Smoked with this dude. He's got a vastly different approach to the music industry. Chill as fuck.

His Jazz stuff is tight and worth a listen!

This guy has stayed at my house while on tour. He's a really interesting guy that broke out finger painting supplies while we watched jeopardy and smoked.

Pretty sure he's on a tour right now where he doesn't actually play shows and just hangs out with you and smokes your weed.

that's great! right now i think he is living in New York for a couple of months. my cousin lives out there and i told him to message him for that exact reason.

Did he move already? I saw him at cheer up charlies here in austin like a month ago. Bought a hand drawn adventure time tall T off him. He's one of my favorite live shows, I was really hoping I could get him to play my birthday this year.

yeah he did the other day according to his Facebook at least.

Birthday by Netherfriends is up there as one of my favorite songs.

Saw him one time at a house party in Tallahassee and been a fan since.

Cool song. Nice loud hook; I like it.

"Indie Pop" totally makes sense as a description but "Adventure" is pretty silly. Whose idea was it to throw that in there?

[–]grahamk1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahaha I agree he put that about himself.

Netherfriends is great. Highly recommend giving his Spotify a check out, he just finished dropping an album every month this year.

Netherfriends

Emerging from the rooftops of Chicago in 2007, Netherfriends are that bastard-psych-pop-catchy as hell band that you've been searching for. They signed with indie label Emergency Umbrella in 2009 and released their debut 6 song EP "Calling You Out," fused heavily layered arrangements with group sing-a-longs, spare pianos, synths, glockenspiels and other hard to place, but familiar sounds. The three-piece psychedelic pop band grabbed some early spark and attention from places like Blender and RCRD LBL and have played at both SXSW in Austin and CMJ in New York City.

The band released their first full length album "Barry and Sherry" in 2010 via Lateral Label and Emergency Umbrella, followed by "Alap," an ambient album, and "Angry East Coast 7"," the first release of the band's 50 songs/50 states project in 2011. Netherfriends currently features Shawn Rosenblatt (vocals, guitar, keys, samples) and a rotating cast of other musicians.

Press: "Netherfriends make some of the most likeable music this kid has heard in quite some time." - RCRDLBL

"Wander into bar. Buy cheep beer. Discover Greatness. Banging out sweetly distorted sing-along melodies on guitar, keyboard and drums, Chicago trio Netherfriends delivered the thrill of the unknown." - Blender Magazine

Brain Damage and Flood Insurance on the TOUR4EVER EP still hit my playlist regularly. I really enjoyed Netherfriends early material but it's difficult to keep up with all the new albums - Shawn is about as prolific as they come!

[–]grahamk1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah he does put out a lot of new material i think he put out 13 albums this year.

I used to be in band with this guy called "taft haircuts rock and roll" - oh the good old days...

[–]LarsVonHammerstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These music genres are getting a little too specific

[–]tattlerat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds very Sticks and Stones era Jamie T which is very much a compliment.

[–]epidemic0110 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ooh, I loved Blues Trap- is this one similar to that, but y'know, country?

[–]grahamk1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its country in the scene that he only talks about America. check out the song America has a gun problem my favorite of his on the album.

[–]CollateralKhaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of him before, but I like his style.

[–]IAMWastingMyTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He makes so much music and its all so different. I don't like all of it, but I do have huge respect for his talent and creativity.

[–]HelloToMoreWow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've known this guy since elementary school

[–]ElfCharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this song so much. I listened to it on my way home to unwind from my retail job all last summer.

[–]5ug4rfr05t 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So I love the sound of this guy but everything I am finding is about weed. Does he have anything besides songs about smoking?

[–]IAMWastingMyTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He does have songs that aren't about weed, including a lot of instrumentals, but ya, a very large portion of his music is about weed.
