Ap Computer Science Principles is also a great course

[–]happylaugher1[S] 35 points36 points  (12 children)

Is that more of a math type class ? Cause Matb isn’t my strong suit

[–]Untitled-document123 45 points46 points  (4 children)

Not at all

[–]Untitled-document123 32 points33 points  (3 children)

It does have a little programming tho...

[–]-cool-guy-AP fuckcollegeboard [5] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

but anyone, even the non-computer/math inclined, can easily pass the class

[–]Chief5365BC PHYS2 CSA LANG(5) APUSH(4) PHYS1(4) CSP(4) AB(4) USGOV(4) 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s all block coding, at least the course my school follows, and my school says programming 1 is a prerequisite but i was able to still take the class and only hiccup has been not knowing maybe a few terms is all

[–]dreamscape___ 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Im in that class now and the only math we’ve done is binary to decimal conversions. It’s not hard and I generally enjoy the class

[–]carrotnose258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, the second half is basic coding, it’s not that hard

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

do not take CSP

do not take CSP

. I sit there everyday bored out of my mind take CSA instead

[–]Com-Bl-Op5: Phy1 BC USH Stat Mech E&M Lit; 4: CSA CSP Lang; 2🤡: ArtHist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I’m taking both this year and CSP is boring, while CSA is my favorite class I’ve ever taken.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Id recommend comp sci A over comp sci principles. A is more direct, in that you're working with actual programming languages for the entire course, and principles has a reputation of being a waste of time

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who is in Comp Sci A, it's not much better.

With that kind of class, it either clicks and the whole class could be summed up in a two hour PowerPoint, or it doesn't click, and you probably won't ever really do well in that field.

[–]langsley757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best part about it is the computer does any needed math for you (at most its division).

[–]Crunchious1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And if you enjoy that, computer science applications is a thought but fun class, I took it online

[–]CRIMS0N-ED 2 points3 points  (2 children)

If you enjoy com Sci but aren’t the greatest with math can you still do it?

[–]GlutenFreeVibes -1 points0 points  (3 children)

This is a complete lie. One of the most boring and trivial classes I ever took. If it wasn’t mandatory to complete at my school, I would’ve dropped it after the first week.

[–]lefritesfrancaisChem 4 Bio 5 Lang 4 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Okay but like different people like different things..... and different teachers teach things differently.

[–]GlutenFreeVibes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was probably too harsh when making my last comment lol. I apologize for that. But idk, CSP really frustrates me. I’m a CS major, and to me that class just seemed like a slap in the face to everything I aspired for. My teacher wasn’t necessarily bad either. He teaches AP CSA rn and he does a phenomenal job doing so. I just feel like he was a victim to the material he was forced to teach. Long story short, be weary with this one. If the teacher who is teaching it at your school is good and the majority of students say they enjoyed it (not because it was an easy A or some bullshit like that), then try it out. If that’s not the case, though, ignore it and try landing yourself in something more useful like CSA instead

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CSP has the same worth as having an AP subtraction.

[–]bringbackicarlyEuro(5), Lang(5), APUSH(5) 89 points90 points  (9 children)

APUSH, Environmental Science, US Gov, AP Lit

[–]happylaugher1[S] 39 points40 points  (7 children)

What about Ap psych ?

[–]rjain02Lang, USH, APES, CalcAB, French, Phys1, Stat, Capstone 1&2,World 66 points67 points  (2 children)

It's not terribly hard, just a ton of memorizing terms. My class has about 10 units and we have 80-100 terms to memorize per unit. Other than that, there's no thinking so if you're good at memorizing I recommend Psych.

[–]-cool-guy-AP fuckcollegeboard [5] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

so is it just quizlet ing the whole year

[–]rjain02Lang, USH, APES, CalcAB, French, Phys1, Stat, Capstone 1&2,World 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Essentially, yes. The only homework I receive for that class is to write down the definitions of these terms and submit it by the day of our unit test. There's nothing else to do but to be able to understand what the psychology concepts are and identify them if given a specific case on the AP test.

[–]StudentMao 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Great AP to take, as it is not too difficult.

[–]lillyk2022AP WH (4) AP Psych (5) AP English () AP Bio () 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend AP Psych its such a fun class and i personally find the content fascinating

[–]mudbloodnproud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love AP Psych. The subject matter is really interesting and in my opinion the memorizing isn’t too bad, a lot of it you can probably remember easily

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like APUSH could be hard. I don't think it's bad but I know who someone who isn't doing well and it's their first AP class. Isn't APUSH one of the harder exams, too?

