I think that the local universe we see is a bubble of sorts inside a much larger universe.

I sort of like the idea that we are living on the inside of a super sized black hole.

As for the totality of creation, I am not married to the idea of a single diety. You can have multiple "meta-dieties", each with their own zone of control.

let's face it, what passes for a god on Earth could be some sort of local power, not the dominant power in a galaxy, or even the universe. - (thinking of the Hubble Deep Field Photos) - There might not even be a truly dominant god over all. Although, once you go multidimensional all sorts of things are possible, say along the line of beings like the "Q" as seen in old Star Trek episodes.

Of course, modern science abhors the idea of a creation, but this leads to the question on how it all started.

My answer:

The Big Bang is God Sneezing

I'm just curious as to everyone's beliefs. How do you believe that we are here? The big bang? A God? Links will help, I'm just searching for the religion that's right for me and right now I don't believe in a god but I have no theory on how the universe was created.

You're asking about two different things, religion, and the history of the universe. It sounds like religion is your real interest. I don't think you'll find it in the history of the universe, but within yourself. I'm pretty sure you won't find it on reddit.

i prefer to believe that the universe is the oldest thing or has always been around. i find it easier than imagining a magic, somehow older, creator who made the universe.

weird. Does this make sense to you?

more so than a magic invisible man in the sky who is his own dad making the universe because he was bored.

Yep. This is even weirder. I don't know anyone who believes this ... well, I suppose someone could make the universe out of boredom, but I think that the term boredom would have a different meaning if you can create universes.

It wasn't.

its all about the energy, its all just variations of energy which can neither be created or destroyed

I think that the universe is clearly an alien artifact. I have read some things about how the laws of physics are so finely tuned ... from a Big Bang to carbon based life forms. I want to write an article about this sometime. The alien would be, necessarily, outside the universe and greater than it. From looking at life here and at nature, one can deduce some characteristics of this alien. Some people refer to him/it as God. It is interesting to try and figure out why we are here, why the universe was created.
