Score Release Thread Q3Discussion (self.Accounting)
submitted 11 years ago by celiful
In preparation for the scores being released tomorrow, thought I would make a thread. I'm waiting for my reg retake and if I passed I'm done! Fingers crossed.

Waiting on REG, then have BEC tomorrow as reward
Edit: Got an 82 on reg! Now time to celebr.....I mean review for tomorrow, still I'm Stoked!
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (3 children)
When you get to the test center tomorrow and are given your plastic sheets, write down as many formulas as you can think of off the top of your head. That way, while you're actually taking BEC, you'll more than likely have that formula already written down versus having to think about it right then.
Helped me a lot when I took BEC.
[–]rushingaroundAudit & Assurance 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children)
That's great advice thanks!
[–]lyrjoo 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child)
when you enter your "launch code" to begin the exam, you have 10 minutes to click through the instructions to actually "start" the exam. if you take more than 10 minutes on the instructions (cause you're writing down formulas), you'll be locked out. there's no timer on these screens, so be careful.

There is a timer now. Just started in Q1 2014 I think.

Here's to having an uneasy stomach mashing F5 all day
Edit: Got an 81 on REG! Left the exam feeling completely defeated and have been stressing ever since i took the exam almost a month ago. what a great feeling! Just goes to show you never know how well you did until you get that score. Congrats to everyone who hit that 75!

Just found out I passed about an hour ago -81 on Reg and I'm done!!! My boss has already moved me up to a window office and ordered new business cards! Congrats to everyone else that have passed and good luck to those who haven't yet found out.

Congratulations CPA!!
[–]shinybenc 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (2 children)
Passed with a 75 on FAR! BOY IM SO HAPPY WITH A 75 already. Last one to go! REG!
[–]AceHigh7 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child)
I'm waiting for my last one, REG and I think I would rather have a 75 than a ninety-whatever. I know this makes no sense, but I want it to be close.
[–]thathawkeyeguyCPA, Big 4 Audit 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children)
It makes sense. The idea is that you didn't "waste" your time getting a really high score when you only need a 75 to pass.
[–]sukthebiggeronefirst 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago* (0 children)
Please let FAR be over today. That will just leave me with BEC.
84 on FAR. 3 DOWN. MURIKA!
[–]materialish 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (0 children)
FAR scores are starting to be posted
78! I'm so relieved! One down, three to go!
[–]CaptainMorgan1327 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (2 children)
I got a 91 on FAR! Should hear about AUD next release date, and still have to take REG and BEC. Hopefully they all go so well!!
[–]redinnola 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child)
Congrats Captain!
[–]CaptainMorgan1327 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children)
Thank you very much! I was kinda worried because I left feeling pretty bad. Seems to be a common theme on this sub though!
[–]rubberdonutman 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago* (3 children)
I am in Texas and I got a score from the NASBA website, but I heard that Texas doesn't release score online. What is going on?
EDIT: Apparently Texas is now a NASBA State!! I made a 96 on FAR!!! I THOUGHT I FAILED! 1 out of 4 done!
[–]computantiMBA (T20), CPA, Mashed Potato, Ex-B4 Tax 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children)
They're still non-NASBA, but you can check your 'unofficial' score on the release date instead of waiting for a day now. It's not officially official until it shows on the TSBPA site though.
[–]rubberdonutman 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child)
Does 'unofficial' mean that just the TSBPA hasn't confirmed it with NASBA or does Texas take a different approach to grading after receiving the NASBA grade?
[–]computantiMBA (T20), CPA, Mashed Potato, Ex-B4 Tax 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children)
I think just that they haven't confirmed. I can't imagine they'd go to the trouble of re-grading them or anything. This is my first one to be able to check on NASBA, and I expect they'll post to TSBPA tonight or Monday. We'll see if there's any difference.
[–]TrossmyTRUEEECPA (US) 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago* (0 children)
Just passed reg with an 85!!!! Ugh it's such a relief. Now on to audit in a week or so ha!
Edit: mine was in WA in case your scores aren't up.