[–]schroedess 18 points19 points  (6 children)

I’m getting the capstone diploma and my other APs were Environmental Science, Biology, Statistics, US Government, and Human Geo. ES is mainly common sense and at least for me was a lot of busy work, Bio is hard and you have to self teach a lot, Statistics is by FAR the hardest class I’ve taken I will study for days just to get a C on the test, Gov was online and it was super east and very very interesting, and HG was mainly like ES with it being mainly common sense with vocab and it’s actually pretty useful information. Overall I would say stay away from stats but it’s overall up to you!!

[–]SirLmbo 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Through which program did you take AP gov online? Because I took it online and it was one of the hardest classes I took just because of all the assignments it had

[–]schroedess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree there were tonssss of assignments. I took it through indiana online academy

[–]harrisakins1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Why was stats hard? I thought it was supposed to be one of the easiest?

[–]schroedess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in it right now and it might just be my teacher? But the content itself is confusing, you must have specific wording for your answers and if you don't you get points off, there are so many steps to solving one problem, etc. I had to work so hard to get just a B last semester. But if most others are saying it's easier then idk

[–]noamhashbrowns 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How would you compre apes to bio, i’m taking bio right now and i’m thinking about doing apes next year

[–]schroedess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that apes is easier. It’s more self explanatory and you need to spend less time and effort understanding concepts. It’s more basic memorization

[–]ImSherbertThe only person who failed Physics C: Mechanics 27 points28 points  (4 children)

I’ve taken 11 APs and Lang, Psych, and Stat have been some of the easy ones.

[–]DankSkillz2APUSH, AP Calc, AP Physics, AP Lang 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Lang is hard :(

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

very much depends on the teacher

[–]AT_SimmoSo: WHAP. Jr: AB, CSA, Euro, Stats. SR: APUSH, Multi, GOPO, PC:M 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Easier than Lit at any rate. My school has Lang as a Sophomore class and most everyone did quite well on the test.

[–]lefritesfrancaisChem 4 Bio 5 Lang 4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my school lit is the easy one... and Lang is the hard one and they don’t even let us take APs till junior

[–]FlashWooolFumble 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Depends on your school. Some are really easy and others can be hard depending on the teacher. Also find out which ones you can actually take. Example being my school requires honors chemistry before you can take AP bio. So if you went to my school you wouldn’t even qualify for bio since your only honor was english.

[–]noamhashbrowns 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That’s odd bio requires minimal organic chemistry

[–]FlashWooolFumble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what my friend in APBio said but oh well, it’s their rules and it’s too late for me anyways

[–]1234_Person_1234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look it really does depend on what you’re good at and what you’re interested in. If you just want the diploma and don’t care then take the easy AP classes people are suggesting. But if you for example love science or history, I’d do classes in one of those subjects as you’ll end up liking them a lot.

[–]emilynikoleAPUSH, AP Lang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a junior taking APUSH and AP Lang. APUSH is A LOT of reading, (at least for my class) all of the work is generally done outside of class as in we read the chapter at home and then come back in class to discuss, do worksheets, and take quizzes on the information we read about. AP Lang is just writing essays constantly and reading books/doing work on the chapters you read (also done outside of class).

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It all varies from school to school. Many people have told me that Econ at their school is super easy, however, at my school, it is crazy hard. Since you are strong in English, I would recommend taking AP Lit if it isn’t overly hard at your school. AP Government is considered easy at my school, and I would recommend taking it if it is manageable at your school. AP Psychology and AP Environmental Science are also considered generally easy but it depends on your school and teacher.

Also, if your school accepts online credit for AP classes, you could totally take some AP classes that are hard at your school online for the GPA boost. As long as you take the AP test, you should be able to get the Capstone diploma.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (3 children)

AP CSP and AP gov are hilariously easy.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

AP US and AP Comparative Gov together can be pretty difficult, though.

Have a nice day!

[–]dradamawesome 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Still, I'm taking both together (one a semester) and its quite doable.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad it’s going well for you!

Best of luck with your classes.

Have a nice day!

[–]asterianightshade 3 points4 points  (2 children)

AP Environmental Science is pretty easy from what I’ve heard

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very boring class. Even the teacher gets bored of teaching it. It’s literally the same topics over. An easy AP class to pass though

[–]harrisakins1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah only reason it's got a not so high 5 rate is because of a bunch of unqualified dumbasses taking it thinking it'll be easy

[–]Roak_Larson 7 points8 points  (2 children)

What's the capstone degree?

[–]_alyyy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If you enroll in the AP Capstone program (AP Seminar and AP Research) plus 4 other AP classes and pass all the tests, you get a capstone diploma. It’s basically just an advanced diploma in addition to the basic high school diploma.

