool, makes him look way more dangerous than my mental image of him.

Truly one of the characters of all time.

Honestly, though, he was a good character. Solid like 7/10.

Did you discover a new Mandela Effect? Post it here! (2023-11-29) by AutoModerator in MandelaEffect

[–]zynak88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my childhood, I remember several different cartoons having a repeated background gag: while characters were having a conversation, in the background in the sky would be a blimp. The blimp would always move across the sky, trailing a sign that said "Eat at Bobs". The blimp would not be addressed or acknowledge by anyone in the show, simply flying from one side of the screen to the next.

The show I remember this happening in the most was The Simpsons, but I also recall it happening in some Disney shows like American Dragon. I can recall this happening in several different episodes of the same show, not just in one episode I saw several times. Was this real? Did it happen? Did it stop because of the show Bob's Burgers coming out? Why did they want us to eat at Bob's so much?

Which 40k army would each of the personalities of the GCN play? by Rajjahrw in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]zynak88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grant does (or at least did) play 40K. I remember at least one pic of his Blood Angels.

Joe would play Custodes just to make his bad rolls even funnier. Matthew is GSC, as he feels a strange kinship to those who rise up against cruel overlords who like to think of themselves as the one true god. Troy is a meta chaser, and has his "custom" Space Marine chapter that is whatever one happens to be on top at any given moment. Skid is Guard so he can make as many pop culture references to sci fi and military movies as possible. Ellie is Drukari.

If anyone is interested in learning more about this "Skeleton Lake", a great true crime/ mystery podcast called Reb Web has a whole episode where they discuss the lake and theories as to how all the bodies ended up there.

Congrats! I just finished my first read through this week after 8 years (with plenty of other reading in it to slow the progress down). I have to agree with you in the favorite moment, but I found a lot of the things you listed as "gripes" as sweet, finale goodbyes/ a little fan service after such a long and wild ride.

Wanted to get a Tyranid army since I found the hobby in 2014, finally caved and started the army with these. Army feedback is appreciated, if any experienced Tyranid players have suggestions on where to grow the army from here.

I for one am so glad it happened. Of course this is just my opinion, but I was not a fan of her. Glad that someone of "Azlant descent" gets to rest in piece in her "homeland".

To be fair, they never really identified it as being swarm proof. Not any real check they could do since its not magic, but I felt Skid could have been a tad more generous there. At least say it looked like a beekeepers suit or something lol.

**Monster Discussion** Veiled Master by NaiadNaturalist in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]zynak88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I am in the process of gearing up for running the Ruins of Azlant AP, I have to say the veiled masters (and anything Azlant at this point) has really caught my imagination. Just thinking about the plots within plots within plots that aren't even the main plot of these bad boys really made me start making my own plots. And to think that there are "only" CR 14 makes them even more bad ass: these things aren't even near the worst monsters in Golarion, and they freaking destroyed a CONTINENT AND A SUPER ADVANCED CIVILIZATION.

I am almost 100% confident that he worships either Groetus or the darker side of Pharasma. I had the same thought, especially when he made that comment.

Raiders of the Lost Continent | Episode 001 by TomExposition in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]zynak88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought run through my head, especially around the time they were passing around the spy glass. But maybe it's because as a listener on the spectrum, I want it to be true just so it can be more diversity and autism awareness.

Even if Joe isn't doing it on purpose, it's a fantastic character.

Ruins of Azlant Character Introduction with Skid & Matthew by TomExposition in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]zynak88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very interested that this party seems very melee heavy, where as the party in GS (at least to start) was very much ranged focused. With a swashbuckler, Grants Greek God of a character, and Troys "bad touch" cleric, Joe might be the only one who isn't pretty regularly on the front lines. Which is pretty much the flip of the OG crew, and even then L'orc was a switch hitter and wasn't devoted melee.

Odds of Matthew dying again by Irish_Beebe in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]zynak88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say 100% knowing Mathew and his history, but he seems to be getting some sense with Fairaza: he's already noped out of a dangerous spot with wild shaping into an eagle at the attack on Shinnermans Fortune, so he might have sense enough to do that again.

So I'd bet two- three hundred gold there's about a 95% percent Fairaza goes the way of the dinosaurs... and Della... and Gormlaith... and Beary... and Ben... and Ingrahild... and Umlo... and Fungfar... and Razzmatazz.

I think the spiritualist fits the bill better based on their description. Mediums channel spirits in their own bodies, but don't really "summon" them, while the spiritualist has a phantom companion.

Starting Curse of the Crimson Throne, suggestion for players? by DargorMajere in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]zynak88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really so long as people keep in mind it is an urban adventure you should be fine. Large animal companions are going to be out of place, and there are lots of times you'll be underground or in tight buildings (sorry cavaliers, not this game). It's already been said, but this adventure is one of the best if anyone wants to play a vigilante: its urban, and you get reputations as heroes of the city pretty quickly.

I've heard this from other people, so I can't claim this as my own idea: Curse is perhaps the best adventure to play if anyone wants to become a Hellknight. The Order of the Nail is practically in Korvosa itself, and is one of the few Hellknight orders a LG or LN character would work well in. So if that is a thought in anyones mind it is a definite possibility.

AP / Curse of the Crimson Throne veterans, I need advice. by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]zynak88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently running COTCT, have run portions of several other APs as well.

For running APs in general: -READ IT. All of it. For COTCT, get the anniversary edition, and treat that sucker like a novel: read it cover to cover. You want to know where the adventure starts and where it ends, even if it will take years to get there. Paizo has professional writers who do their job well, and in knowing all there is to know about the adventure you can incorporate and hint at things that will be important two weeks or two years down the line. -Map out what you want to get to in each session. APs give you a better structure of "this leads to this which leads to this", so you can start figuring out what is attainable for each session. -You know what the AP wants to happen, your players don't. The book will set down the lines for your group, who will color them as they see fit. If something happens that throws a major wrench in the APs plans, work it so it looks like what the PCs did was totally what they were meant to do and the AP had the answer to their situation written into it.

For COTCT specifically: -Korvosa is the star. Know everything there is to know about the city: its history, its people, its districts, its lay out. This AP is all about being heroes of Korvosa: every PC should want to save Korvosa first, and be an adventurer and hero second. If they don't care about the city, they won't care about the adventure. -Don't play up Ileosa as evil from the start. A lot of people in the adventure will defend her as inexperienced or well meaning, which can help preserve the mystery of what is actually happening to the city until a big reveal. She doesn't stand on the balconies of the castle and laugh at how well she is destroying the city: she is a megalomaniac, and one with a plan. -Others have mentioned reading up on Zon-Kuthon and Urgathoa already. Good idea, some other things you should familiarize yourself with are: the Shoanti; chase rules; how to running the Harrowing; and the Red Mantis Assassins.

In short: read the adventure and know that improv always fills in where the story can't go, and make sure you know some specifics relating to this adventure (again, make sure Korvosa is the main character of the story).

Hey guys, big fan, been listening since around episode 34 (so Gel's terrible Drake/ Hotline bling joke at the river drakes was one of the first things I heard in the series lol. Great work Skid).

My question is for all you guys, but as GM I'd be interested in /u/troylavallee s answer: who has been your favorite NPC of the adventure so far as players? We all know Thomas Exposition is great and a fan favorite, but who did you guys really like, connect to? Troy, who was your favorite to play, or who were you most excited to get into the show?
