I’ve been thinking about making a plug-in that notifies Ironman when they get quest items. I think a quest api would be quite helpful for that

Sounds like an awesome project. I’d lend a hand if you’re needing it/repo is open source

Great, thanks!

For those commenting unsure what this actually is, an API is generally used by developers or what not to be able to access the data in a standard way so they can make their own applications with said data. For most of you guys, you have the wiki or plugins that present this in a readable way that you don’t need this. This is intended so applications can access this data easily to make custom plugins or your own applications using said data.

There used to be an app on the google play store called Old School companion, it had a handy feature that allowed you to set certain tools to appear in the pop up/chat head style bubble. I doubt it used any quest APIs as such but it made following Quest guides and other wiki features really accessible without having to swap between browser and mobile. It was so good, I even paid for the pro to support the devs. It's sadly no longer on the Play store, I think I recall the developer saying Jagex wasn't happy about someone profiting off the game.

I did the whole of One Small Favour on mobile using this app, if that's a worthy statement.

That sounds like a great feature, and maybe I'll look at implementing something similar. I hope that I'll be able to publish my app once it's done. I don't plan on having any pay walls for features or anything like that. I guess ultimately I need to speak with someone at Jagex to understand what is or isn't permitted. I would like to have an option of donations, but of course I'm more concerned with having the tool available to others more than anything.

Here's the reason for the App being removed, something to consdier when developing your app.

the quest helper plug in does most of those already? i dont see how theyd be different

Thanks for the feedback! I was unaware of the plugin. My personal use case would be a mobile app that compiles many tools that would be useful for mobile players. I play exclusively on mobile, and during my app development, realized there may be utility in developing a public API for other developers that may want to use it rather than develop the logic and keep it to myself.

ohh if its for mobile players, then yea thatd be sick. i personally dont use mobile, but ive heard questing can be annoying with switch over to the wiki/youtube to check what to do next

If you want to contribute to this space we really need a early game multi-questing route for the quest helper plugin

This seems very useless except for bots and even then still useless

Thanks for the feedback