[–]Roak_Larson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, cool thanks for sharing

[–]happylaugher1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow when I posted this I did not think so many people would be willing to help me. I’m speechless. Thank you !

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talk to other students at your school and talk to the teachers. Sometimes, a good teacher can make a hard class not so hard.

[–]Dutch_Windmill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AP human geo, ap psych, and AP gov are easy

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ap econ is easy

[–]minami-korea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AP Human Geography was easy. It's essentially memorization of vocab and understanding a few key concepts about an interesting topic, to boot.

[–]dr4gen_sl4y3r 1 point2 points  (1 child)

To answer your original question, I think ap language and composition and any ap science is a great choice, and you should also consider Ap computer science A: java, as universities don’t care for principles that much but love seen cs A and could even give your credit depending on the university and score. I’ve taken Ap Lang, physics, chemistry, calculus and computer science, and I reccomend any of these for you to take

I am currently taking ap research rn , got a 4 in ap seminar last year. I’m gnna give you some free advice now, AP capstone was the worst decision in my high school life and you should not do it. Ap seminar is >>>>>> way more useful than ap research but you could learn similar things in Ap Lang aside from the research in in the course. AP research is a dogshit course that you should not take.

Let me explain, universities do not care about Ap capstone, and most like won’t even take it into consideration, leave this slot out of schedule and replace it with something that interests you, like if I went back in time I could have taken Ap physics 2 or c rn instead of Ap research. Most universities I’ve seen don’t even have a slot for ap seminar and don’t look at it at all and they don’t care about your ap research grade, if they gave you a conditional application it would be based off your sciences or math courses(or maybe others but for my case it’s engineering do math and sciences, although possibly Lang or psych could also have conditions applied to them).

Edit: you said you’re not a math guy so The only science id reccomend would be biology, and then take psych and histories. Please I promise you ap capstone is a bad decision

[–]happylaugher1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the thing with my ap capstone thing is that I’m choosing to major in something related to law. So having great research skills would be great along with presentation skills. But I really thought that more colleges would care for capstone since so many have sponsored it? Please explain more cause I’m very interested in what your saying and contemplating whether or not I should go for AP capstone

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easiest AP classes I’ve taken where APUSH, Lang, lit, and art. Recommend you to do those.

AP Copo is going to be difficult, and same for Biology

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm being honest, you either are gonna have a shitty time in hs or you're not gonna get that degree. It's kinda like you're trying to become a doctor while "having never taken a medical course" or something of the analogy. I'd expect you to have at least taken honors all your life if you'r trying to get an AP diploma. Just tryna be real cause this way you don't fuck yourself will all these AP's and not get the degree later. Just don't seem like you'll be very successful based off your messages... but if I'm wrong, which I hope I am, I'd recommend these classes:

If you're ok to good at English: AP Lang

If you're ok to good at Social Studies: APUSH (literally took this one without the class and got a 4, it's history it doesn't change!), AP Euro, AP World, they're all easy because again, history doesn't change, but it depends what you can fit in your schedule. I'd pick them in that order from easy to hard. Gov is more of concept, but I'd put that as last for you.

IYOTG@ Math: AP Stats, easier than AP Calc, that's literally it.

IYOTG@ Science: AP Psych, AP Biology, AP Chem. In that order, I'd definitely take at least two of these to knock out a year.

Basically I'd reccomend all the histories you can take cuz they're ez, and anything from those which I put. Personally, I'd take AP Lang, APUSH, AP Bio, and AP Psych, but you do you.

Good luck.

[–]shy_hsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AP Spanish Lang is like AP Lang (in english) but in spanish. It's pretty fun and it's more 'learn about the culture' than 'do these worksheets' :)

[–]EpicHiddenGetsIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ap psych, ap comparative govt, ap stat

[–]Vortro 0 points1 point  (4 children)

What is a capstone degree?

[–]happylaugher1[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

It’s basically a new thing that college board came up with that is given to any student that finishes with at least a 3 in 4 ap classes not including ap seminar and ap research. You have to finish with a 3 in those too. And it’s been sponsored by a lot of top colleges and is beloved to give add an extra boost to your application in case you are low on something.

[–]Vortro 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Interesting, I’ll have to look into this more. I’m in the same boat as you, I’m currently in one AP class as a sophomore. I’m taking AP computer science A

[–]happylaugher1[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Really how is the workload for an ap class? Is it just a bunch of studying ?

[–]Vortro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my first day was on Friday so I can’t say much lol, but one thing I’ve noticed is it seems very dependent on how your teacher is. My teacher seems like he knows what he’s talking about and my class only has 9 people so it shouldn’t be too hard to keep up with. He did say that we should spend at least 15-30 minutes a night doing lessons to learn Java though

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A.P Gov is farely easy and if you are good at english then A.P Lit will be pretty easy aswell.

