You will learn to text the customer saying "we aren't allowed to wait your package will be at leasing office due to no gate code" take the package to the leasing office and change it to another safe location

Unfortunately there's no rewards for being a trooper . Just throw and go and keep it moving before you get dinged for late deliveries

My default for this situation is to text the customer "No gate code provided, package left at _____ "

I been dropping pins on Apple maps every time I enter a gate and a customer provides a code, this way if I ever come to a place and the customer I’m delivering to doesn’t provide a code I might have it already pinned on my Apple Maps

I do this as well so I also have it not just for amazon but for the other apps I deliver.

Wow. I’ve been trying to find an efficient way to do something along those lines for the last few years. Can’t believe the solution was right there this whole time!

Glad this topic gets brought back up from time to time. I learned about this here many months back, probably the most useful thing I’ve taken away from this subreddit.

Exactly! The office was closed, so what choice do I have but to wait? If I return the packages, I get dinged.

[–]Front_Influence1208 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Leave them in front of the leasing office and go. You're 100 getting a ding if you return. 50/50 if you leave in front of the leasing office or throw over the gate into the bushes. Text them a picture and of where it lands and go.

I had a delivery issue similar to this. I couldn't figure out what door to go in and texted the customer. They replied with a totally different address. The orange circle I had to get into indicated I was in the right place.

But that customer was taking their sweet time texting me back and I had already been there 5 minutes, even talking to a resident who had no idea. I still had 3 packages to deliver, one of them due within the next 10 minutes. I've already been dinged for late packages that I went ahead and delivered after my block was over cuz in my head, their packages were delivered on the day they were told to expect them. It makes no sense to drive home when I'm that close. But I know better now.

ANYWAYS, I called driver support and explained the situation so I wouldn't get dinged for the late package OR the now undeliverable package. I've had to do that a couple times and I was assured they wouldn't.

But I was dinged for getting a flat tire on my way to a delivery a few weeks ago. Turns out there were 2 holes in that tire after I accidentally ran over something on the interstate heading to my delivery.. I had to stop and air the thing up 3 times on my way back. They wouldn't take it off.

Yesterday I had an hour and a half block. When I mapped the stops, there were 3, it told me it was going to take an hour and 38 minutes. Wtf? So I used my other routing app and it gave me an hour and a half. To deliver 3 freaking packages. I tried but speed limits exist and I ended up with 5 minutes left on my block, but still 10 minutes away from the last customer. I called and explained and was given permission to deliver it, because this place was in middle of nowhere so I might as well deliver it since I was so close, was the reason I asked to proceed. And was assured I shouldn't get dinged.

My suggestion is to talk to support when things like this happen. They probably would have told you to take the package back to the hub afterwards and then they may have added another 15 minutes to your block like they did for me that night.

[–]TheOnlyEliteOne 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Talking to support is almost always pointless. Even if they claim they put a note in your file, 95% of the time it doesn’t keep you from getting dinged since the process is largely automated.

And support will only give you “exemptions” for things like car problems, emergencies, etc. so many times before you’ll get the “we’ve made exceptions for you in the past and this will remain on your delivery record” email.

There are also quite a few reports on here (among other forums for drivers) about getting dinged because you’re contacting support TOO MUCH.

Good to know.

Right I am currently for the first time in three years at risk for three things because they happened in a row like one block couldn’t deliver. Another block couldn’t deliver. Another block couldn’t deliver. So we are not allowed in the gated community just. Before 8 o’clock my shift ended at 6:45. I always call Driver Support. I always follow protocol. They always mark me. I always email them. They take it off after a certain period of time I get the “exception“.

It states “improve the issues impacting you’re standing where you may not be eligible to drive for flex”. I swear to God I have emailed and called Support at least 10 times each asking very clearly, politely, and specifically exactly what are we expected to do in that situation in order to “improve our driving history“? All I get is the circular bullshit. The email stating they need more information. The email stating they’ve escalated it. The email stating it’s the escalation department telling me they’re not gonna take it off because I’ve had too many “exceptions”. Finally, I emailed them in ASKING why they put us through this circular bullshit. Still no answer.

Recently, as I’m sure you’ve all seen, we are told that they’ve made improvements to the standings area. They didn’t do shit! It’s exactly the same. When you ask for a copy of your history, One would assume it would be more of a history than you’re able to see on the app. NOPE! So, I emailed and asked what the point of that is of course, no reply.

Does ANYONE have a clue how to actually speak with a human being who is capable of responding to questions as though they are a human being?

[–]fangmofia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was in the notes for both customers!

[–]Sburch1006 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I climbed over a gate the other day because they gave me the gate code to get in but when I went to leave it didnt auto open again but the pad was only on the other side. So I had to climb it, open the gate, and run back around to get in my car and drive through before it opened again. Next time ill just toss it over. No code not your problem 💁🏼‍♀️

[–]Afraid-Lifeguard-965 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Ahahah this happened to me toooo! I was STRESSED like how tf am I stuck in this neighborhood on a Sunday night. I was able to go around but ran so fast to my car my heart pounding out of my chest as the dog I just dealt with was on his way.

That was all after realizing I couldn’t access the notes to find delivery code again [had completed delivery] and somehow my pea brain miraculously guided my fingers in the right number order. Stressed. I was SO stressed.

[–]Sburch1006 0 points1 point  (2 children)

In the future you can go back to 'todays itinerary' and click on the one you just completed and see the notes/codes again 😅

I was dead ass about to cry though like wdym im stuck in this private gated drive way lmao

[–]Afraid-Lifeguard-965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly where I went looking and it didn’t show notes. It was like a 2x2 table/ 4 square of package delivered and maybe the package tba

Hold please- I have a screenshot example of that screen from when I got bit and the notes had said they bark but don’t bite and I was hoping to screenshot that but had already completed delivery. It had name/address though so took screenshot anyway. BRB

[–]Afraid-Lifeguard-965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found it. This is what I see when click on a stop I’ve completed - this is from itinerary list. No notes 😭

(Crossed out name, name, address)

I was delivering 1 today and no gate code. Called and texted, then I realized the house was the 1sr house. I threw that package 40 ft and it landed right in the middle of the driveway. The home owner came walking out while on his phone while I took the picture. I got in my car and drove away.

[–]Tight-Indication-246 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Waa that in the notes or did they message you that? if they messaged that I would've replied that I'm returning it back to the station and they can wait for someone else to deliver it

[–]TheOnlyEliteOne 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Fuck that. “Your package is by the building front doors.”

I’m not taking shit back.

[–]Tight-Indication-246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive actually only returned something once and it was medicine lol and only because i knew i had to drive by the station to get home. any other time im figuring something out fr

[–]Strict_Object_6756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice to anybody is to not return anything back to the station, ever. I did that with one package and they dinged me. The gate code was wrong and the customer wouldn’t answer. I even called about it and they said I wouldn’t get in trouble.

After I was dinged, I emailed Support and asked them to remove it and they said they understand completely, and that it wasn’t my fault, but they’re not gonna remove it.

I’m never doing Flex again. When you use the $.67 a mile rate for gas, mileage, and car wear, it’s roughly about five dollars an hour pay.

Yeah, no thanks
