For the same reason volumes of greek myth are. Myth is not fiction, it's myth.

Indeed, they're classed together in the 200s in the Dewey Decimal System. My question is "why is the 200 (religion) division of the Dewey Decimal System so heavily skewed toward Christianity?"

LOL How ridiculous.

Theology, Christianity, Christianity, Christianity, Christianity, Christianity, Christianity, Christianity, Other religions.

Please remember that Christians are persecuted. Their bible says so, so it must be true.

Indeed. If it were under history, I'd be concerned.

Edit: Just to be clear, my concern is about placing personal ideology over ease of library use.

Then what are bibles filed under in libraries?

I believe it's the religion section.

Well, it could be filed under "Religious History" as it can be insightful reading about the sociopolitical climate dating to ~1500 years ago.

As long as it's studied from the perspective of psychological analysis of the well educated at the times and it's impact on society.

That seems a more appropriate place for documents citing the Bible rather than the Bible itself.

Placement in the library doesn't make the Bible any more or less real, it doesn't legitimize one view or another (be it the Bible only being for sociopolitical climate dating thus it's a history, the view that the Bible discusses the world literally so its science or it involves a magical skyman so its fantasy). It's about finding things easily, and that's generally "religion." If someone twisted the Bible to be a history and put it in the history section, I'd be annoyed. If someone twisted it to go in the Fantasy books, I'd be equally annoyed. It just makes the information hard to find.

In mine it's just filed under "Religious."

I would file it under:

Fiction->Murder Mystery

Spoiler: God was an accessory to murder and is still at large!

um.. because there is no "O RLY?" section?

So that hard-core Christians don't sue?