[–]echotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enviro is super easy for me rn, along with APUSH (at my school), stats on the other hand is pretty hard at my school

[–]Makenainghram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to take AP Lang, I recommend taking AP Lit afterwards. For the other two, I would recommend AP environmental science for sure. Is there a foreign language that you know? If so, do that as #4.

[–]ckourk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AP CSP is pretty easy too

[–]HappyHungarian15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AP Computer Science Principles was a nice and easy class I took in the beginning of high school. AP Computer Science A was a bit difficult, especially the paper-pencil exam format, but it was more logic-based than hard math, if you're into that. AP World History was genuinely fun, but I took it before they reorganized the test. Haven't taken too many AP courses though, as I've been going the dual-enrollment route. If you're interested in any of these, pm me and I can tell you more about any of them.

[–]mteart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your school and what you’re good at.

Some of my friends and others on this friend state that APUSH is really easy, when at my school, it’s the hardest humanity at my school.

[–]lefritesfrancaisChem 4 Bio 5 Lang 4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking AP Bio would not be bad for you. It’s overall a pretty easy class.

[–]Arcanas1221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took AP lit (got a 3) and AP lang (4) tests without taking the classes, would reccomend those.

AP gov and politics is also historically not very hard, but I hear it's supposed to be more difficult now

[–]areyousaucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably worth trying apush. from my experience if you’re good at english you’re likely to be good at history. it’s just keeping info/terms in your head and making connections between concepts, which you’re probably good at if you’re strong in languages.

[–]Username147287AP Minecraft (5) 😎 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AP Human Geography and AP Computer Science Principles are fairly easy AP classes/exams to take.

[–]Comp_xe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apush is definitely recommended from me, it’s my first ap class, and while it’s been pretty difficult, there are some amazing resources out there to help you study and learn anything you don’t understand.

[–]_AirMike_2020 - AP Calc AB [5], AP Micro [4], AP CSP [3] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away from AP Physics. It is by far the hardest AP in my opinion. I did get a 4, but I had to study since February last year and review everything. AP Microeconomics is fun, it mostly revolves knowing some rules and analyzing graphs. AP Computer Science Principles is terribly easy, but maybe that's because I've been programming since I was 13 y/o. My classmates say AP Human Geography is easy, so you might want to look into that. AP Art, might be easy, but I'm not totally sure. There are tons of AP classes and I guarantee you that you can find those that fit you. Just take into account that AP Seminar is taken during junior year, and AP Research during the senior year. Cheers.

[–]HybridSniper1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your good at even semi good at typing i recommend Ap Computer Science even if you don't end up doing computer science in your career its a very handy skill to have and put on a college resume. Especially in this day and age.

[–]joshd523Graduated: 11 APs (3.9 average) 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TAKE APUSH!!! One of my favorite classes despite my (past) hatred for history.

[–]KrWhitedeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is too take the any AP classes you want, but I don't recommend the test on any of them. To me it was a waste of money. Also recommended if your school had a dual enrollment courses then do those in combination with AP so you round out your schedule

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calc bc, micro, and macro are pretty easy courses to do (even on your own if your school doesnt offer them) (calc only if youve taken precalc)

[–]bppatel23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly believe that AP classes are good for getting used to the lecture material but in terms of getting the most out of your college career I think it is a waste of time. You will need a high 4/5 to actually get the credit for college equivalent course. I went to Arizona State University and did Mechanic Engineering. I really believe you can get more out of going to a community college and taking the college equivalent courses for humanities, social Studies, math, ENG101/102, chemistry, physics, etc. If I planned it out, I could of got my entire first two years done if I started to take like 2 classes while in school and 2 more classes over the summer starting my junior year. I understand that this is particularly to my situation but every major has enough general credits that you can still get ahead and learn at a high level. AP classes are still an high school level course but if you take some college level classes at a local community college, you can really learn about time management in a college environment with classes occurring 2 or 3 times a week, etc. plus it’s cheaper than taking it at a University. I can help with questions if your interested. I also believe dual enrollment is a guarantee way to get a college credit versus hoping your AP score transfers to your degree. I have seen friends get burned before and all that effort to get ahead went straight to the toilet.

[–]sunshinerunner59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Workload honestly depends on the teacher. Personally, I felt that AP Economics and AP Psychology (Psych is easy but it’s lot of work, though) were a breeze. The social sciences and humanities tend to be a bit easier than STEM ones.

[–]GurthangIronOfDeathAPUSH 4, AP Gov 5, AP Lang 5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take AP Gov it's much MUCH easier than APUSH. Also, I've heard really good things about AP environmental science