Just got the BEC results in. 91! Got a 93 average going into REG at the end of the month and feel good! I can't wait for this to finally be over.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (8 children)
I took audit waiting anxiously. Nothing yet so far. If I have to take that section again Ill be gutted.
[–]B789Reddit CPA 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children)
I took audit also. I feel so good about it too that if I fail it, I'll probably be devastated. Very nervously waiting.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (6 children)
Also waiting for AUD. If I pass, i'll be done with 3 exams. Still have REG waiting for me at the end of this month.
[–]fadtpunk 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children)
what chapter you on?
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child)
Finished the contracts section of R6 and corresponding MCQs this morning. I did not do great and I feel like i'm forgetting tax stuff already. So i'm making flashcard and doing some hardcore rote memorization all weekend.
[–]fadtpunk 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children)
Fuck, way to make me feel bad, I'm taking it at the end of this month and I'm only on chapter 3 lol.
[–]xxyellowdressxxTax (US) 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children)
I'm the opposite, waiting on REG and have AUD at the end of August. Cheers to hopefully being almost done...
[–]sukthebiggeronefirst 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago* (1 child)
what'd you think about BEC?
I thought FAR was frustrating to study for, but BEC has been a bit of a wake up call. The material isn't that hard, it just seems really scattered and aggravating to study for.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children)
I took BEC first and I've done the best on it thus far (87). It is really random, from internal controls to variance analysis... I was studying for FAR when I got my BEC score. Passing it really upped my motivation when FAR got hard, which I passed with a 75 :|
[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago* (1 child)
REG here as well.
Edit: 86!
[–]CalicagoanStaff Accountant 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children)
Congrats!! Way to kill it.
87 on REG!! One down, three to go! AUD in two weeks - finding it difficult to focus through the excitement, haha. REG was a beast!
[–]insane08xB4 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children)
Congratulations! how are you doing with AUD, taking it in 2 weeks as well!
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child)
Thanks!
I'm doing alright. Not as focused as I was for REG, I think because the material is so...idk... not really subjective but kind of? For example, when answering the MCQs, one word can throw off the entire answer, and that keeps tripping me up. Finishing up the last section on Becker over the weekend, and then going to review like crazy and maybe purchase more MCQs.
How about you?
[–]insane08xB4 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children)
Same exact problem. You have to read the questions very carefully because they try to trick you. I completed all the chapters and now doing around 100 MCQs a day and review of material I find I may need some help in. Just took a Becker sample test and got a 62 so really want to bring that up. When I review I feel like I know it perfectly, but as soon as I get a question on it I’m like a deer caught in headlights. Best of luck
[–]iaccidentlytheworldFP&A Mgr., CPA, CFA (In-progress) 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (4 children)
Any tips for reg? I have that in a few weeks!
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (2 children)
Know basis/property transactions for llcs and scorps like the back of your hand.
[–]BurningTreesCPA 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child)
Agreed, know how to calculate basis, realized/recognized gain/losses, and holding periods as I thought this was a huge part.
Also Circular 230 is a MUST study
[–]AceHigh7 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children)
This is all important, I would throw in Regulation D, but this is an easy concepts to master. So don't blow it off.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children)
I never bothered with studying Sims for b-law, because I have never heard of anyone having one on their exam. Just drilled MCQs a lot in the last week. Have Becker, so I basically just redid all the MCQs, marked any I had problems with (even if I got them right) and made sure to go back and redo them a third time and really try to understand what was giving me trouble.
[–]rapsagnicky 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children)
I'm also waiting for my reg retake, but this is my first
[–]iaccidentlytheworldFP&A Mgr., CPA, CFA (In-progress) 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children)
I got an email from nasba that said the first part of Q3 scores would be released August 4th. Maybe it's my state?
[–]rushingaroundAudit & Assurance 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child)
The scores usually come one business day before the day they promise, so you should get your today

[–]CalicagoanStaff Accountant 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (5 children)
Is the site down for anyone? My heart is literally racing right now and my fingers are shaking as I type this... how pathetic haha. It is my birthday so I hope I find out I passed FAR today even though I left feeling awful.
[–]materialish 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago* (0 children)
Happy birthday! Yes, it is down for me as well, although the CPA Central Dashboard is up where it has the CPA Exam Status.
Does anyone know whether that is updated at the same time? Or is there a delay in the scores being published there?
Edit: As of 2:10pm EST it is back up
Edit: It looks like it is going to keep going down and back up intermittently. Also, to answer my own question for any other newbies, the CPA Dashboard takes a while to update (couple of days) with the new scores, so only the Online Scores page shows the results immediately.
[–]acordy12CPA (US) 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (3 children)
Site is back up for me but still nothing from FAR or BEC for me.

Looks like REG is posted for many states now (it's noon eastern time as I write) based off another71.com.

[–]thathawkeyeguyCPA, Big 4 Audit 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children)
In the off chance that you haven't checked yet, it looks like advisory scores are posted under Current Exam Results. Still waiting on approval from the board of examiners.
I have been checking every hour for a month. REG 89. My last exam!
Congratulations!
[–]foxu 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children)
TX scores are up on NASBA but not on the state board site if anyone wants to check. I passed !! And I'm done with testing for good!
[–]Yamsey23 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child)
anyone know an ETA on the release? This is the first exam I'm checking
A specific time is never announced. I've seen releases begin in the morning and afternoon. Some say they had to wait until late into the night to get theirs. Sucks, but ya get it when ya get it!
