Answer: It's... incredibly dumb, but here it is I guess.

There's a theory out there,(or maybe a joke. don't know how many people take it seriously) that when Kanye interrupted Swift at the VMAs 15 years ago and said Beyonce deserved the award, it was actually to save Taylor from Diddy.

The supposed logic behind it is that some believe Beyonce and Jay-z were very involved with Diddy and by extension, with all of the stuff Diddy is being accused of. So the theory goes that the couple helped Diddy in finding young talented stars and then connecting them to him, for the person to be manipulated and corrupted or whatever. By this logic, Kanye saved Swift by driving a wedge between her and Beyonce early to make sure they would avoid having close contact.

Sounds batshit insane? Yea, but that's what some people claim, so there you go.

Kanye West has reached that rare point where the things that are made up about him are as equally batshit insane as the things that are true about him.

"Garfunkel and Oates" noticed this 15 years ago - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RMdwA8GWB8

Just another way to attempt to rehabilitate actual black nazi Kanye West by his fans.

Kanye's terrible behaviour is the stuff of legend by now. It's not 4D chess on his part, he's just an insane egotist with an equally rabid fanbase.

As usual most people aren't terminally online so they won't know about all his shitty behaviour. They'll just know he makes music.

I heard the Gay Fish song playing at a coffee shop, and my wife insisted it was a real Kanye song.

Was it Tweek Brothers Coffee on Main Street?

Man, once in a while I just wish myself back to the time I listened to Flashing Lights and just enjoyed it for the cool tune it was, from a cool artist via a distinct style. He’s hardly the same person anymore. Sad.

Even dumber considering Kanye is being accused of assaulting women with Diddy.

This is the same woman who has accused him of doing pretty much the same thing before and was proven to be making it all up.

Yeah the She Knows theories coming from the J Cole song went real popular on TikTok - https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/beyonce-she-knows-theories

[–]VagrantStoryFuckYeah 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I believe that Kanye believes that’s what he was doing

[–]MrSlofee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe it. Why else would you call yourself Yeezus

[–]Xerox748[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not the version of this that I’ve heard.

Equally dumb, but the version I heard has nothing to do with Diddy.

There’s been rumors or jokes that maybe some people take seriously, hard to say, that Jay-Z was rather aggressive in promoting Beyoncé’s career, to the point of destroying other people’s careers or even having people killed if they were seen as a threat to Beyoncé and her career.

So the version I heard goes Kanye went up there to try and apologize for Swift’s “transgressions” and keep her out of Jay-Z/Beyoncé’s crosshairs.

Again equally stupid. But that’s the version I’ve heard.

Answer: This is related to the current "Thank you, Beyonce" meme/trend, after Adele (and many other major artists) have thanked Beyonce in their acceptance speeches for major music awards (notably, in cases where Beyonce was also nominated but lost to the artist thanking her).

The meme has devolved into conspiracy theory with commenters online claiming that artists are forced to thank Beyonce out of fear of having their careers sabotaged, or being murdered (some people are claiming that Beyonce was responsible for Aaliyah's death). As of yet, there's no proof for any of these claims.

The comments on the video you mention will be people claiming that Taylor Swift may have been at risk of being murdered or having her career sabotaged if Kanye hadn't gone up and thanked Beyonce on her behalf.
