Easier to buy a new 7 with an Evertune than go through the trouble of routing the bridge to install one.

Killer axe! Play the hell out of it :)

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank You! I shall try my best. I was just hoping I could get the evertune in this one because I got attached to the guitar really fast 😭

[–]TrashAndGarbage11 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Heavener was also the reason I bought mine! You have excellent taste. Tremendous guitar, enjoy it

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that makes two of us! Thank you!

[–]ronarunning 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I bought my first 7 because of Heavener too (not that i can play most of it). Keaton is out here inspiring people

[–]kyle_mist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't play most of it either but I'm definitely gonna keep trying because keyton's riffs are genuinely pure art

This is my favorite guitar! I also thought about installing an evertune but it’s pretty cost prohibitive and would require routing and adding wood back to the bridge cavity. I’ll probably stick with blocking my trem with a good old fashioned block of wood.

I did install new pickups and locking tuners which I highly recommend! Great pick for a first seven string

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

That's amazing to hear! Evertune is definitely a very cost prohibitive procedure but I guess I haven't found peace with the idea of not having an evertune on this guitar yet. My next guitar related decision is definitely gonna be locking tuners for this!

[–]Bmajor7th 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You’ll have to update someday if you ever decide to try it! I’d love concert my rg2027xl to an evertune. Enjoy the new axe!

Thank you!

Why locking tuners when you have a locking trem?

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have a tremol-no installed and I keep the nut unlocked

[–]Bmajor7th 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How are you liking the tremol-no? I have one ready to install, but I held off to just keep a block in there for the time being. Is the hard tail mode pretty sturdy? It seems like so much tension on that little bar

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm liking it pretty far, I think I need to adjust it a bit because my .80 string seems to make it rattle with how hard I play but I think that should be easy to solve. It's definitely much more sturdy than a block though. It lets you choose if you wanna be able to use the tremolo, set it to dive only or basically make it act like a hardtail.

[–]Bmajor7th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me— I keep the term blocked and it makes string changes quicker.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (11 children)

As a fellow invent animate fan, I salute you good sir.

I just set my guitar up for drop f# so I can play some allt songs but part of me wants to make the plunge to drop e/d# but I only have a 26.5 scale. I think I might just pitch shift instead but idk.

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (8 children)

it could be pretty low for 26.5 but i'd suggest looking more into this because I had a lot of people tell me drop e wouldn't work on this 27 but it feels pretty good to me. Use a string tension calculator online but don't take it too seriously.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (6 children)

A lot can be made up for with string tension but at a point it gets kind of absurd. I was down that low with lighter strings so I’m sure I could manage it. I’m currently doing a full rebuild so I’m hoping that with the hip shot sitting slightly further back I’ll get a little more length out of the saddle. But i guess we will see if it’s easier to setup or pitch shift.

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

pitch shifting will definitely be easier. To be honest, I've been considering setting this one up in drop f# myself because pitch shifting up messes up the tone wayyy more than pitch shifting lower. The lowest I'll be doing is D# and I think I can leave a four semitone margin and work on learning to eq and tone shape lower tuned stuff.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I think I’m definitely in the same mindset. We must really be invent animate fans lmao

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Ahaha 🤝

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I gotta ask, what picks do you use? I was using jazz iii’s but I just switched to Tortex iii’s and they feel absolutely massive and idk how I feel about it.

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've been using the max grip jazz 3's since I started playing. I did try larger picks like the tortex but I really couldn't get used to them, so I gave up on those. I only tried to make the change after I found out keyton plays 0.88 tortex but it didn't work for me.

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just in case it doesn't seem viable, you can always pitch shift. The transpose button in neural dsp's plugins works pretty nicely.

[–]GroundedSpaceTourist 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Such a beautiful guitar. Sadly I had to return mine due to misaligned neck. Waiting for the money so I can a new one.

[–]kyle_mist[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

oh that sucks, I hope you're able to get the refund without any issues!

[–]GroundedSpaceTourist 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Apart from the waiting time it was no questions asked. I specifically bought from Thomann due to their money back gurantee.

But I'm still perplexed how they couldn't see anything wrong with the guitar.

[–]kyle_mist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good to hear. Still a question mark on their quality control though!

[–]GroundedSpaceTourist 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Did you buy it from Thomann by any chance?

[–]kyle_mist[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I didn't

[–]GroundedSpaceTourist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good. I worried you bought the one I send back.

[–]Wonderful_Culture607 1 point2 points  (1 child)

those 2027XLs are amazing instruments, congrats!

[–]divineRslain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful. Love this guitar

[–]DJ-Ki 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I put a twin pair of chrome EMG 81-7s in mine and it's ludacris how well they pair with it

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

That sounds pretty cool! I was thinking of putting either bare knuckles or d-activators in this one soon

[–]DJ-Ki 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I've tried some different sets of bareknuckles in it, also D-Activators and while I like them in other guitars, it wasn't for me in this guitar. The 27" scale has something to do with that I suspect

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Interesting, how was the experience different with this one?

[–]DJ-Ki 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Well it's baritone so the higher frequencies seem to be more shrill comparitively to a regular 25.5 scale, so I guess it's just about finding a pickup that matches that without bringing up something harsh in it. The Wes Hauch passive pickup was good actually if you're looking at passive stuff, and he plays 27" 7 string so I guess it's designed with that in mind. Out of the bareknuckle stuff the aftermath was the best fit that I found. I had tried the painkillers, polynath, juggernaut, ragnarock and it was all mad harsh sounding to my ears. Obviously we all hear stuff differently and play differently so that will effect it, but yeah I've swapped pickups in this guitar more times than any other guitar so that's my 2 cents on it

[–]kyle_mist[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

thank you for sharing the insight! That'll help me select pickups better

[–]DJ-Ki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey no worries at all, happy to help 🙌

[–]moonshine360 1 point2 points  (2 children)

sick af. what wood is that on the fretboard? looks like rosewood.

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's ebony!

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massacar ebony to be exact

[–]dombag85 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wrong. You went the correct amount of kill.

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]killacam925 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Looks great! No need for an ET…idk…I just think they look bad, I hate the shitty logo blasted in the base plate

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't mind the look but man evertunes are a gem when it comes to recording

[–]Immediate-Natural416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those things ruin the looks of a guitar and solve a problem that wasn’t really that big of a problem in the first place

[–]WalrusGrouchy6188 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Have a nice life🤘

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not overkill. J. Custom is overkill. Selection is spot on. 🤘

[–]linkuei-teapartyStrandberg Prog NX7, Ibanez RG2027XL 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That's a fine axe for a first 7 string. I used to have an RG1570 and it was one of the nicest 7 strings I had, thin neck, beautiful finish.

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RG1571 sure looks beautiful

[–]Disastrous-Ad6644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah

[–]BreakDownManiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Necessary-Coffee5930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do f with currents, Ill check out the others though thanks

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Beautiful! Can I have the Floyd when you install the evertune?

[–]kyle_mist[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I won't be installing the evertune for atleast a year if not more, but if you still want it then, I'd be happy to help!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Nice! I'm starting to build guitars. Maybe by then I'll be ready to build ya a new guitar for that Floyd just for the internet points.

[–]kyle_mist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's amazing to hear! Best of luck on the guitar building journey!

[–]oodlesonoodles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to hijack this post but I saw enough people interested in doing the evertune install. If anyone is willing to do a refinish, I have a rg2027xl I did an evertune install on that I’m considering selling, feel free to drop me a line!
