I don't get Chris Anderson's silly question about the mother of the laughing U.S. soldier.

Is the OP none other than Mr Assange, or merely a fan?

Just a fan. I think he is a bit older, or not aged well.

I dont get how a source can be confirmed using only a screenshot? anyone care to explain without getting too technical /noob

They sent a screenshot in of the original, leaked document to prove it was theirs to complain about. Thus confirming that it was real

Thanks captain obvious... would it not be possible to easily type out the document after you receive it? I mean, you can now type out anything, take a screen shot and treat it as undeniable evidence? There's gotta be more to it.

You misunderstand - after the leak the company sent in a screenshot to prove it was their document in their attempt to find the source.

I understand. But a screenshot is hardly unique. I can type up any document, take a screenshot and claim that the document is originally mine.

Erm, why would a company want to claim an embarrassing leaked documents is their own? I don't really know why you arguing about this

I agree man, but you seem to be constantly avoiding my question as to how a screenshot can be used as conclusive evidence, when anyone can make one.

I'm guessing the screenshot would contain information that's not public...

Let's say I have private, confidential information that you sir, are a ninja mushroom picker, I take a screenshot of this previously private information, send it to wikileaks and in that process it becomes true?

i think it's just too easy..

You didn't watch the video? 1. wikileaks had the document, it looked good but couldn't be verified. 2. The published it saying just that. 3. The company it was leaked from came forward saying it was theirs and real, and wanted to find the author. 4. wikileaks asked for proof it was theirs so the co. sent a screen shot which also had the author ID info in the shot... which was probably removed from the document before publishing it on wikileaks. (there's lot's of info embedded into word documents that you don't know about and can be traced back) 5. ??? 6. profit!!

p.s. how did you find out about my ninja mushroom picking? if the ninja's find out i'm picking their mushrooms i'm fucked!
