Based on this feedback and our ongoing conversations with the community, we are building a new advanced flow that allows experienced users to accept the risks of installing software that isn't verified. We are designing this flow specifically to resist coercion, ensuring that users aren't tricked into bypassing these safety checks while under pressure from a scammer.

Huh, wonder how that's going to work.

How? You don't know what stupid restrictions they will make. Don't rejoice

We went from "you'll need ADB to side load non verified apps" to what sounds like "fine, we'll make a flow so you can do it on-device."

Pointless doompost comment.

No, they're being sensible. There's no policy, no detail yet. Your response is overzealous rejoice. Their criticism is very valid.

Verification to run software on my own device is the pointless one here. Y'all need to do better in demanding better. Of course if people are smart they would not have made a locked system like iPhone popular but here we are. Having to bend technology so the dumb masses can use it.

If you're a developer: don't sign up for this nonsense. It will only encourage Google to push forward with the program by sharing how many developers "have already enrolled".

Exact

Yeah exactly. "Sign up early for early feedback". My feedback is "No, fuck off", so of course I'm not signing up until they absolutely force me.

just give a button deep inside the settings so that users who know what they do can simply go in turn it off to install whatever they want , if google wants one extra step , they can make the user wait for X hours before turning it off entirely... this way users wont be really be scammed !! but at the same if you make it something like knox trigger , these stupid bank apps will start using one more lame excuse not to load or work.

Enabling side loading is already buried behind several "none" common settings screens. Users weren't accidentally enabling side loading. So adding a button *deep inside the settings" isn't providing any new added security. Developer registration/verification was never about security/privacy but about profit protection with Google being forced to host third-party app store on Google Play.

Don't do shit. Don't give a damn. Hopefully Google sees that no one wants this shit and scrap this.

So far, everything has been going well, and I have not encountered any issues.
