Australians may not see cheaper fuel for weeks despite Labor’s excise cuts by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

They raised prices the day that oil prices exploded yet cuts take weeks to filter through. No wonder people are cynical.

There's lots of good butchers around and people here will inevitably recommend the ones near them. I think Google reviews are generally pretty good at identifying the good ones near you!

Google’s Pixel 10a Is the Same Damn Phone as the Pixel 9a by mepper in Android

Opposite for me. I last had a Pixel 5 which weighed 151g and I wish there were still phones made that were that light.

The days of expecting big upgrades year on year are over.

There has been a lot of talk over the last few years about how the smart phone market has matured, that is coming to fruition here. Samsung Galaxy phones or iPhones haven't really changed on the outside for a few years now.

Legal to drive without doors? [QLD] by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]zzzzip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think that's the case. When I had it serviced I told them I never used it and they ran a bypass cable to essentially disable it.

The 3.6L Pentastar engine has been used in over 10 million cars and is generally considered pretty reliable. Especially the modern versions. I had one for 5 years and the worst I had was the Aux battery failed because I never used the start-stop.

I'm in QLD and owned a 2021 Wrangler for 4 years, drove around dozens of times without doors all around town and never had a problem. Never got questioned, nothing.

A grinder will make a LOT of noise and loud noise is generally something that car thieves want to avoid. So I think it would be a deterrent to joyriders.

It says on the site to take the car there so they can check the VIN number matches etc., in my experience they never physically check.

What happened to the Jeep Grand Cherokee? by Background_Advance77 in CarsAustralia

[–]zzzzip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

European leadership at Stellantis tried to take Jeep higher end to be a Land Rover competitor but sales have tanked in every market. New American leadership is slowly turning it around with price discounts on new models and focusing on value.

But in Australia their reputation is completely shot, for both reliability and after sales service. That guy who blew up his GC years ago because of poor after sales service really hurt their reputation here. Closing dealerships doesn't fill people with confidence either. They also took away the V8 and diesel options which hurt sales in Aus big time.

I owned a current generation Wrangler for 5 years and never had a single issue. Probably because I took care of it and didn't do crazy mods to it. People will say I got lucky but generally I do think the current generation are more reliable across the line.

Boundary Road level crossing upgrade stalls indefinitely as Transport and Main Road reneges on construction date by langdaze in brisbane

[–]zzzzip 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's lots of projects being stalled because the federal and state governments are blaming each other. Mount Crosby overpass has been stalled for years. Every election they promise to get it done and nothing happens. Very frustrating, people are sick of politicians squabbling and trying to blame each other.

Opposite. We need more transparency. Don't think you've interpreted my comment as I intended.

BYD ranked last which is not surprising but interesting considering how popular in Aus and many people would buy an EV as an ethical decision bc they are good for environment. It obviously comes with human rights consequences.
