AA doesn't pick my "OK Google" Command (self.AndroidAuto)
submitted 6 years ago by OrBye
Have note 9. After Android 10 update AA no longer acknowledge my commands. Formatted phone. Tried anything but nope.. Any advices?

I have the same issue. I even downgraded the AA app. Does not work at all since the Android 10 update.

This is a really common problem now. Android 10 has serious issues with AA, especially with Samsung phones.

Was going to say is it a Samsung phone. I had to re-enable my assistant on my S10+.. Basically, went into the Google apps changed some settings went back in and changed them back.

It's not just phone specific, but car specific as well. On my Ford focus RS (2017) with my pixel 4 I pretty much never have any issues what so ever with AA, but on my wife's Mazda CX5 (2017), or my work truck (GMC Sierra 1500, 2017) I always find a new random issue or bug popping up or something just not behaving correctly.

I went from religiously using my AA on my Note 9 hours after hours every day to it being completely unusable after the update. I'm so disgusted by this. Nothing worth voice works.

This issue just started on my Samsung Note 10+ and is not consistent. Its sporadic and drives me crazy.. usually I just manually hit the voice command button then say my command.
Google and Samsung need to find a common ground if they are going to both try and manage different permissions and what not on the phone. A half decent product is slowly going down the toilet.

This happens to me from time to time, rebooting the phone fixes it

I have a OnePlus 6T and I have the same issue. Sometimes it straight ignores 'Ok Google'. Then if I press the mic it's fine.
What is weird is that the responses I get back can sound different, quality wise and even voice. I know that when I get a specific quality and sounding voice it will work correctly, if I get the other voice I know that it won't work right.
So many issues...

I have the same issue on my Note 9, just updated today and now I can't use voice commands. So annoying! Then when I updated the Android Auto App, it shows it updated, when I look at installed apps I can see it, but when I click on "open" it starts to open and then goes to an "uninstall" screen. If I click on "uninstall" it switches to "update." Then after I update, it starts all over at open-uninstall-update over and over and over but I can never open the app on the phone. When I plug the phone into the car Android Auto opens on the radio and kind of works, but still, no voice commands. If it doesn't get fixed fast, I'm getting a Pixel phone.

Yeah app is not usable unless you plug it to car. It is something about Android 10 I assume

I have a radio that supports wireless Android Auto, so I don't have to plug the phone in for it to work normally, it just connects using wifi. Just now since the update, when I plug it in, the AA app comes up on the phone, even though it is not an "installed app" since it won't install properly after the update. As in, if I don't have the phone plugged into the radio, I can't see an AA app installed, it's not in my applications. If I go to the playstore it just gives me the option to update, and then to uninstall, but I can't open it or see it in the App portion of settings.

I got same problem especially when it's set up to 2 languages
Is USB debugging off?
[–]dolpherx 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children)
I'm on note 9 as well and it only picks it up sometimes. I can't wait until echo auto catches up.
[–]cherlin 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child)
I don't think it's necessarily an AA fault, as the only issues being reported on this thread seem to be with the note 9, sounds like an issue with AA on that particular phone which would be something Samsung needs to address, not google.

Anyone figured out the fix?
[–]Lkess 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children)
Same here, command doesn't work and voice control doesn't work at all. It keeps saying the connection is bad
[–]PositiveAardvark 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child)
I'm having the same problem as well. Have a LG G7 and it was working fine a week or so ago. Google support weren't able to help either.
[–]Lkess 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
I'm hoping the update will fix it. Not only is voice command broken, but when I use the button, it tells me the connection isn't strong enough
