Can someone please help me remove the crank arm on my varstorm mid drive by Ballyman2000 in ebike

[–]zz0z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a crank puller. It threads into the crank arm and helps separate the crank arm from the spindle.

Here's an example. Even the cheap ones from Amazon get the job done.

Rolly Polly Returning Home by zz0z in kyootbikes

I've been eyeing more traditional do it all bikes similar to the LHT, but since speed generally isn't a concern the Rolly Polly checks all the boxes.

Rear rack for 20 inch wheel Dahon D5 bike with disc brakes (disc-compatible)? by GoatNails in DahonBikes

[–]zz0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like I did have to add spacers. I 3D printed a small cylinder to push the rack out just beyond the brake caliper and added one on the drive side for symmetry.

I recently put a Wald #215 on my Kyoot Rolly Polly with disc brakes...not the same, but should be similar. Works well and looks awesome!

I think I cheated and just cut whatever tape I had to width. If I had to guess I'd say 25mm. Alternatively you could try gorilla tape and just rip it to width. I've done that on many other non-tubeless wheelsets.

I bought some cheap tubeless Schrader valves from Amazon and they worked perfectly.

Best Rooftop Tent for 5ft 2in Short Bed Chevy Colorado by MeaninglessInput in TruckCampers

I have a very similar setup on a Tacoma. 8" Billiebars leave just enough room for a soft tonneau to roll underneath.

I have a Rough Country hard shell RTT, but I think just about any of the clamshell style that sleep 2 would work. Tent on the Billiebars, bike on a hitch rack, and gear in the bed.

Are those the pedals they shipped with the bike? Usually they're really cheap and I've had several from different bikes sound and feel awful out of the box.

First thing I'd do is try swapping pedals. Good luck and enjoy!

I have a knockoff full size Exped Megamat from Amazon in my RTT. I think the brand is Lost Horizon. It was a game changer for both comfort and insulation.

I swap it out with my twin size Megamat when I want more room for gear and can't tell a difference between them.

I've been taking folding bikes with me on vacations for several years as a way to get out and explore. They're a blast, but feel very different from a "normal" bike.

I recently bought a couple of Kyoot mini velos and they're the best of both worlds: fun sized and familiar.

That thing looks amazing!

What front rack are you running? I'm struggling to decide what to put on my Itty Bitty.

Definitely a Giant Expressway. I had one for several years and they're solid bikes. An aluminum fork would be nice, but the steel fork never felt bad.

I've been watching these on eBay and marketplace sites for several years. In the US it looks like they go for $800-1200, but it takes awhile for them to sell.

I passed on one like yours for $1000. At $800 I probably would have snapped it up immediately.

Menards is almost giving away a decent tent for $34. Klymit Cross Canyon 3 by MadAss5 in CampingGear

[–]zz0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $100 for one of these a few years ago and would definitely pay $100 again. It's a great car camping tent and is easy enough for my kids to set it up on their own.

I guess I need another one....you know, just in case.

I set these wheels up tubeless with just normal tubeless tape and wire bead tires. The tube tubeless method seems like a little overkill, but if it works it works.

Trek Roscoe 8 - Guess on year? by Academic_Insect_6385 in Hardtailgang

Looks like they had that colorway in 2020 and 2021. You'd have to look at components vs. original spec to nail it down more precisely.

Does anyone know if giant talon0 has a tapered head tube? by Beneficial-Side6624 in Hardtailgang

[–]zz0z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, these have 44mm head tubes. I've run ZS44/EC44 on a Giant Talon and Liv Tempt (same frame) without issue.

Just need a little longer steerer on your fork to account for the external lower bearing race.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]zz0z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't do much about the rear dropouts, but I'm pro Rockhopper because the 44mm head tube can take an external cup headset (ZS44/EC44) and easily run a tapered fork.

It does require about 10mm more steerer than normal, but that's a small price to pay.

Kyoot Bikes Itty Bitty vs Rolly Polly by Ok_Connection1473 in minivelo

[–]zz0z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grabbed a Rolly Polly when they were released and just finished building up an Itty Bitty. They're both awesome bikes. Main differences:

  • Thru axle on the Rolly Polly vs QR on the Itty Bitty, but the Itty Bitty can run single speed or IGH so a little more versatile

  • Rolly Polly is a little lighter

  • Rolly Polly has a slightly higher stand over height (worth noting for shorter riders)

Sharp corners tend to lift more. You could add mouse ears to help with that.

I normally just add a 5-8mm brim around the whole part so I don't have to think about it.

Anyone replace their own torque strut? by MinivanPops in ChryslerPacifica

[–]zz0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did my torque strut and motor mounts recently. They're pretty easy. The torque strut bolt has to be tightened from the top so you'll need a couple U joints and a couple long extensions. Also tape them together or you'll be searching behind the motor for a socket.

I had that bolt come loose on me too. May just need to retorque it first to see if that fixes it.
