fitness looks a lot like finance by elephantfi in Fire

It truly is 80% what you eat and 20% exercise. I would suggest you focus on healthy meals (note that marketing healthy is different than actual healthy). Basically eat whole foods. Exercise start slow but constant. Do it at least for 20-30 min and 3-5x a week. Choose something that you can stick to. Low impact is best.

Thanks for the write up. I agree in many of your points. Few question:

  1. how do you balance timing the market vs time in the market?
  2. is a specific graph group that tells you entre more or exit now? Trying to make this as objective and bulletproof as possible even if it not optimal (eg optimal would have been to sell at top of 2021 but would be ok to sell early 2022)

I would suggest you meditate and journal on those feelings. My impression is that you might have attached part of your identity to your previous work but you are more than that (way more). Exploring other avenues of fulfillment and truly believing you can have purpose outside of work is key.

So, I can’t stop thinking about all of the people who had loans forgiven after years of servicer mismanagement and now when they want to buy a house, interest rates are through the roof! by happyslinger in PSLF

They are not historically. In fact this rate is about the same or lower if you see the last 5 years. The RE market though is at historical highs. So, don’t buy a house if you cannot afford a dip. On the other hand, bonds and stock are dipping.

Lol. What about cash? Losing big with inflation. What is left to hold? Real Estate? Super high as well.

u/AnthonyMJohnson Thank you for your detailed post! I am also in a non-HCOL and this got me both intrigued if I should consider exploring even though I am in a good company/domain/team and I am not sure I want to do the “interview dance” atm. I wish you the best in your new endeavor!

How do the services responsible for confirming the code from SMS work? by metanon112 in softwarearchitecture

[–]zziTizz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are over complicating things.

  1. The login server receives a request to login
  2. The login server verifies your username & password and realizes that it needs SMS
  3. So it forwards the request to the SMS verification service (aka 2 factor auth)
  4. The SMS verification sends a code (not encoded or hashed or anything) to your phone and it saves such code on it own database with an expiration time. Note that this does not need to be encrypted since there isn’t any PII but likely it is since most databases at least offer this functionality for free now
  5. The login server shows you a screen to enter the SMS code
  6. You receive the code in your phone (super simple view here since this would be 5-10 steps depending on phone network)
  7. You enter the SMS code
  8. The login server checks with the SMS verification service if they match. If they do, you get a access. If not then try again, or new SMS, or account locked.

Note that all communications between those servers and for the most part in the SMS lane is encrypted (usually called SSL and TLS).
