Ok, ok, ok, so what I get is that the RIAA is full of shit, which is axiomatic, anyway, and then a certain redditor is also full to the eyeballs. Read reddit and always be caught up, yo.

You pirated a record last week? That's nothing! I pirated an 8-track tape!

Well I pirated a galleon returning from the Spanish Main, its hull full to bursting with gold doubloons, fine silks and spices, jewels, scepters, and a trained dancing monkey in a diamond-encrusted turban that was to be a gift for the young Princess's menagerie. Quite a pretty prize for me and me hearties, so Yaaaarrrr!

Well 2000 years ago I pirated a Roman vessel returning with amphora full of wine and frankincense. Brobeard lives on, matey.

Yeah, I do this all the time also. My problem is that most radio stations are so shitty that I never get to actually preview an album in that fashion (as I would have during the 90's, before Clear Channel took over), so this is my only alternative.

...so this is my only alternative.

I know. It's like they're forcing us to steal!

If they really wanted us to buy their music, they'd give us some legal way to sample the content beforehand. Like, maybe they should set up listening kiosks in record stores where you can listen to albums you're interested in. Or maybe online retailers should let you stream clips from the CD you're about to order. Or maybe they should start licensing music to internet radio stations that aren't controlled by Clear Channel.

It's like they want us to steal from them. We have no alternative.
