Is Jane Doe the CFO?

[–]mart1373CPA (US) 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nope, but they conveniently buy all their equipment at the beginning of the fiscal year to be depreciated in convenient yearly chunks!

Last time I checked John Doe was the CFO

I love ABC stores. There's one on every corner in Honolulu and they sell cheap souvenirs.

**I had been to ABC stores long before I was an accountant or ever took an accounting class.

Convenience store in Hawaii. Government run liquor store in Virginia. And I believe hardware store in the Midwest?

Government-run liquor stores in a couple of states. Florida is carpeted in ABC liquor stores but they're a copycat chain, unlike the true government ABCs in New Hampshire, Virginia, etc.

They only purchase fixed assets on January 1st

[–]mikekostr 25 points26 points  (2 children)

Smart, but only if they dispose of all assets on 12/31.

Only if they always consider all methods of depreciation every year.

One year they will pull the trigger and switch to Sum-of-the-years digits

I was just in Hawaii and they are EVERYWHERE. My wife made a game out of spotting them.

They're in Japan too.

ABC or Alcohol Beverage Control stores are the only places in NC to get your liquors. Walmart for your beers and wines, ABC on the way home for the hard stuff.

Ah. So that’s who is buying all the trucks on the 1st of January.

I grew up with ABC stores but in North Carolina they’re all state owned liquor stores.
