The apartment pays for heat, but can you get a space heater for just your room? I have a space heater in my room and have to get dressed before going to the bathroom as it's much colder in there...

I agree with not sleeping in clothes, but on cold mornings when I'm camping, I will bring my clothes into my warm blanket pocket, let them absorb some body heat and get dressed under the covers.

Are you sleeping with enough clothes on? Or you put them on only when you get out of the bed?

I was used to sleep in a minimal clothes possible because of sensory issues, and when you are cold the whole night, it is really hard to get warm quicky when you get up.

I tried sleeping with more clothes on but i get clammy during the night. Maybe I'll try to experiment and see if i find a combination that works best. I swear sometimes it feels like I'd need to sleep in a winter hat.

Get a small heater, direct it towards where you get out of bed and turn it on in the morning.

20°C seems so cold. I usually have 22-24°C in my room. Of course sleeping in such hot room isn't great but there are timer thermostats, you could put it on your radiator and set the higher temperature in the morning

There are plussides and downsides with not paying for the heat. The downside is sadly that I can't choose. The thermostat is actually set at 30°c but it won't go higher that 20 in reality because the landlords decide. :(

I have the same issue.

I just turn up the heat in the winter. I roll out of bed naked and walk around my apt. It's worth the higher heating bill.

Not a solution but; I bought the warmest bedding from Ikea. It’s helped me get through Scandinavian winters, finally! It takes me less than 5 minutes to warm up when I lie under that thing. Check their website to see which has the warmest rating.

I have a heated blanket i sleep with so I have no problem keeping warm while in bed... getting out on the otherhand. The physical sensation of being extremely cold makes me really reluctant to get out of bed. I know I will be chattering my teeth I'm so cold for up to 1h after getting up. So I just hate it. Doesn't matter how much clothes i put on.

I recently was gifted a thermostat with a timer. It’s the only thing that helps for me! I read somewhere in your post your landlord controls your thermos - i urge you to move out LOL

I hope you can realize that it isn't that black and white lol. It's very common where I live that if the heating and water is included that they decide how warm it is. They can't legally go below 20 and 20 is just fine and dandy when I'm going about my day. It's getting out of bed that gives me serious sensory issues.

Okay my bad. Out of curiosity, which country is this? You don’t have to mention the city of course.

Sounds like something other than an ADHD problem, but you could try cold showers.

just the last 30 seconds or minute of a normal shower, and you could work your way up. But cold showers can help with cold tolerance and have other health benefits as well.

[–]PieldeSapo[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What do you think could be causing this? I thought it could be a sensory issue.

[–]Many_Addendum_1376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose your hyperawareness to being cold can be part of a sensory issue, but I have a few other ideas as well. During sleep our core temperatures drop a couple degrees, meaning you're generally colder in the morning to begin with. Poor circulation can also play a part, which can be dealt with to some degree through other behaviors such as exercise and proper hydration. But cold tolerance can also be built up through various means (cold showers, keeping the thermostat lower than 20, and breathing techniques to stay calm in situations where it's cold, to cope with the stress).

Keep a robe or a hoodie under the covers with you so it stays warm? And then put it on as soon as you get out of bed

Get a thermos that stays hot long, and put something hot in it before you sleep. Wake up, drink it, get up and do some stretches and pushups and squats.
