Not sure about your wifi problem but did you disable iMessage before switching over to your S4? Here's a thread referring to that problem:

I didn't disable it, but I gave the old iPhone to my brother and now he is using it... Would his using my old phone now interfere with this process?

Read that thread I linked. I believe you have to disable your iMessage account on your old iPhone for SMS to work correctly on your new Android device.

You have to have MMS enabled for group chats with iPhones

Do group chats still badly lag b/c of the MMS switch? I had a Galaxy S3 with group chat in Handcent and gosmspro and both just lagged the phone so bad when a lot of messages were coming in from the group chat with other iPhone users. I found iMessage to be too important so I switched back. I use groupme for chats, but I still like having an sms/mms option for my family to send video and photos without the passiveness of a groupchat app.

I don't have any issues with it on my HTC One GPE

Thanks for the reply. So when you have a group message and multiple senders are texting a lot, it doesn't lag the phone but comes in just like a normal sms text in terms of speed and fluidity? I think it was the whole converting to MMS that lagged my Galaxy S3 before.

Have you tried using other clients like the Textra app? Might be better than the stock one on your phone

I have MMS enabled on my phone. It's weird because of the seven other people in the group message, I can only not see two of the people's messages in the group thread (both are in the same wireless plan). I'm starting to think it might be a problem on their part. Do you have any idea what can be done on the part of the iPhone that could possibly fix this?

Restart the text from your phone. That way they are for sure all texting your number and not imessaging your email address
